I'm so excited Julia Armfield has a new book coming out. Our Wives Under the Sea and Salt Slow are among my favorite books of all time! Also excited for new Carmen Maria Machado, whenever that comes out!
I'm so excited to hear that Julia Armfield has a new book coming out in 2024! I absolutely loved Our Wives Under the Sea. One of my best books of 2023. So many others here that sound wonderful that I haven't heard of before. Just added Butter, A Sign of Her Own, Jonathan Abernathy You Are Kind, In Universes, and Green Frog to my list of books to read ☺
Oh I literally did a little cheer when you said there will be a new Evie Wyld book next year! I adored her books so far and cannot wait. Similarly for the new Ali Smith and Sinead Gleeson's novel! Very exciting book year coming apparently. Of course I'm also thrilled that you will be publishing something new x
DD’s Umbrella is now on my must read for 2024! As is the new Ali Smith of course. I’m currently reading and adoring The Whole Story and Other Stories 📚
"Butter"'s translation into Spanish was published last year and that was one of my reading highlights of the year. It's fantastic. Got me on my toes from the first page to the last one.
Youve spoilt us with so many choices. As an artist im definitely looking forward to Hagstone. You looking stunning in red too with blonde hair. Everytime i see someone rocking a hair scarf I'm envious, my head is so flat everything slides off the back of it 😂
In March 2024, I'm looking forward to The Prisoner's Throne, a YA fae fantasy novel by Holly Black and the second half of the duology that began with The Stolen Heir. I think The Stolen Heir can be read without reading the trilogy that proceeds it, but I appreciated that I'd first read The Queen of Nothing. I don't know when he'll finish writing it, but I'm looking forward to Devon Price's book on shame. His non-fiction book Autism Unmasked was one of my favorite reads of 2023.
Oooh new Washington Poe! I picked up the first one last month on your recommendation - planned on only reading that one, but finished the entire series in a couple weeks. You introduced me to Frieda Klein, a series I am now thoroughly and completely obsessed with, so seeing you recommend another crime series, I knew I’d be in good hands. Thanks for the vid! Happy holidays from Toronto!
Thanks for this video. Butter sounds great. I will need to watch a second time to take in all these gems. I had my fingers crossed for a Sarah Waters so hopefully/maybe later in the year. 🙏🏻
Ooph …the ‘A Sign Of Her Own’ author’s letter really got me in the feels there…so much to relate to… straight to the top of my list she goes! Thanks so much for your wonderful work Jen, your videos are my favourite❤
I also love your anticipated reads videos - thank you for putting them together! Sea Change has intrigued me in the past - it's on my tbr. If I like it, I'll be interested in picking up Chung's next book for sure. I'm excited for Julia Armfield's new book! I loved Our Wives Under the Sea this past January and want to read her collection still too. Toward Eternity's cover is stunning - I'm looking forward to his debut
I do not comment often on how a creator “looks.” But I even noticed yr bright light in the thumbnail. Distracted me from the book recs, but, no worries, by half way in, I was adding to my 2024 TBR! 📚 Thank you! So much to look forward to in the new year! 🥳
In January a book called 'The Library of Heartbeats' by Laura Imai Messina is being published and I like the sound of the title; 'The Ferryman' by Justin Cronin is due out in May; 'Somewhere beyond the Sea' by TJ Klune due out in September, I think; 'Faebound' by Saara El-Arifi, this is the first book in a new series, due 18th January; a regular yearly release for the 'in death' series by J D Robb 'Random in death' for January, I think. Just some of the books I've heard are 2024 releases.
Hi Jen! Argentinian here, that book of Claudia Piñeiro is the continuation of yours (tuya). You can read it without reading the first one, but it's better if you do. Also Elena knows was adapted into a Netflix movie 😊
I don't know what books are coming out that I would be excited about, but there are books I own I'm motivated to read this year. Like Noli Me Tangere by Jose Rizal.
A favorite writer of mine, Balsam Karam, has one of her books coming out in English (translated from Swedish) in January, at Fitzcarraldo. It’s called The Singularity, and I think you would really enjoy it, Jen :)
I'm very excited for the next installment in the Jackson Brodie books: Death at the Sign of the Rook by Kate Atkinson is out in August (I think)! I also absolutely adored The Essex Serpent, so I'm very much looking forward to Enlightenment by Sarah Perry. A novel called The Alternatives by Caoilinn Hughes has me intrigued. Thanks for your list, Jen! Added quite a few of them to mine. :)
Ever since Our Wives Under the Sea and Salt Slow I've been desperate for a new Julia Armfield, so that has to be my top-one. I'm also very excited for the new Sinéad Gleeson and Enlightenment by Sarah Perry. Toward Eternity, A Sign of her Own and the new Ali Smith have been added to the "to watch list" as well: hadn't heard about them, but they sound great
We already have Butter translated into Spanish and I've read it this year. I think you might like it, although there were some issues with how overweight women are described and I didn't enjoy that a lot
Battleline, but it looks like they're discontinuing it. Woe! If you're in the UK, the only place you can get copies is here: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07H1NZFZ6/ref=sr_aod_dp_ttl
I have such a small list of 2024 releases so far, so I'm curious to see if I can add a few more edit: Interestingly, I've also been trying to find a book like Severance
I'm looking forward to Katherine Arden's new one The Warm Hands of Ghosts. Hagstone sounds very interesting. Inion, pronounced 'in-ee-yun' is Irish for daughter, so sounds like there's going to be a feminist/female empowerment element. Anton Hur's book sounds intriguing as well.
Love hearing about releases in 2024. Are there books you didn’t get to this year that you still want to read? What’s on your bookish Christmas wish list?
No books or bookish things on my Christmas wishlist, what about you? There are always books I'd hoped to get to but didn't, however I'm happy with my reading for this year, so I'm not worried about it ☺ x
** TWO BOOKS I FORGOT TO MENTION **
She’s Always Hungry by Eliza Clark
Keedie by Elle McNicoll
I'm so excited Julia Armfield has a new book coming out. Our Wives Under the Sea and Salt Slow are among my favorite books of all time! Also excited for new Carmen Maria Machado, whenever that comes out!

