Had the pleasure of meeting him 10 years ago and he graciously signed my guitar. He is a humble man and it was a night I will remember fondly.
I've listened to Gordon for 40 yrs and carried his music with me in 25 countries. Would love to sit with him for an hour and just talk. There's a dream 😉
50 years, and dozens of places... But now the dream will remain a dream. We still have his music to comfort us.
Still so much spirit and soul. The man is simply a master at conveying emotion. He is certainly one of the best songwriters the world has known. Thank you Gordon.

I've also loved his music since the first time I heard it, probably around the same year. I was in 1st grade in 1969 but fortunately I had 4 older brothers and a sister, as well as parents who loved to listen to 🎶. As I grew, so did my appreciation for the greatest singers and songwriters of that era, of which Gordon Lightfoot has got to be way up toward the top as far as talent, innovation, genuineness, dedication and remaining true. (In my humble opinion). 🎼🎵🎤💙🗺🌄🎶🐱

Wow! Just listened to this song for the first time! A simple song, simple lyrics, but lots to think about! Mr Lightfoot is still writing great songs after everything he's been through. By the way, the graphics and "montage" of that video are fantastic!

Somewhat mysterious lyrics ... but the simplicity and lightness of his guitar is mesmerizingly beautiful. Too bad he lost his whistler...no one whistled better. See Ghosts of Cape Horn. You have enriched my life ... our lives bud. When you ascend to the Carefree Highway ... we will all wail like babies.
I think his "weak" whistling is pretty fitting. I see, or hear it as someone singing one final song in the night at the end of a show. Maybe at a bar or some club. Everyone is gone but one last audience member. Some dark figure in the corner. Imagine being that figure in the corner, listening to this man sing his last song for the night.. It would feel so magical. That's my take on it anyways!
