I like Gs pinned Super Gas blocks, I use them on all my Franken builds, the silver version which is different than the black nitride. Thumbs UP!

How does it compare shooting with your super duty?
I have a urgi complete clone with the Colt upper reciever Colt bcg and DD gas block
I'm kinda disappointed the the DD mki2 gas block isn't pinned.
I got my URGI upper from brownell. Didnt get any stickers or any of that :(

Surefire stopped offering the coupons
The urgi barrels were never black oxide according to geissele cs. Just the super duty barrels.
That’s weird because I was just emailing with their customer service and this was specific to a type of metallurgy they were using called “milspec+”. They had trouble getting the mag phosphate coating to stick with it. He told me there was a period of a couple of months where all barrels going out were both “milspec+” and black oxide coated.
This was a reply I received yesterday.

Man!!! I waited forever, clicking refresh daily, multiple times a day, as soon as I woke up. lol. I was seriously looking daily for like 6 months before I saw one come in stock.
If you want a head start, sometimes Geissele customer service will pre-announce a drop beforehand on their AR15(dot-com) industry forum. On the left hand side of the site there is an industry tab and you’ll follow that to Geissele’s page.

It is frequently out of stock. They are not discontinued.
I’ve seen other guys get H1 with theirs. My urgi came with an H2/super 42 and a SSA-E.
If you take a look at Geissele’s chart they recommend either one (H1 or H2) on a 14.5”. The chart is located on the product page of all of the Super 42 spring/buffer combos. The only caveat to that is if running suppressed they recommend an H2.
SSA-E? Like in the box?!? That’s not normal but a nice upgrade!

I’ve been wanting to build a URG-I clone, but I have a Super Duty upper already and wonder if it’ll be much different besides the rail color?
I’m gonna try and keep this short but I have a feeling it won’t be. lol.
A lot of people seem to say that the new URG-I is nothing different than the Super Duty upper. On the surface, this can seem true but there are minor differences that make a URG-I (clone or near-clone) stand out.
First - The Barrel. Typical of the URG-I is a chrome lined and cold hammer forged barrel. It’ll be either a 10.3” or a 14.5”. Lastly, is the gas port size. The military uses what’s known as a “crane spec” or “SOPMOD” gas port in the barrel. This is a slightly larger gas port that increases reliability in adverse conditions (weather, lack of oil, dirty, suppressed).
Second - The muzzle device. The flash hider you see on my near-clone is “clone correct” as in a Surefire 4-prong flash hider is used on the actual URG-I. These are very hard to come by and when you do find them, people are asking $400-$500 for them.
Third - The rail. So yes, the major difference is the color but there are also 2 others differences between this and a super duty MK16. The NSN and Geissele roll stamping on the left and right side. As well as the anti-rotation tabs. I prefer the manner in which the MK16 on the Super Duty attaches to the upper but both are sufficient in doing what they are intended to do.
Fifth - The Surefire golden ticket. This only applies if you buy the URG-I near clone from Geissele. You receive a 30% off coupon off of two items. A Surefire RC-2 Suppressor in Tan/FDE and a Surefire IR light or light/switch combo.
Honestly the super duty is probably a nicer shooting upper with the smaller gas port and better performing surefire muzzle device.
I have both and thr only difference of course with the SD upper has the tongue and groove on rail to upper to prevent twist they had on urgi uppers, but the SD is more accurate not much but is tighter on 9 different types of ammo I've used. Overall it's pretty much the same, but urgis are pretty much done with since contract is no longer. The SD uppers are gonna be going forward as they try to get in the new SOPMOD contract.

Honestly I like the NSN marked URGI for collecting reason but personally I think the SD’s have a slight advantage for the reasons you stated and they seem to be gassed slightly better. Also, I absolutely love the FCG that comes with the SD. The shape of the trigger is perfect and the CTN warcomp is a better muzzle device than the 4 prong IMO.

Sergio, I hope I don’t come off as rude but I just don’t want to have to type up all the differences again but I did answer this in another comment below yours.
It isn’t much but the URGI is for someone looking to “clone” a currently used USASOC (US Army) rifle and the Super Duty is your standard Geissele. By all means though, the SD is no standard run of the mill AR. They are superb shooters and I love both my SD and URGI. Geissele received a contract from the Army a while back to make these uppers though. Gas port enlarged, different muzzle device and slightly different handguard come on the “near clone”. The “clone correct” is much more involved.

Yes. 30% off MSRP and you have to call SureFire with the code/receipt of the URGI to claim it.
Think I could build this with a 14.3 inch barrel and still have room to mount my suppressor?
Maybe?? It would be cutting it really really close. The handguard is 13.5” and when a suppressor is mounted to the Surefire devices there is a slight overhang past the muzzle device.
@@GunBoxTherapy Just thinking because my 10.3 inch has a 9.5 inch geissele mk8 rail and the suppressor mounts. The same principles should apply, correct?

What’s the square marking mean on the receiver next to the G ?
That is the forging mark. The square means that this upper was forged by: ‘Brass Aluminum Forging Enterprises’. Them and ‘Cerro Forge’ (keyhole marking) are the 2 most popular forgings.
So first the metal is forged and then it’s machined by the manufacturer (in this case ‘Geissele’) which is the more important part of fitment or parts and to the lower.

Yes they are the same thing. The Geissele URG-I was adopted by USASOC (US Army special operations command) for use.
They're are not the same.The complete clone has a Colt keyhole upper receiver with cage code.The bcg is a Colt with mpc and cage code on the extractor claw.The gas block is a DD m12 not a bomb proof Geissele.Those are the difference between them.
Im curious on what kinda of lower setup you will put this on?

Love Geissele stuff from triggers to charging handles but that rail was so damn heavy I’d be lying if I didn’t say it made my gun feel horrible don’t get me wrong tuff as hell but ugly and heavy I’m out!!!🤯🔫

It's a shame they switched to black oxide barrel coatings. Great rifle before that.
I partially agree with you on that. While I wish they would’ve stayed with a phosphate finish over the black oxide, I’ve not noticed any problems with mine rusting or any imperfections in the finish.
I take this thing to the range probably once a week and put about 300-400 rounds through it per trip. While that may be a low round count compared to some other people, I don’t suspect any problems to arise. If for some reason I start to see anything, dissemble, sand blasting and Cerakoting can all be done in a matter of 2 days or you can pay someone.
I do agree with you though, Geissele should’ve went with the better finishes of the two.

@@Shoppincart they have, in fact, switched back to mag phosphate. I believe that had an issue for a period of time applying the mag phosphate in house.
