i've owned two Regius (a 6 and baritone 7) and honestly don't get what all the fuss is about them anymore...Back when they were $2600-$3k I thought they made sense, but currently at over five grand I just don't see it. Also there's a few things about how they're built that most people wouldn't jive with...for me it came down to the fact that there is so much maple in the neck that it was impossible to escape the overly bright tone....they're by far the brightest, most sterile sounding guitars I've ever played.
+Isan Simpson Sterile I have to disagree with, but they do give you dozens of wood choices for the guitar all around so you can tailor it to a sound you'd like better when ordering something. Brightest might because you ordered Maple/Ash which is a known to be bright combo, like how Telecasters usually feature them.
I ended up switching my Regius 6 out in the end & pretty happy that I did. Great craftsmanship, but really unsatisfying tonally for all the reasons you mention above. Just really cold, clinical guitars.
+mcafee1971 Here in the EU you can grab a used one for 2K+ euro, or even close to 3K. A lot depends on the configuration and condition. If you are unlucky enough to be in the other places in the world, easily add 1-1.5K euro to that price.
