So LOVE this video. Thank you. I'm a Tinian girl gone from there for the last 11 years... I'm happy to see that the new generation still practices our culture. I still do, living in the US. I'm with you Aldrin, I missed out on so much the last few years. Maybe it's time to go back....
@richyrik1 maybe there's a communication problem? Can't believe an educator would use the terms "fake" and "stealers" without clarifying what it really is they are trying to teach. Maybe you should question the teachers about what they mean. It might make for an interesting discussion. I'll be in Guam soon for a few weeks. I would like to meet the teachers who tell you this stuff and have that discussion. Perhaps we could all learn something. Lemme' know,,,
the dances come from a variety of influences as chamorus, or chamorros have traveled and returned home. Some are Polynesian as well as other Pacific Island styles. Some are Spanish ,and others are creative interpretations taken from translations of Spanish documents of what was happening in Guam at that time. At least we have the internet to bring us closer to home, yes? I really like the cooking recipes. Nothing get's ya' closer to home than good food..
Well long ago we didn't need clothes so the ancient Chamorros were naked unlike other cultures until we were influenced by the Spanish now we wear clothes but from different cultures
@richyrik1 ...i see ur at it again.First it's Guam, then Tinian. What next? The moon? lol.. If you took the time to research the history of it's cultural development you would know much of it is " recreation". An attempt to represent what " may "have been. They don't claim to be exact and those that do are misinformed . " All" cultures change due influence by outsiders, including yours, but maybe in your world nothing ever changes? It seems obvious from ur comments. Why all the negativity?
Oh Wow😬😬😬. i thought they were going to dance tahitian with the polynesian costumes. btw, it looks like a mixture of tahitian's aparima and hula. no offense but it doesn't look nor feel authentic, no passion. smh. they should've dance like the Micronesians.
