Dang, ground looping and no damage? Your brother is hella lucky.
Yes I agree… lucky for sure I ground looped yesterday hit a pile of dirt and killed my Champ :(
@@johnlucas2037 Damn, sorry to hear that man.
Good rescue - and your brother no less. Glad you both enjoy flying. Brothers are special.
Look like compression fittings on plastic tubing. U wanna get rid of the spongy feeling , nix the plastic and install hard lines with flared ends and fittings
Trent, love your posts. I’ve been hooked since 2019. I’m an aircraft maintainer by trade. Even watched your flying videos while deployed (yours and Mike Patey’s Scrappy build 😜👍🏻) on one of the many TVs in our off duty hot spot. I’d look around by the end of each vid and have at least 10 more audience members hooked on your content. Great work! I hope to experience some of what you post someday. Keep it up!
This is what I would a real adventure with all the other friends flying together landing at places and take off again great fun
a hint as a c140 owner and a 40 year harley tech by profession we have issues with some front brake bleeding (dual disc) we take cap off resvoir then pump up perssure tye wrap master cylinder with pressure on leave for several hours, because lines go up (as do airplanes) bubbles go up and out , the viscousity of brake fluid makes this takes a while , works every time also checks for leaks. This is a professional trick so don't tell anyone. thanks for all your vids !
Ex-race engineer here (WSB).
I’ll vouch for this method, usually leave it ziptied on firmly overnight. Works like a charm, especially useful for freshly rebuilt or brand new calipers or master cylinders that are prone to getting micro-bubbles trapped behind seal lips. They can be a real pita to get fully bled, leaving them under pressure works every time.
😎👍🍻
rubber band a fish aquarium air pump to it and plug in leave run for an hour or so, the vibration from the pump will dislodge any micro bubbles.😉
Absolutely going to need to pull the wheels and clean the rotor really good, acetone is good.
And pull the pads. You can probably bake the pads at 350 for a half hour but your better off replacing the pads obviously.
The fluid had to go somewhere.. definitely coated the brake 🤘🏻
Lucky he didn’t dump a wing on the ground loop. He’s obviously experienced enough to manage it with control surfaces 👍
I love the dog coming out barking to greet him.
Love all the bronze radio returns music! One of my favorite bands
Good to hear it's only a small fix, can't wait for the hanger opening fly in!
real hard to watch with the really loud music track. Wasn't mixed that well Trent. Have to keep pushing volume down for it and back up for listening to you talking.
Great video, glad it worked out. I had my new stater fail last year at Fond du Lac on one of my multiple attempts to get into Oshkosh. Nothing like true friends to help you get through a crisis.
Hello from Minnesota! Great episode!
Thankfully he is ok and your quick to come when your needed your a great man yall always look out for each other and show examples what family means👊🙏😁🇺🇸😎
Love Kevin! He has been such a huge help with me and my 4-1200!
Nice to have good brothers!
Looking at Trent's brake it looks like you could fabricate a brush guard for the brake lines and that would end any problem as far as something from the ground breaking the line.
Suprised to see that style of brake line on the brothers plane! I would have assumed it would have some kind of flexible hose more similar to the freedom fox. Learn something new everyday!
Hanger looks good in the air and bad a$$ on the ground👊
Trent, Field Repair videos are interesting. More of those would be cool.
So you want people to break stuff, for more videos?
@@av8or971 Seems to happen all on its own. Frequently.
Can't wait to see the Freedom Fox make it HOME!
Great to see you out flying ...
Cool "day in the life" video. Thanks for sharing.
Watched you guys flying by from the deck!! Yup - the hanger looks fabulous even from here! Been watching since it’s birth, lol! Good job Trent and team, hanger is gorgeous!
Change the pads,, they were probably soaked when the line blew, then just sat overnight absorbing fluid👍
Nice to see another great video from you Trent. I always like, and I've been a subscriber for a long time. Maybe one day I will fly down there and be your wing man for a day or two. Cheers from Winnipeg.
