Actually had to spot a trailer with this door latch system today. I like it, keeps the doors tight against the side of the trailer. great for tight clearance doorways on indoor docks.
That was snug and tight but it was also new. That hinge near the hook wears out over time, preventing the hook from securing properly. If the hook isn't secured there is excessive play in the mechanism. At that point the door will swing free with the slightest bump. If you have a trailer with this hold back system on it, that's been in service for a few years, you know you'd better have some zip ties handy.
my company has 5000 of these trailers. one or both doors the Trustlock Plus L shaped piece has to go thru hole in trailer when opening doors to lock against side of trailer. When this happens the Trustlock Plus will not stay in key hole. the door will come loose while backing in dock. this a desigh flaw. when the L shaped piece not going in hole you have to take wire and tie the Trustlock Plus thru the hole and around the handle where the L shaped piece is the keep trailers doors coming free from side . straight out design flaw. some say the holes a short. Not the case. one door will lach properly, then the other door on same trailer not lach correct or both. it seems to the the cause is micro offsets in trailer door hinges.
As a driver and jockey for over 35 years I can tell you this is absolutely the worst latch system ever. Causes more damage and injuries than all others combined. Ask any experienced driver, jockey or mechanic, they all hate these latches.

These are great when they are new but wear out quickly then the door comes undone and can swing open.

Glad to see those I have a conventional lock and the trailer has to be perfectly level to get the left hand door shut 😒
Holy cow, how short is this guy??
No way he over 5'
i like these but no one makes a seal guard for this style. People are ripping off seals causing cargo claims.

By you saying the L shape piece, are you referring to the cams?
And are you having problems with them?

Hahahaa. That's right, before there were real truck drivers big 👢 etc. Now anybody can be a truck driver 🤔
That is not an attractive door lock system.
