Publig hangings used to be a big draw, should they have one on the Podium as Spectacle is your yardstick? Watch some stock car crash em up if thats your interest, but F1 claims to be the Pinnacle of Racing. This was a shit show of a "race"

What happened at the restart wasn't the FIA's fault as had they said no overtaking then it would have been as good as a safety car finish. The issue lies with how the FIA delt out penalties which albeit was a major issue but that doesn't take away from what happend before such as the battle for the lead and the battle between Norris and hulkenberg both of which were entertaining. Not a great race but was much more entertaining than Bahrain or Saudi without the restart chaos

That kinda happened, apparently a big piece of his rim came off after he smacked the wall an hit a spectator, so not only did that fan get a really great souvenirs but he also recieved a large cut on his arm.
I dont see why not, they are the 20 best racers in the world and they should know their cars limits and drive accordingly. And they got as much time to warm up as every other start in the race(as far as I know) and all of them went well. Some people just tried to much in the last restart and chaos ensued.

They are fierce sportsmen, many in a position with nothing to lose and all to gain, being put into a starting position on cold tires and low fuel with the setting sun in their eyes going for a one lap shootout. What do you think is going to happen? A fair but hard race? The FIA ramped up all the factors that _could_ increase the risk of a crash. Your comment is basically the Pikachu face meme after the fact.
Something we learned from Melbourne was despite the unfortunate outcome, we saw how fast the Alpines were. Gasly was in 4th place for a majority of the race keeping Sainz behind him. Ocon was also giving trouble to the mid field and slowing down people trying to pass. Even Sainz commented on how quick the Alpine was when attempting to pass and defend when he did eventually pass Gasly. Kinda sucks that both Alpines had to crash into each other. Ocon seems to have a streak with that 🤔

I have noticed that I keep coming back to this video. This race is what got me into F1. My brother showed me a video of the chaos in Australia from Formula 1 TikTok and I loved it immediately. Between this race and Baku I had a F1 subscription, watched hours of F1 videos and I was holding F1 watch parties at my house, something I still do now. I haven't ever watched the race in its entirety, slightly afraid that it might make the chaos less so. I love that you said that it got everyone talking, as that is how I got introduced and addicted/obsessed with the sport. I was there for all four days and that was probably one of the best F1 weekends in history with chaos in every event possible which made it a great watch

A buddy of mine has been watching F1 races since 2003, has recently taking part as a marshal in the sport, and is a very knowledgeable and understanding fan. He prefers the 2005 Indianapolis race to this.
tbh, i would scrap one of the red flag rules(the one which sets the grid back 1 lap before red flag) but think into it, it can benefit the drivers and teams, exp. After lap 56 restart, AMR was out of points and the restart order set them back into it.
I don't really think that the relationship between Ocon and Gasly has strained, having hung out with them earlier in the week, their friendship seemed like one that would take a lot of crashing into each other, to finally break.

I never understood sainz’s penalty considering fernando’s car was undamaged and they went back to the original order. His late braking ended up not actually making any difference to the race or anybody’s car. They essentially punished him for actions that didnt actually do anything. If the fia decided to go with the order after the shitshow occurred then i can understand the penalty.
Pretty bad mistake, you said that after the 3rd red flag that “not having a standing restart is inconsistent”, but they technically did, it’s just that the safety “formation” lap before the standing restart counts toward the lap counter, so they go to the grid and pass the finish line before lining up, it may look weird but is entirely consistent
in Real Racing 3 for mobile phones, the ai was going full online lobby mode in a challenge to win the magnificent Ferrari 412T2. Challenge: Hold Position. AI: just crashes full chaos ahead of you and you failed challenge because you dont hold your position.

The racing until the end was pretty subpar honestly. The only really good battle was Norris v. Hulk and that lasted 2 laps