I liked your original intro the best years back
Love your videos! As a Reno local, I'm really excited about this winter. To me, the snow makes the mountains really pop. I'm trying to get 120 days of snowboarding on the mountain this coming season!
I tried to have 120 hours flying a year, once.
I was short 2 hours but then it was snowboard time already.
@@alexdarcydestsimon3767 this guy gets it
It is nice to see Kevin flying again. Glad the issue was a quickfix
Hi Trent,
I believe he should have opened the cap. With that much air and pushing the fluid up the system there needs to be some place for that air to go. If he keeps it closed it will just push the fluid around and not bleed.
He should definitely take your example and have tools on board flying in the remote areas. He's not really prepared...just lucky your around.
Take care,
Be safe.
Over here in the UK on a certain Aeroplane Forum the biggest issue that always turns up is bleeding brakes. I guess it is a work of art as some find it easy whilst others spend days (weeks) on the issue. Regards, Jim the Brit in NI UK
Haven't seen much from Hailey lately... how is she doing ? Keep posting !
I get the feeling that she is not too keen on flying.....but I might be wrong.
@@Lookup2Wakeup she might also just not want to be in the public spotlight.
From what I’ve seen in other videos, she really hates flying, and her career keeps her insanely busy.
This the same brother who’s trailer blew up too?! He may not wanna go near that lakebed anymore haha
yes is good ty
The music from about 2:38 to about 3:22 was too loud, it was hard to hear you talking. It seems like it was a slow ramp up, were you intending for it to actually get louder at 3:22 for the takeoff, and accidentally put in a long buildup time?
I had to pause Trent's vid to see if there was another tab in my browser playing music :P
Good vid! Surprised he is not rolling on a set of Beringer's!
Yeah man
You hanger is very very nice there Trent For sure. Good job building it on your own.
Building a hanger is better than building up anger.
@@alexdarcydestsimon3767reeeee?
Wait - Trent was working on the hangar, and his brother flew by for fun and didn't stop to help?
I too live without tailwheel steering. I keep a very close eye on my brakes!
Don't need breaks they only slow you down
brakes! So happy the AT402 I fly has Beta...
Pretty sure palmers other brother flew an ag cat till he had enough time to go fight fires.
More dogs!! 🐕 ✈️
I feel like I’ve seen that scene at 7:10 in some movie when someone opens the torture toolkit 🤣
Reach out to Steve at Aircraft Specialty Floghtlines for steel braided lines. Great quality and I have my Zenith Super Duty decked out with them.
He Trent please make a video, when you fly the Kitfox for the first time back to your new Hangar. :) I would like to see your reaction;)
Thanks for sharing.
I'll check my brakes better.
Background music a little too loud bro.
Can I fly with you someday my closest air port is Nampa municipal airport
Do what I do haul every possible spare part and tool required. Oh right weight and Balance.. ok I have a better idea a flying tool box you can tow behind 😂
I realise how busy you are Trent, but how is Nic going?
liikes here, how many planes he break before? :) all good
Dang, hopefully it would be good for reno air races! U going trent?
Funny people complaining about the loud music. I watch most youtube on mute and read the CC. It's all too loud (for me) to hear dialog.
Hey Trent, will you be at the air races next month?
I put a rental 182 into a field because the mechanic who did the annual didn't use a lockwire on the oil drain plug and it vibrated loose. That's one of the benni's of renting. I just called them, told them what happened, where their plane was and to come get it. I called a Lyft and was home for supper. That's why my dad always told me that if it flies, floats or f*cks, rent it. Ownership is overrated.
Or you can go to 1/8 inch tubing and it works way better!
Damn! What is all that green growth in the bottom of the dry lake bed? You guys have had some rain I guess.
Trent, what tools do you always have in the plane? Just got my first plane (experimental NX Cub)
Better brake line type.
Great video as ALWAYS! was the yellow plane aC140 or C170. I just purchased a 48 C170!!
looks like 140 to me.
is the left brake stuck?
Brake lines do collapse
loved the video, hated the loud music background.
