Saw Gordon many many times in concert at Massey Hall in Toronto when I worked there and always to a packed house. Even if all the best seats were gone and I had to buy a pole seat (obstructed view) I would still go. Such an amazing musical genius. My family had a cottage just outside of Orillia and I think that’s where my love for his music started, because Gordon is from Orillia and everywhere you went you would hear his music playing. It’s been years now since I’ve been to one of his concerts, getting married and moving out of town made it more difficult but I still love his music and listen to it all the time. My favourites are Summer Side of Life, Carefree Highway, The Circle Is Small, Song For A Winter’s Night, If You Could Read My Mind and Sundown but I really love them all.
this video and song is from 2004. 2 years earlier, I briefly met Gordon Lightfoot as we sat in the waiting room in McMaster Hospial in Hamilton, ontario. we both had same surgeon. exchanged a few smiles, but never spoke. he wore a baseball cap, but I still recognized him. When he was admitted in the hospital, no one was allowed down the hall where his room was.
Envolks many emotions. At age 52... Gordon has been a life light. My second marriage is failing. Just a little "inspiration". If Gordon believes - then, so do I.
I saw him in Melborne Florida in the mid 90s. He was just recovering from something and appeared very ill. His voice is better now than it was even in his 50s
saw him last year in Boston. His voice is withering for sure, to deny that would be foolish. He also forgot some of his own lyrics etc. It was still a great show, my friend and I must have been the youngest ones there for sure. haha

It was his only that I dared to try to play. I did somewhat well.. Beyond the Wild Misty Moutain." In tribute to this great man, that 17 year old wore a Canadian flag around her neck for ten years, until the chain broke, and I lost the flag. I feel that these words will disappear into cyber space, and no one will ever know. But, if anyone is listening, and knows where I can find this song, MY song, please tell me where, where.....
