One thing you can do for the time it rains and your out. Get a piece of flexible plastic and bend it on two edges for as wide as the camera is and the longer edges to go down alongside and attach to the camera if possible with a little overhang at the front so as to keep the water off the lens. Another way would be to make a small canopy and hook it onto the camera like an umbrella.
