My husband is from San Juan and his family calls them pastelillos and he said I should tell you he always dances when he hears you theme song!

Pastelillos, soy de Morovis pero estudie en la UPR Ponce y cuando estaba alla hospedandome le decía empanadillas😃😃😃😃. Pero de cualquier manera que las nombremos son deliciosas.
I am from Mayaguez the western side of the island and we call them pastillillos because the dough is lighter, empanadas have a thicker dough and they have turned up edges.

I made these and my family lost it. That’s how good this recipe is. My Abuela is convinced I took a cooking class and didn’t tell anyone. My wife is already asking me to make more. The only thing I changed is I added two leaves of recao with the stems.

Hey guys I'm from Honduras but grew up in NJ with family that loves to cook. My family has a similar recipe especially during the holidays but we also add scallop, lobster or crab meat and with a hint of white wine Casillero del Diablo. For my family the wine and the Sazon is a must. I have never tried this with sofrito I'm now curious...

You mentioned to me in Instagram where to find the empanada dough but I totally forgot. Where? Also, ww call it pastelios for the small ones sealed with a fork and the large ones you get in food trucks with the edges twisted empamadillas. I love both!
You can find it in Walmart in the hispanic frozen section.
