yes i also decided i want the d500 and am going to get the pack that comes with all the stuff e.g. strap case and also a lens which apparently is perfect for day to day use. this came to about £500 so that i what i am going for. also i needed one for college and this ticked all the boxes. amazon is a good place to look and just keep looking at youtube vids there are loads that help. also great video mate this hepled me to decide to go for this one. thanks

I am deciding between this and a Canon T1i, $650 vs $700. I'm having trouble deciding between the two. The 15MP of the Canon is very appealing along with the 3in higher resolution screen compared to the 2.7 screen (i don't need the swivel anyways.) However from what i've seen the D5000 is better with noise at higher iso, and a more sophisticated 11 point autofocus system. What do you think? Do the extra megapixels of the canon significant? How's the screen of the D5000?

Jason, Awesome video. I own one of these and am having a problem with the autofocus working. turning it on, its in auto focus and (green box) auto and it will not focus. On the side of the lense is also on "A" It will take a picture if I hold the AE-L/AF-L button but it doesn't auto focus. What am I doing wrong? It has a Nikon DX 18-55 lense.

It was a bundle pack that came with the camera body and 2 lenses (18-55mm and 55-200mm) and a 4gb SDC card. All for $825 (not including taxes) Do you think i got a pretty good deal? because i wasnt sure if i should get it before or after the holidays..but they only had 20 left so i got one before they run out. Also, what lenses are you using in this video? (with the Nikon D5000) Thanks!
Nice camera, i love taking pictures but im not that into it to use something like a nikon d5000, i use a nice portable kodak easyshare md41, also keep up the good videos, thumbs up.

@ThoughtsMedia umm.. the sort that turns the LCD off as u come closer to the viewfinder? im just wondering if the lack of the sensor makes a difference. Does the LCD interfere with ur eyes?. does it waste the battery as it stays on? sorry my old camera has a sensor, jsut wondering if it makes a huge difference?
@kmusicxx , Nikon D5000, i got Nikon D3100, and a Nikon D200, if i were you, i bought nikon d3100 :) very nice, for beginners, i like it better than nikon d200 :)

Okay so I'm considering investing in this camera but I'm concerned about the screen. I'm gonna be making videos and I plan on using a tripod. If I connect a tripod to this camera, will the tripod block the screen? I need to be able to see the screen so I know when I'm focused and in frame. So does the camera connect to the tripod off to the side? Or does it hook up to the middle where it blocks the screen? Please answer. I really need to know! Thank you. You're video was great! :)

Go to Snapsort.com and compare the two In terms of image quality they are on the same level In terms of functions the Kx wins hands down HDR,filters etc. If brand is your concern then the choice is yours the Nikon will have a greater amount of lenses available The Pentax is at low price,small size,good functions and it's better carrying around a camera that everyone doesn't have. I just bought a d5000 with the kit lens for $200 used, of course. Very please with it so far.
@ant1mag3 about image quallity i would go with the d5000 it has the same sensor of the d90, which is kinda enthusiast-medium level dslr.
@ant1mag3 The lens supplied is good. But optical zoom is not really applicable. Basically you can't zoom that far without losing image quality.
