This is my 9th version. I'm OK with the ML character changing from orphan to family with parents; it was done well here. The parents characterization was good. The neighbors were good. The earlier versions were missing family and friends holding ML accountable. Even orphans have friends and colleagues. With the little girl's death, there were lots of family and friends at the funeral. The clip near the beginning where FL walks into the mistress' kids hospital room holding their dead daughter was cut out. I would have liked to have seen that initial response, but based on what was shown, I guess ML thought she was just sleeping. 🤷♀️ However, this version still showed minimal to no remorse nor grief from ML. This version was all about proving to ML the SFL's true colors and eventually punishment for SFL. I guess that was important for FL to do on behalf of ML's parents, but ML did not get retribution. The characterization of ML in this version was that he was really really dumb. At least this version he is not mean and abusive. The characterization of FL was a grieving mother who was focused on SFL. She wasn't after crazy revenge, just patient justice. I liked how she left the SFL daughter to reap the consequences of her future. My only problem with the ending is a lack of retribution for ML.
Great comments ……I think I have watched 8 of these dramas. Clearly a winning formula….I wonder how many more variations can be squeezed out of this story……Subsequent male leads seem to display an increasing lack of brain….and possessing no moral compass….there is little sympathy for them when they express some sort of ‘regret ‘

That's why I always say be careful how you raise your children. If they come out like you evil, the streets and the real world will teach your child. I've seen other dramas like this one. I'm glad this one was a little different
While it's not a complete ending with all the loose ends tied up, the FL does get stronger and avenges her and her daughter. It appears the divorce hasn't been completed yet, but she's moved on with the kind doctor who has helped her along the way. I'm satisfied that the MLs parents know what a schmuck he is. He is still part of the family, but he appears ostracized. He can never atone for what he put his wife and dead daughter through. He should still feel lucky he has his family's money. It appears that FL comes from money, too. She's not hurting, but the jailed mistress and her daughter are. That's ok. It's karma. Who flushes ashes down a toilet? This schmuck does. What a loser.
One of the worst adaptations of this script. Liked the twist with his parents but there was no retribution. SFL will be in jail for only a year but WHY did the FL NOT submit the evidence for the killing of her child? She said, that she has it, so why are the ML and the SFL NOT in jail? They would both be imprisoned for life - why not? Also, what happened to the husband - nothing? Very poor adaptation!!!

Out of all of the many versions of this C-🎭, thinking this is the worse one🤔. It was as if it was a high school play and it didn’t reflect real life😳. The unexpected death of a child is very traumatic🤔 Thinking they all forgot the plot/assignments🤫. Even the mother😥😥😥 The husband seeing his daughter was injured and he decided it was a good idea to remain with the “hang on woman” and her daughter without once calling to check on her…even playing around with a birthday cake and a dead cat🤬 Too many family members and friends without one of them spreading the news of the death of the daughter on social media…so this version is a waste of resources😳 If you looking for the heart and soul of this 🎭/🎥, skip and go watch one of the other versions🫣
It might appear as if ML isn’t get quite what u thought unlike the other storyline when he mostly gets killed and one he became a crippled… I think FL in this storyline is zeroing in on the what seems to be the most important thing to him and that’s the other woman and the little girl ( ML has created a whole other family with himself as the husband and mistress as his wife and little girl as his daughter .. he has been living a double life with them but only mistress and her little girl have long take. Priority over his first family .. He has been in every sense of the word been engaged in polygamy…. His punishment may not be bars but his own dark prison .. cause wife is making sure what he values most in the world .. (that woman and her daughter (cause it sure isn’t the daughter he had with his wife) she knows nothing as important to him as those two are .. he even gave up family ties and business for the woman .. his father said choose and he choose mistress .. I think having ML see how that woman was using him and had no love for him and to think he lost out on his sweet daughter with his wife because of his obsession over a heartless no good woman and her daughter .. the most precious relationships to no good ML was taken …. just like he took the most precious person from his wife .. their daughter .there will be constant reminder of his losses .. with his lover and daughter his reputation friendships family his career .. and I hopefully his daughter will invade and his dreams a night and day …
What always makes me mad in probably every version of this story that I have seen is the line " but she is alone with a child and no one to care for her!". Who was taking care of your wife and child when you were over playing house and super dad!?? His wife was essentially a widow with a child then!
I really like parents of the ML character making clear the facts that he was blind and stupid and they needed to add more friends of the ML who would verbally kick him for his stupidity.

The father in this one was trash. He made a choice and it wasn't his family so to want forgiveness and reconciliation from his wife after he finds out the other woman is a liar is disgusting. He killed his child and destroyed his family with his own hands. It's just a pity that the wife has to suffer the loss of her child. That's something she will never get over, no matter how much revenge/ justice she gets.
This is the worst adaptation of the storyline. FL’s only objective is to show the mistress’ true color to the husband. Why bother. They are both equally responsible and equally evil. Husband shows no remorse, regret or guilt over his daughter’s death caused directly by his actions and the FL only wants him to see his mistress’ true color? What a joke. Who cares if he realizes he has been played. Both of them should have paid for what they did. Really disappointing plot.

I consider this a corrupted version of this drama. As I said about the previous version, they are getting worse. This is the 8th version i have seen The 2FL has evolved from a teasing childhood sweetheart into a mistress from the very start. She wastes no time saying she loves him. Putting a whole different perspective on the way he intercedes for her. The FL fiery fury at the injustice of her child dying from the manipulative actions of the 2FL has turned to a controlled sorrowful anger. If ever any drama deserves have a lot of face slapping and vindictiveness by the FL it is this one!! And the ML has gone from an unaware and clueless dope, but still remorseful and ends up dying, to he is aware of the 2FL interference and does not care ( he said " it's all in the past" about his daughters death) and he has no retribution!! He MUST suffer, otherwise its a waste of the drama! So to me this is the second to the worst. The worst was when he didn't care the daughter died and only wanted to collect the daughters insurance money!

What I hate, besides Jia2 ashes were drained in the toilet by her own father, was the innocent cat. It didnt look sick at all and yet it lost its life for the mistress's little game. The father is just waaay too stupid to be reproducing so in my imagination, the wife ends up with the doctor. In real life, the doctor personality and mature manly man looks is totaly my kinda man. Just not his job. I dont like doctors as a romantic partner.
