Great tutorial. I do want to mention the spacers should be acid free as well to avoid turning the fabric dark. Instead of popsicle sticks which are wood, you can use narrow pieces of foam core or the sticky board you used. You can also purchase clear spacers in most hobby stores.
Great tips and here is one for everyone, use your quilting gloves when cleaning and placing your glass into position.
Personally, I never stick my X-stitch to a sticky board, since the 1969's. I will stick a thin layer of batting on the sticky of the board. I have also Ironed on non-woven interfacing, to keep stitches from unraveling from the back side, but have found the glue from the sticky board, will breakdown over time, & has discolored the few pieces I had placed against the sticky board.
I have added a tiny border of complimentary fabric, or Ric-Rack, sized pleasingly, instead of using a mat board for color, the use spacers; or used flat buttons on the fabric, which can act as spacers, if evenly spaced across the design.
Great information! As always thank you
This is brilliant Thank you
I had the same experience with a treasured picture. I did not realize it was a spacing issue. In the framing industry they call it museum mounting. I always had my work professionally framed. Often times the framing cost more than the work but I valued the time I spent doing the needlework that I always placed a high value on the final outcome. I will now give my hand at sticky board. Your tutorials make everything so easy to learn. Thank you Laura!🪡🧵💖🌟
I use balsa Wood to keep the glass off my cross stitch. Just cut thin strips to frame the glass. You cannot tell its there any it stays in place .
Great tips, as usual. Thank you for the video 😊👍💕
Good tips on framing, and such a good idea using the sticky roller.
Thanks Laura! I have a cross stitch piece I started about 40 yrs ago & finally finished it during lockdown! Had to do the dreaded outlining. You’ve given me the push to get it framed! ❤
Thank you, Laura! So cute.
I have just recently needed to reframe family photos and found some had become stuck to the glass fortunately I was able to have the photos reprinted, so happy to see your tip this morning, cheers from Australia
Thank you! So well explained and demonstrated!
This was a great lesson. Excellent point about using a spacer…and by the way, your cross stitch is very cute!!
Great project. I learned some great tips.
Great tutorial, as usual!!! I learned so much. This video will be keeper in my playlists!!! 😊❤️❤️❤️
Thanks! I just finished something and I now know how to frame it!
Good information! BTW, I have the matching pencil sharpener…orange! You’ve had the tape dispenser for a few years.🤣
Lol…I do too.
Very resourceful! Thank you!
What a sweet needlepoint pattern. Love your tips! ❤
This IS a very sweet poem. I've tried writing it down by repeatedly and repeatedly rewatching a certain portion of this video. However, I'm unsure about the last four lines. Would you be able to assist me, Laura? Or anyone? Thank you so much!
Great tips.
Thanks for the tips! I have some old needlework that needs to be mounted and I will be trying this! 🪡
Very informative! Thanks!
Thank you for the video very informative
I found the pattern link thanks.
Watching all your tutorials from the UK! Thank you for another amazing tutorial, Laura! You are a great teacher, and I learn so much from you. Best wishes from Birmingham, England! 🤗
Scotch tape won’t last but I have used the mounting boards.
I've got some cross stitch that I framed 20 plus years too and it really does stay sticky
Laura where did you get the cross stitch pattern from? I am a cross stitcher too. Thanks
Those mounting boards are expensive. Does anyone have a good source?
Hobby lobby or fat quarter shop on line
Amazon carries it in all sizes.
Oops! And it stays in place.
