Metal Sonic legitimately seems like the best villain ever. I don’t think I’ve seen that level of dedication in defeating the hero, and he’s gotten terrifyingly close several times.
Yeah he is way more worthy of killing Sonic than that stupid Mephiles the douche. Metal would actually kill Sonic in a fight! Not result in some cheap cowardly tactic that involves killing from a far distance! Seriously fuck Mephiles! Even Infinite had more effort put into him. Also Metal has a personal and understandable grudge against Sonic. Mephiles had practically zero interaction with Sonic to the fact Sonic's story in 06 should've been a completely and separate game altogether.

Eggman reacquired Metal Sonic sometime after the events of _Heroes_ and reprogrammed him to be obedient again. There's no indication whether or not Metal remembers what he did in subsequent games, though.
I used to not really care for Metal Sonic when I first got into this franchise but then I realized he’s one of the best characters AND the best villain in the games. Can’t believe I at some point thought less of him

Honestly Metal Sonic is more fitting of being the "protagonist's evil counterpart" than Shadow ever really was. Shadow is basically just a rival at this point, kind of like Knuckles is, but more edgy.

I love how they did the character justice in Sonic Heroes: being far more terrifying than Dr. Eggman, attained a new form, concocted a powerful strategy, copied everyone’s data, as well as his Metal Madness/Overlord causing him to progressively grow unhinged as the battle raged on against all four teams. Also his “All living things kneel before you master” one liner is legendary.

" And this friendly rivalry between the two trash-talking fastest things alive has completely disappeared... Heroes was my first sonic game and I remember being awestruck that there was a secret final boss but then I remember seeing super sonic for the first time it was so awsome for me

Update: SEGA Updated Sonic Mania and removed the Metal Sonic Wall from mania and changed it to A some sort of blue version of the chaotix metal sonic final boss. If you comment "u moron itz fer plus" I played it when I found my nintendo switch and it auto-updated it and the menu changed. Then I went to Stardust Speedway in debug mode, and found that, and I quote on quote called it "Metalsaurus". So SEGA just updated the game and replaced the wall from metal sonic to chaotix metal sonic.

Shadow was just as cocky as Sonic in SA2. Shadow said that he was better than everyone, Sonic said the same. But now, Shadow says " U nOOb I wILL pUNCH yOU " and Sonic says " I WILL wIN bECAUSE Of My FRIenDS ! " And this friendly rivalry between the two trash-talking fastest things alive has completely disappeared... The last time I saw it was in Sonic Generations, but maybe that's just an illusion because Shadow got two lines and Sonic didn't talk to him

Update: SEGA Updated Sonic Mania and removed the Metal Sonic Wall from mania and changed it to A some sort of blue version of the chaotix metal sonic final boss. If you comment "u moron itz fer plus" I played it when I found my nintendo switch and it auto-updated it and the menu changed. Then I went to Stardust Speedway in debug mode, and found that, and I quote on quote called it "Metalsaurus". So SEGA just updated the game and replaced the wall from metal sonic to chaotix metal sonic.