Is there a reason you don’t use springs on your stinger Trent?
Looks awesome. Congrats for finishing such a huge project!
Still love the intro.,.
First comment! Love your content!
Good one !
14:05 - When the dog started barking I thought he was dropping censored f-bombs.
*Just say **_NO_** ! To ground loops!*
Was the taxi camera something you added?
It was, after I taxied into a piece of surveying equipment that was left unmarked on the ramp at my airport 🤦🏻
Holy crap, you guys use plastic brake lines. That is CRAZY. AKA No Bueno
Yeah, widely used on experimentals but it is crap.
If he got Brakefluid on the Disc he now also got it on his Brakepads now - Definitely change them - there is no way to get them fully clean again.
Hardlines direct to caliper is a big no no in the Motorsport world . Crown performance in vista ca makes Kevlar dot stainless braided lines in any configuration and length you want . More than good enough for a small plane .
Was not brother crop dustin' during the summer ?. ........ good thing two planes, looks like a long walk out.
Scott Palmer is his brother with another mother ( and father) he does crop dusting
👍Got it ,Thanks.
What is going on with the FFA?
Might have a master cylinder problem on the left ???
Trent, you should do another tool kit review…
Great video however
I know where that dry lakebed is and also know the area well, live not far from your house and also a pilot and dirt biker. Enjoy and look forward to all your videos.
Gotta love those nylon brake lines! NOT!
Me want da plane
As slow as those things land, Why do you need brakes??
Steering, differential braking is the primary form of steering for off field landings and taxiing. Only form on the freedomfox, rudder doesn’t do anything without airspeed. My plane has tailwheel steering but if it’s bouncing through dirt it’s not getting enough traction to steer the plane, it’s just skipping and skidding along.
I totally understand that. My point is that when there is a problem you work the problem. Don't make a mountain out of a mole hill! @@KPalmAir
You are good at sliding the ad into the conversation just like it is part of the subject
Please please please bring back the FLYING COWBOYS?!?! Please
Think those brake pads have a lot to do with his problem, they don’t like brake fluid sprayed on them. Spray can of brake cleaner may just do the trick
Kevin said he had brake cleaner in the plane and reached in the back to retrieve it.
@@iffykidmn8170 Pads must removed then give them a good clean, I had the same Kufic 4, those pads are tiny.
Kitfox
Bleeding from the bottom up....?
Unusual, or not ...?
I would love to share my "Starter Story" with you some time... now this would take a day of fly fishing to get you all the information...and why do you ever take off from the runway rather than soft surface with those tundra tires?
Ferrules on a brake line??? Automotive standard is double flaired tubing. Surprised that ferrules are acceptable on aircraft.
In the EXP world they still use a lot of cheap parts and materials that wouldn’t be allowed in production aircraft.
C-140 in one of Trent's videos??? My goal of making the 140 popular is complete 😂
MUSIC IS TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LOUDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
Ok, hear me out..... Towing a kitfox, with another kitfox.
Compression fittings on brakes???? In the automotive world that’s a massive no no.
TURN THE MUSIC DOWN!!!!!
Turn that music down. Cant hear anything you are saying.
Wait.. you knew you needed to fix stuff and didnt bring tools? Sounds about right
"....Dude! The hangar looks good from up here!",
...but no actual shot of the hangar and the house from up there... It would have been nice to actually see it!
Could you please turn down the music?
I agree, Trent and his editor(s) are usually really good at not overpowering the dialogue with music but not this time!
Trent, I love your content. I know you are crazy busy and unable to communicate personally with your followers but I would ditch the Telegram AI Bot. It’s just creepy and off-putting. It makes you sound like English isn’t your first language and that you skipped all grammar classes.
How are you not in prison?
Explain?
Not sure about Trent , but the po po can’t find me . 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Really dood ?? Find a hobby🤷♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Why?
John get a life! Prison for an aborted landing approach next to a NIMBY ?
Mix the music a bit louder....I can still almost here you talking.
