Same thing happens here in Canada with Trudeau and his cabinet minions not answering questions. I suggested in a commentary on a site here that this portion of questioning the ruling party ought to be handled by AI with the AI saying that the government member did not answer the question. Then the said member would be give one more chance to give a proper answer. If not then two robots emerge and lift the member by the collar and usher him/her out of the house. We should have a parliament petition on Daniel’s opening words around MPs having to answer the question that is asked with specifics and even go further to answer questions under oath.

Vote Reform. Straight answers, transparent. AND they have a plan. The migrant boats would stop in a week, and the 96% backlog would be wiped out in a few months with a few transport planes and some parachutes

It's not like they don't know what the Parliamentary questions are going to be. PMQ's are pre warned about the information they're going to be asked for. *It's all theatre 101*
Thank you for raising these important issues. How can we compel politicians to give clear and precise answers to the questions put to them and also make them accountable for their answers.
In the case of Angela Rainer, the fact that she failed to mention any company that agreed with the government employment policies proves that she was lying. In Starmer's case, regarding what he knew about Louise Haigh, he didn't want to answer because he knew that his judgement in appointing her as a minister, would be put into question.
Starmer seems to be making it a habit NOT to answer questions. We pay their wages. He should be MADE to answer those questions. We have a RIGHT to know.
And it's funny that people don't realise there's no such thing as as successful and honest politician and naively take part getting them in, not realising it doesn't make any difference but that they're signing themselves as responsible for all the wrong done and give up the right to complain.
evasive evasive evasive, he does not hold himself to any account but holds the public to account for whatever he feels like, and has a static set of bullet points of blame to fall back on,
No one in parliament is going to support such changes as all politicians are guilty of this unresponsive behaviour. It's not limited to the present Labour government. It's a general problem amongst politicians, and as they are the ones that make the rules they'll want to continue the status quo.
I think that we need a petition: All MP's and PM's must answer the question to the best of their ability. You mentioned the black hole, it would be great to have the ultimate answer to this question.

But as say in the Post Office enquiry, and question we know the answer to which they didn't want to answer, the reply was, 'I don't have that information to hand' or ' I was not aware of that'. Which we know are blatant lies and a cop out.
Someone start a petition that "When a MP or anyone in the houses of Parliament, is asked a question. They have to answer with detail"
He's never answered a question put at him since he first step foot in as PM, the worst lying PM we've had next to Blair
Oven ready Brexit, for one, Boris was hardly a fountain of truth and transparency lol Truss's budget to help fix the country 🤣
Tories have been fixing the NHS till it broke for 14 years.
They are mainly as bad as each other, very few from any party I respect for answering most questions directly and honestly. Happily point out a lot of MP's from pretty much all parties that suck at it.Been similar, but getting worse since we invented the soundbite perhaps, since I was a kid in the 1980's
Getting so fed up with Starmer's blame game constantly never taking accountability.
I got a lot of replies in favour of this suggestion.

Like you say It’s so straight forward
They should just answer the bloody questions that’s been asked !
They are completely incapable of doing so and if they do answer it’s usually a lie 🤯🤯
it’s disgusting how they are allowed to get away with all the corruption and lies
Very amateur politicians - shockingly un-professional - clueless liars floundering in a grown up world.
However, they are highly representative of what Britain at large has become. Amateurish, grasping, entitled, mendacious, unproductive, clueless and spitefully childish.
I find politicians despicable. They should be made to answer the damn questions.
We should have a parliament petition on Daniel’s opening words around MPs having to answer the question that is asked with specifics and even go further to answer questions under oath.
Remember when they told us starmer had a razor sharp intellect and he would tear his opponents to ribbons with his legal trained brain.
and Boris had an oven ready Brexit 🤣🤣🤣
and Truss's budget would help business... or Brexit lol
Me: "What time is it Mr Starmer"?
Starmer: "£22 Billion black hole".
Me: 💤
Sounds about right 😂😂
That's a perfect comment 😂
😂
Brilliant! There is a lot of truth in your comment, even though it is a joke. I lost count of the number of times he mentions the 22 billion. Indeed it seems to be his preferred answer to all the questions.
@@josebarata3164 when he isn't busy calling for sausages to be freed.

He's far worse than that.
He's a traitor to the British people.

