I love listening to this guy. There's a really nice movie showing Murch doing edits on a movie and explaining how he's doing it, what he's looking for, etc.
Great information. I am always baffled when I see good videos like this one where there are some people who give it a thumbs down. This video had excellent information in it. Nothing political. Yet, somehow, someone, somewhere, decided it deserved a thumbs down. I cannot fathom what it was that inspired 5 people to give this a thumbs down. Just a thought.
but 50 years ago it was key to have attention to detail so that you dont screw up the edit. - digital has made some of us a little lazy when it comes to the meticulous details of a edit, and execution
+Musique Decor Multimedia Design Just recently came aware of a concept called "the weakness of strength". I think this is an example. An advantage is almost always tied with a weakness. However, democratization of technology and lowering the barriers of entry is, in my opinion, almost certainly better than restriction. More people doing a thing contribute, in one hand, to acelerate the process of discovery in relation to a topic, both by "brute forcing" the variables, and through improved capabilty of collaboration and experimentation. There can always be exceptions of course; better access to surgical equipment to masses of untrained people outside a medical school hardly seems like a good idea to advance neuroscience, for example, lest we want to have a bucnh of people with their skulls pierced, but I think this is for the better most of the time, specially for things which do not have permanent consequences.
Love Walter.
Murch is a wonderful guy. What a mind! He'll see an issue at the micro-, mid-, and macro- levels.
Brilliant. The master.
Very true! I hope to learn much more from this man.
