    Thanks for these rule tutorials. I'm just getting into X-Wing and it's always a chore slogging through rulebooks. These videos make it really easy to learn the rules without getting lost in the rulebook.

    I have to say that I really like your videos, but there is one video that I would like to see. That would be on how to use the CR90 Corvette. If you could that would be most appreciated. Thank you

      +Eric Shaw Will do!. Might have to break that up into a couple vids though as huge ships have a whole other special rules to follow.

    does anyone know weather or not a target lock from a previous turn falls off if the ship that has the target lock does a red maneuver?
    Or do you keep your target lock even if you preform a red maneuver and are now stressed?

    What if a locked ship flew away from the targeting range? Is it still locked?

    So it doesn't allow the person to shoot in a 360 arc? If so can it shoot missiles and torpedoes in a 360 arc?

    • @GuysPlayinGames
      @GuysPlayinGames  7 років тому

      Unfortunately 360 arcs only apply to primary weapons unless specifically stated otherwise on the secondary weapon card. Generally, secondary weapons only fire from the primary, forward facing, firing arc.

    this is why we have house rule. if you forget to take your action, your only allowed to assign focus or nothing.

    Great videos! They are very helpful. I have a question. When you have spent/used a target lock, are you allowed to make any more target locks during the whole game?

    • @ReallyBigBadAndy76
      @ReallyBigBadAndy76 6 років тому

      Kivigakruse yes. You can target lock every turn if you want to. But with only a few specific cards that make exceptions, you can only have one target lock at a time. So if you already have a target lock and you chose to lock into a new ship then you lose the first target lock.

    ok, can i just check.. a target lock can be put on another ship (in 1-3 range of course), at any angle, it doesn't have to be within the range arc?

    are you able to spend target lock for a reroll, and then spend a focus token in the same turn?

  • @Tech2Rush
    @Tech2Rush 8 років тому

    I'm all for playing fairly and in good spirit, but if you pass priority after your move you don't get to go back and take an action. This is just another reason supporting that.

    • @GuysPlayinGames
      @GuysPlayinGames  8 років тому

      absolutely agree. personally, we love the game and community for that "fly casual" attitude. but sometimes people forgeat how much those rules matter in the game. thanks for the comment btw. we really like hearing from viewers. be sure to check out our other vids as well!

    Question if I may. Let's say the X wing obtained a target lock on the tie fighter but the tie fighter moved out of range. Could the Xwing select a focus token in addition to (as a result of the tie now being out of it's firing arc) or must it get the tie back in it's firing arc in order to use and then remove the target lock?

    • @GuysPlayinGames
      @GuysPlayinGames  8 років тому

      +Liam Baxter If the xwing made it's move before the tie fighter and acquired the target lock and then the Tie fighter moved beyond range 3 of the xwing, the target lock would stay on the tie fighter. There would be no opportunity for the Xwing to take on a focus token as well as you can only perform on action per turn (This excludes free actions from card effects of course). But the key thing here is that the target lock, once acquired, stays on the ships until it is spent or removed by another card effect. Also remember that target locks can be acquired on ships outside of your firing arc. The only requirement is that the opposing ship be within range three of your ship. Does that make sense and answer the question for you?

    • @CaptainBlackGB
      @CaptainBlackGB 8 років тому

      +Guys Playin Games it makes perfect sense. Thank you for the speedy response! One last question. Let's say the combat phase is over and you still have a target lock. In the next round can you acquire a new target lock while maintaining the old one from the previous round? Can you perform any other actions (such as focus) in the current round while maintaining the target lock from the previous round? I hope this makes sense. Forgive me for the wordiness.

    • @GuysPlayinGames
      @GuysPlayinGames  8 років тому +1

      Liam Baxter not at all. that's a great question. Yes, unless a target lock is spent or removed, it will stay on the ship in the following rounds. If you acquire a new target lock with that ship, the old one will fall off. You can take other actions like taking a focus or evade in the rounds following the round that you acquired the target lock without spending or losing that target lock.

      +Guys Playin Games awesome. Thanks for the clarification.

  • @ramendude246

    If u don't spend your target lock, do u still get an action next turn? Such as a focus or evade token.
    So u will have both the unspent target lock and another token (focus/evade)

    • @GuysPlayinGames
      @GuysPlayinGames  8 років тому +3

      Correct, but let me clarify a little so there isn't any confusion. In round A, you use target lock and assign it to the ship you are targeting. In the combat phase of that round, you end up not using the target lock to modify your roll, so the target lock is still there at the end of the round. In round B, you may take another action, IE focus/evade/etc, and the target lock will still be there until it is used, removed by another ability, or you chose to lock onto a different target. Does that make sense?
      TL:DR Yes

    i'm a noob to the game..but I thought a Tie Fighter couldn't target lock...

    • @GuysPlayinGames
      @GuysPlayinGames  7 років тому +2

      In this example, we used a First Order Tie Fighter, which does have the Target Lock ability.

  • @fernandosolaramos8931
    @fernandosolaramos8931 7 років тому

    The rules say clearly that firstly you perform your manoeuvre, then your action. I don't understand why you say that target locks must be performed before movement. You claim that because range can change favouring the attacker, but the other way around can also happen (the attacker being in front of an enemy ship and then gets beyond range 3 after movement), so I think you must do what the rules say: first, move. Second, perform an action. Great videos nonetheless.

    • @wtfathoritah3416
      @wtfathoritah3416 7 років тому

      During each ships movement at the end of the movement they have the option to perform an action (as long as they aren't stressed) what he is saying you cannot hold your action until another ship's movement, which is true. Therefore the order of which it should go based on the pilot score of course would be... Tie fighter reveals dial, moves, then performs it's action. Then next score up which would be the x-wing reveals his dial, moves, and performs it's action. It is designed to give the higher pilot score the advantage, which is also why during combat phase, the highest number fires first.