Ohhh, I love these type of videos! You have such a great selection :) I didn't know Tracy Chevalier had a new book coming out so that's exciting! xx
Very excited for Eliza Clark's short stories, too, which I forgot to mention here! x
@@jenvcampbell oh, I had no idea she had anything coming out. How exciting! Xx
I’m excited for the new Tana French book coming out this winter! ❄️
I am very envious of Tana French stans, ha. I really want to love her books but alas. x
Oh I literally did a little cheer when you said there will be a new Evie Wyld book next year! I adored her books so far and cannot wait. Similarly for the new Ali Smith and Sinead Gleeson's novel! ❤❤❤ love this wig on you Jen!
Thanks x
Butter sounds enticing. I have Bass Rock on my shelf per your recommendation & am scheduled to read it next year.
Thanks for being here, everyone ♥️ what books are you most looking forward to? x
Private Rites and Hangstone I’m most intrigued by, but they all sound like potential bangers 📖🪱💚
Wondering Stars by Tommy Orange.
The new ones by Vaishnavi Patel and Emily Itami 😊Merry Christmas 🎄
DD’s Umbrella is now on my must read for 2024! As is the new Ali Smith of course. I’m currently reading and adoring The Whole Story and Other Stories 📚

If it makes you feel better, it only stays on because it's on top of a wig. It would definitely fall off otherwise 😂 x
I added almost everyone to my wish list☺📚Thank you for keeping us informed with these new releases🤗
You're welcome ☺ x
Oooh so many exciting titles! Thanks, Jen! And that shade of red looks fab on you :)

I would guess 2025 at the earliest but we can hope! x
I need to "save" this video! So many books that caught my interest!

@@jenvcampbell ♥♥♥
Really want to check out the Julia Armfield but not allowed to get it until I read Our wives Under the Sea haha
You’ve got six months! x
Thank you looks like a great year of reading
It does! x
Thank you considering Butter for the prompt “ read a book with the yellow spine” for the 52 book club reading challenge
If you want others for consideration: Yellowface by RF Kuang and The Girl With All The Gifts are also good shouts :) x
I don't know what books are coming out that I would be excited about, but there are books I own I'm motivated to read this year. Like Noli Me Tangere by Jose Rizal.

Stillbirth is probably a subject I'll be avoiding, but perhaps some point in the future. xx
‘Fifty Beasts to Break Your Heart’ and ‘Hagstone’ sound amazing. ❤
Don't they? x

At least it has the decency to be several months away 😂 x

Big thumbs down to fatphobia 😒 x
@@jenvcampbell I still have doubts if it's just describing well the society or if it supports the ideas 🫣
Hi Jen, I remember you recommended a 2 player card game in one of your videos but I can't remember which one it was :(
Do you know which one I mean?
Battleline, but it looks like they're discontinuing it. Woe! If you're in the UK, the only place you can get copies is here: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07H1NZFZ6/ref=sr_aod_dp_ttl
A new Ali Smith!! My day is made 💜