I just think he's incompetent.
You obviously put in a lot of work to produce this content about our government. Please keep it up , it is very much appreciated. I know there are people out there who don’t want to hear it and worse don’t want me to hear it too. Your simplistic style has got me and I suspect many others thinking more about politics and government performance than I ever have before .
I agree that Daniel’s clarity and incisive thinking helps us all to understand

100% agree with this video, what is the point of PMQ's if there is a total failure to answer any questions. The speaker of the house should be able to direct those being questioned to give a full answer to any questions put to them.
Lies, lies, and more lies. That's all you get from this government.
News Presenter: "Who supports your proposals?"
Angela Rayner: "Lots. Trust me, bro."
😂😂😂❤❤
I was not aware that Ms Rayner is so eloquent. A four word sentence!
She lied about her council home. It's in her blood.
Canadian PM does this "no answer" thing all of the time...wasting our taxes doing this evasion.
PMQs is a joke. Parliament is a joke.
They seem to think so, they spend most of their time laughing at each other’s benign comments.
Reminds me of the saying, how can you tell if a politician is lying? They're mouth moves!
No such change to the constitution would work as it would undoubtedly require caveats such as "unless such disclosure would harm national security".
You're speaking my mind - it's a yes / no question; answer it appropriately and stop disrespecting us - you're our servant.

We are getting used to this government not telling us anything... They treat citizens with utter contempt.
I think if Starmer answers all questions truthfully he would be in prison.
A suggestion here, can we start a petition for this to be discussed in parliament where the PM must answer by law?
In Parliament it is against the rules for one MP to call another MP a liar.... how ironoic it that
How did Boris mislead Parliament then?
They are full of shitty word play. Woe unto the lawyers God says.
A straight talking, no-nonsense politician would get my vote 100%
Vote Reform. Straight answers, transparent. AND they have a plan. The migrant boats would stop in a week, and the 96% backlog would be wiped out in a few months with a few transport planes and some parachutes
I agree - this is rife. Like the PO enquiry- witnesses cannot recall and obfuscate to their hearts content. Does my head in !!
Politicians should have to answer specific questions( apart from the countries security) or be removed from their respective constituency. This should be a non reversal law.
Rayner didn't mention any companies not because she refused, there were NONE!! She is woefully out of her depth and too driven by ideology and that won't cut it

Worst in living memory for sure. But for the lasting damage done by Blair, currently takes it. But Starmer still time to surpass Blair’s utter ruinous time at the helm. I just thank God I’m of an age where I no longer care.
Ever...
Good idea. I’m sick of all this fancy footwork and obfuscation by politicians when they refuse to answer questions.
Yes, they should answer a question, and be accountable for their answers and/or promises
It's not like they don't know what the Parliamentary questions are going to be.
PMQ's are pre warned about the information they're going to be asked for.

Yes, I know & I also mentioned this precisely in my comment so it even makes less excuses for not coming up with an answer.
Hoyle won't ruffle Starmer's feathers, he's the PM's lapdog.
Yep. Proved that BEFORE the election
Angela Rayner refused to give any businesses that did support the governments’ budget.
Well, indirectly, there's the answer. No businesses supported it.
I totally agree 👍
The fact that so many companies agreed on that letter so quickly is a very important detail Labour have missed.
That is why most politicians are disliked as much as estate agents and conveyancing solicitors
And it's funny that people don't realise there's no such thing as as successful and honest politician and naively take part getting them in, not realising it doesn't make any difference but that they're signing themselves as responsible for all the wrong done and give up the right to complain.
Estate agents will be pleased, there is someone disliked more than they are!

Can we start a petition to ask the government to discuss changing the constitution to make politicians accountable for their actions and words.
Here say without proof.
No one in parliament is going to support such changes as all politicians are guilty of this unresponsive behaviour. It's not limited to the present Labour government. It's a general problem amongst politicians, and as they are the ones that make the rules they'll want to continue the status quo.
There should indeed. It's been so very noticeable with this Labour government. So much unwanted secrecy.

A claim without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.
I think that we need a petition: All MP's and PM's must answer the question to the best of their ability. You mentioned the black hole, it would be great to have the ultimate answer to this question.
No they must answer the question accurately and concisely. If it's a secret they must still answer in a closed session.
Good idea
It is not honest...stinks actually. Conservatives the same.
Ex pected different from. Labour but I no longer trust them to speak for the country. Especially to do with what we are doing in the middle east and what we as Britons are feeling complicit with.
