The way the skid factory has gone from strength to strength is fantastic. The workmanship has always been top notch, of course, but Al's comfort level has increased so much it makes the show that much more entertaining. His apprentice could use some acting lessons, though. 😋😋😋

I never thought I'd see the day when Turbo Yoda would just drill a hole larger to make things fit, but now we can all feel a little bit better the next time we have to do it.

@@ohlookadragon you wont because the sensors arent designed to last that long the sensors will have long since been replaced. But the cars they are in will be kept alive by the faithful few. My baby is 25yo and still runs like new
@@jackass123455 That is my point. A set of points and a distributor are much easier to replicate or simply rebuild compared to a computer and all its associated wires

tip for the XR-XC Falcon crowd, if you're looking for an efi tank that'll drop in, the EF/EL wagon tanks are 68L and bolt in (might need to change some mounting holes in the tank).
probably better to get a long range tank and put one of the many EFI pump hangers that are available or a fuel cell depending on your budget and performance needs I guess.
I know the e series sedan tanks were plastic, did the wagons retain a steel tank?
@@cgrecommended Yep, they are big and flat, not the perfect shape for blow molding, being steel is another reason not to use E10 in them either.
@@rayg9069 you can do a tank lining kit through them e10 is ok on steel tanks IF they car is used regularly and the fuel is not left to sit. However I would recommend running regular through it.
FYI the stock block on early V8 Novas are unique. They are different from all other Chevy Gen1 blocks. They are worth $$$.
The oil filter mating surface is machined higher into the block for clearance.

you can just use a short oil filter when swapping a v8 into an early nova.
That engine has the early Powerpack/ Fuel Injection heads and they have been 'ported', and has had headers fitted with the QJ* on a OEM manifold. Not earth shattering, even then, but would have been a nice street engine.
* An underrated carbie, mostly because most people can't understand how they work or tune them
@ChrisHallett83 Gotta find someone who actually knows how to work on QuadraJets and you'll have a good carb. They are like pandora's box if you have no idea what you are getting into

We had these small blocks for our Tech training in school. Ours weren't as pretty and couldn't push a shopping cart down the street but it's cool seeing one in a real application.

It was probably a I-6 ,3speed car originally. The mounts were slightly differant from the powerglide V-8 mounts.
Timothy Thompson that's what I was thinking when I saw that crossmember. v8 in the early novas were few. it's probably a later 327 as well.
They said its a true SS which kind of makes me sad.
You'd be right, if you weren't completely wrong. Factory 283/Powerglide SS with correct VIN. Cross member was "modified" to make the TH350 fit by a previous owner somewhere in the past.

My cousin had this same car in Alabama in 1975. His had Cragar wheels, and a 396. Same Canary Yellow.

I've just finished mopping up 3.5 litres of engine oil my mate dumped on my shed floor after not making sure the oil filter o-ring had come off with the old filter. That Dex3 looks like a breeze to clean.
So siiiick , wouldnt mind installing one of these in our 240SXs !!!

FYI That's actually a rare block. Nova blocks are different casting than normal SBC to give clearance between trans and the fire wall.
That car wasn't an original v8. Several of the mounts would have been different if that was the case.
Al is a legend.

A messhersmit is a small bubble car from the 1960,s a little two stroke thing that to go go backwards to stop the engine, turn the key to the left instead of the right and it runs backwards, they do the same speed fwds as in reverse!

Quick question regarding this fuel tank. I'm installing a new one in my big block do I need the anti squeak rubber that goes on top of the tank or can I just install it as is?
Those efi tanks are great for mild streeters , but we found there no good for bigger power stuff. My dads car with a 403 cube 630hp efi engine has run a best of 10.30 @ 138 MPH running a walbro 460 pump, but with half a tank of fuel it gets bad fuel surge and that was not even gettng up on it real hard , we run 255/60/15 MT radials on it full time which doesn't help the course. On the chassis dyno it was fine. And what has the Gen 1 ever done? WOW WTF where do we start LOL.
So that JZ that was on the floor a couple episodes back must be going into the 86? ;)
