Julie was age 79 when she sang her favorite song from Sound of Music at this venue. She is now 86 years old. What a fabulous gracious beautiful talented woman!! She is and always will be a Queen to me!!
What a beautiful and talented lady. Even though she 'doesn't sing these days,' when she does - it is so enchanting and as strong as ever in my opinion.
She would be singing this up an octave, if it wasn't for that surgery. But it's nice to see she still can handle a tune in the contralto range, those low notes were quite strong.
Just makes us all more appreciative of the talents and abilities we have. She never would have guessed that she would lose her 7 octave voice when she went in for surgery. I feel for her and admire her attitude to presevere and keep making this world a better place. So glad her voice was recorded when she sang as a 13 yr old to Queen Eliaabeth II and in so many great movies. Those will outlast her lifetime for generations to come.
Seeing this was lovely, as my two friends and I went to see this show the next evening. Everyone singing 'Edelweiss' at the end was really moving. Thanks for posting it! :-)
Julie Andrews...in the mirning you' re magic with Edelwisse.i love you forever, because you're the sound of music.god save your life,my dear! Deyse,Brazil.
I like to think that there was a special Angel in Heaven who had a special need, so it was decided that, for a while, until Julie returns Home, that special Angel could borrow that special voice! God bless you, Julie!
that is not exactly a high note. I am a soprano singer and my soprano is no where near as good as her's was when she could sing the high notes. I can sing that more than an octave higher and my soprano voice has never been as high as her's was.
+Amanda Saunders considering she had an operation that botched her vocal cords and was left unable to sing - 4:01 is a high note for her - and excellently executed as well might I add.
Diana Victoria Aljadeff Think of all she has went through after her surgery. I think it took a lot of guts to sing again in public after what happened to her.
+Ihdc1 watch the edelweiss video on the sound of music and hear her sing the descant part. I am a soprano singer myself and have been given a soprano solo part more than once but my soprano voice has never been as high and as good as her's was.
She said it because they were singing too quickly, the song gets much slower at the end. She still sang the end, she was just keeping the audience in time with the song 😊
Although her voice is not the same, her voice is still communicate her soul to us. That is always music.

She is and always will be a Queen to me!!
Her vibrato is still lovely and natural.
And better than that of many her age who didn't have a botched surgery.
What a beautiful and talented lady. Even though she 'doesn't sing these days,' when she does - it is so enchanting and as strong as ever in my opinion.
It's like she's singing right to you. Voice or no voice, she touched your soul every time 🤧
She gets so much more English when she's home :) #queen #happybday #ily

Even after her surgery she still has it!! Love Julie so much
Julie Andrews is now an alto.
As an alto there’s nothing wrong that. But I will miss that beautiful soprano she used to be.
She is not a Young girl anymore 🎵😛 I😀😄😀😦
She can still sing! The voice is different, yes, but she still has singing capabilities
yes she can still even her voice is not the same

Rosemary Kriegel 4 octave. No one has a 7 octave range.
@@TheIndigoSystem , but if that were possible, Julie would have been the one to have it!
@@ajaykustomer6639 if it were possible sure. I can sing in 5 octaves on a good day
I love you even more now Julie! You are a beautiful inspiration!
Seeing this was lovely, as my two friends and I went to see this show the next evening. Everyone singing 'Edelweiss' at the end was really moving. Thanks for posting it! :-)
Elaine Prescott I'm extremely jealous! Hope you had a great time x
Megan Holly Yes it was fab, thanks. Julie is a real legend. Amazing. x

Wonderful!!!
Made me cry!!!
She still sings beautifully. Especially on that last bless, you can hear it.
I like to think that there was a special Angel in Heaven who had a special need, so it was decided that, for a while, until Julie returns Home, that special Angel could borrow that special voice!
God bless you, Julie!
I like to think that somewhere there was an incompetent doctor who destroyed her career by ruining her vocal chords
I. Love. You Julie, you're. Such an angel to me. Thanks. For. That magic you give us all. Muak
Your an inspiration dearest julie..
Her voice is amazing 😍 😍
Loved this! Thanks for sharing :D
You're right she does !
4:01 There's a high note! She still kinda got it!
that is not exactly a high note. I am a soprano singer and my soprano is no where near as good as her's was when she could sing the high notes. I can sing that more than an octave higher and my soprano voice has never been as high as her's was.

+Jazz Sirs I agree with you but when you compare what her voice was before I feel very sorry for her that she can't sing as high as she could before.
+Amanda Saunders I absolutely agree with you. It is a crying shame. X
Yes but she is still amazing
Omg I’m crying this is amazing thank you so much for uploading
Tears...
wow this is amazing
I don’t take what she sounds like….I still want to hear her voice. She’s still Julie.
Gracias por intentarlo, eres la mejor!!
Beautiful
I bet she could still sing feed the birds and fall asleep.
The yesterday soprano is now,an alto.
Diana Victoria Aljadeff Think of all she has went through after her surgery. I think it took a lot of guts to sing again in public after what happened to her.
An alto isn't a vocal classification. It's a choir role.
She's actually a coralto now.
Contralto*
That’s what I said!
she can still hit the high note at 4:01
that is not high if you knew how high she could sing before.
Amanda Saunders She only ever hit the F6 of the polonaise as child. That note was similar to what she used to sing (as an adult).
+Ihdc1 watch the edelweiss video on the sound of music and hear her sing the descant part. I am a soprano singer myself and have been given a soprano solo part more than once but my soprano voice has never been as high and as good as her's was.
blimey this isnt about you, you know....
Ihdc1 that is not a high note at all
Her voice has been destroyed and she still sounds good
Why couldn't they write songs to fit her new voice? She should have been Mary Poppins again!
They offered her a role, but she didn’t want to take the focus away from Emily Blunt! It was her choice not to be in the new one
💛💛💛💛💛
👏👏👏👏👍
Makes me sad
Maybe she can go higher than that??.. who knows?
#YouStillGotIt
She said"wait" for it" And refused to sing a few words...why?:'(
She said it because they were singing too quickly, the song gets much slower at the end. She still sang the end, she was just keeping the audience in time with the song 😊
So sad.
I thought she lost her singing voice?
She did. This is what's left.
Ihdc1 it’s still good but just different
