Your videos on Aqara products got me started on buying these for my first sensors to use with Home Assistant. Thanks for another great video, you've been a huge help!
Same here. Aqara is the first choice when it comes to sensors in my smart home. Also the Aqara button works just fine. I’ve all of my 25+ sensors connected with ConBee II to Home Assistant. I think it’s important to know that the contact, vibration and motion sensors also measure the temperature, but the values measured are quite off. You can’t use them without any effort to calibrate them, nevertheless they could also not be very accurate. But if you use the sensors for their intended main purpose, they are very reliable and accurate. So I fully agree to you
@@SmartHomeMakers I've made a few cooking videos, but never been on screen, so fair play to you. On another subject, I'm currently struggling with Telegram notifications from Node Red. just an idea for another video for you. Keep at it dude, huge success is coming.
1 second ago I don’t have the best internet where I live. Would this set up slow down my internet? I just want to set up a local home security network but not hooked up to the cloud for privacy reasons. I’m not a tech savvy person so I need an easy system, haha. Any suggestions? I’d just need door/window sensors with an alarm or notification hub or something of that sort to announce things at night. Thanks so much!
My friend i have the g2h with many child devices on a China server. I try to connect Alexa (who is in American server) and it doesn't find it. it said that have to be in American server? If i change the Chinese server to American all these aqara staff will they work? Thank you
I cant wait to get my hands on the Aqara goodies and get to building out me home assistant to get automations running. I will be looking for your tutorials to assist with theconfigurations.
Great video again and I fully agree. I also recommend Aqara. Also great ideas for the vibration sensor. i also have one installed in the outdoor mailbox, but unfortunately it loses signal every day. Most likely the Zigbee signal can't reach that far and currently I am looking for a new use for it. The only (underrated) Aqara product that I am missing in the video is the Magic Cube. Already am using two of them and really love them. They were my first Aqara products.
@@SmartHomeMakers , I can think of many purposes for it. I use it myself to control music (start playlist/ pause music, change playlist and control volume). Other usages might be to control blinders or control lights (change colours or dimmable). Each side can have a usage so if you mark the sides you can control up to 6 different devices or device groups
Geo, I would agree with you. Aqara are my sensor of choice and I have dozens of them. I agree that some of them are under-rated. I have configured my water leak detectors as a rain sensor and a sensor to alert me to empty the dehumidifier. The most recent use of a vibration sensor is to monitor when my shower booster pump is running, this triggers my electric towel radiator to turn on to dry the towel after the shower. I have used them to monitor temperature, humidity , light level (with the dedicated light level sensor). and presence detection in my polytunnel.
The temperature sensor is something I have my eye on, BUT not for the things you listed. It is going to go into my Humidor. It will not be my main sensor, but will give me a good idea if I need to panic.... thanks for all these videos, they are a big help! I did sign up for your HA class just need some time to sit back and learn
Thanks for commenting and signing up to the classes, had a very busy couple of weeks so sorry for the delay. Please let me know how it goes with the temperature sensor! Did you pick it up?
Thanks for the video. I'm not quite ready to build a Home Assistant system yet. Just using the Aqara H1 switches with Alexa for now. But Alexa doesn't see the switch as a trigger for routines, it's not listed in the "When this happens" page. :( I was hoping to use one of the rocker switches to control some WiFi smart plugs. Would happily buy some ZigBee smart plugs but the Aqara hub/app don't (currently) support third party devices and Aqara only sell a US version of their smart plug (although I am reliably informed a UK version may be available next year).
@@SmartHomeMakers Not yet. Need to trade up my Synology NAS to one that supports Docker first. Or perhaps a Pi. I have bookmarked your channel for when I do take the plunge.
I run the latest version. It may work in the future with some updates but out of the box they won't connect as easily as the version you have in your video
I don't have home assistant but want these sensors to trigger hue lights and my echo. Will these work? I.e at night when motion detected turn on hue bulb on nightlight scene for xx seconds then turn off? Or if the temperature in the nursery falls below xx announce Alexa or flash bulb? Ta
Just installed the smart blind motor. It's gone offline twice in 2 days requiring a reset to get it back. I've reached out to Aqara support to see what they can do. So far a bit disappointing.
@@SmartHomeMakers Actually they seem to have fixed it. I gave them the details of the unit and they pushed new firmware into it and it's been stable ever since. I did get a notification that the battery was low, despite it being at 89%, but other than that it's not gone offline since.
Def i want to steal that portrait, but i know you have a sensor... (serching google how to hack sensor for portrait....) Good video as always Gio. Cheers!
Have just got some of their wall switches and a M2 hub but so far unable to pair them all within the Aqara Home app so not impressed. The products all look good and feel good though :-(
@@SmartHomeMakers I wrote previous comment during period than Aqara made a bug in firmware update and for more that 5 days Aqara devices did not work at all. So half my apartment was without light! That is right! I'm tempted to order a bunch more on Amazon, also some of my first videos when I had less than 100 subscribers was about these sensors.
Nice video dude. Your increasing confidence on camera is obvious. Keep at it and this channel will be very successful.

Hi Leonard - question please. Will window and door sensor work if the WFi is down? Thank you!
Do you mean Wi-Fi ? Yes it does! It uses zigbee
Great video! What software are you using with your zigbee stick? Deconz? ZHA?
At this stage I use ZHA! Thanks for the comments!

Nice adea about the shower pump. How many aqara devices do you have?
@@SmartHomeMakers 15 temp sensors, 5 motion detectors, 5 door sensors, 1 light sensor, 1 smart cube, 2 on/off switches, 1 smart bulb, 2 vibration sensors, 2 flood detectors. ….. 34 in total, but don’t tell the wife 😉
I would add that many of the devices I bought second hand on eBay and the rest I purchased before they have virtually doubled in price.

The latest aqara door sensor doesn't work with conbee 2. Make sure you get the old version

My experience has been through the home assistant lens to be fair, really look into HA!
One big issue with Aqara is that they will not route through non aqara products well which can result in poor performance/battery life.
Hi Mark! Thanks for raising this point !
What do you mean by non Aqara products? example?
@@Stigmaru any zigbee product not made by Aqara such as Sonoff.
@@EspadaMK can that be mitigated just adding more aqara devices?
@@Stigmaru yes If they are mains powered.
It's a brand of security camera from China. Due to privacy concerns, I would prefer not to have a Chinese camera inside my home.
Makes sense! Would you trust a US based company in your house?
I started my home automation with Aqara devices. And it was big mistake:( So much money spent for unreliable rubbish:(
Why??
