TFS. It is always a pleasure to go on a journey with you. Since you ask what we are doing....I have refocused what I do with my time at home. I used to craft and sell items on consignment at a local historical farm. I may return to that but for now I am focusing my attention on my family. Sewing and crafting personal things for birthdays, weddings, and Christmas. I do have a large recipe/scrapbook/journal project going on in the background but I am mostly sewing at the moment. I took over the dining room table in March and have calculated I have until Christmas dinner to clean it up :-) There was a knee injury thrown in there which reconnected me with some hand stitching. Since a dozen or so projects all at once isn't enough, I added back in embroidery and now English Paper Piecing. Happy crafting and mess making!
How is the world 🌎 can u say "I'm no artist" I adore your work and I think you are one of the best artists I have seen. Your creativity is out of this world and you're artist techniques and ability are out-of-this-worldly beautiful!
I love the idea of using books as junk and/or bullet journals rather than tearing them apart. One example I look forward to trying is using the one textbook I saved from when I was in graduate school. (Went back to grad. school in my 40's.) After several moves, with books being SO HEAVY to pack & move, I eventually resold/donated all my textbooks, except the very first book from my very first class in my chosen field - mental health counseling. I also still have most of my paperwork from all my classes. Some I will digitalize but plan to use the textbook as the foundation for somehow incorporating a lot of the paperwork which includes all manner of psychological tests, comments from professors while observing my counseling work with clients, as well as multitudes of reports. Currently all those papers are taking up a lot of space in several HUGE 3-ring binders so keeping those papers that have meaning to me within the textbook would be great! I plan to use other books as junk journal-esque memory books of various travels. I made scrapbooks after each trip but, again, the average scrapbook is an unwieldy size. Same with photo albums. By using books, I can place them on my bookshelves much easier. Thank you for suggesting this technique. I am not "artsy" with drawing, painting, etc. Writing is my preferred art medium but I CAN arrange items within a book using tape, glue, ephemera, etc.
Please keep doing more of your junk journals and altered book(s). Festive ideas would be nice... I'm watching here in the evening and tomorrow I'll rewatch this video as I play in my altered book. 😉 thx you... watching your videos are my destressing time. Thx you!!
Three days ago I saw someone making envelopes from recycled tp rolls. I could not have imagined what she was doing! I since watched a few of your junk journalling videos, and pow!, all of a sudden I might be scrapbooking! I love all your ideas, I'm curious whether anyone journals in these, but I'm going to give it a try. 👍
I'm watching this video for the second time while getting ideas for my christmas altered journal. I like the watercolouring on the pages and will definitely do that more often. I forget it quite a bit. I'll paint a number of pages. And yes of course I also want to see more altered books but also journals. have a nice day Joie.
Hi Joie, I am new here but not to journals. I love bullet journals and use them daily. I was growing quite tired of using the same old method of designing one. This is such a great new twist on creating one. Thank you so much for this idea and the inspiration to think outside the box. I can't wait to start one. You are amazing!!!
Joie your journal page is so beautiful, I've still have not did anything except the painting of my pages & outside cover, feeling a little intimidated so I just work on my journals that are in progress. This weekend may be my chance to just go for it lol... just start with some pages here & there. Thanks for sharing and I will try my best not to over think anything and have fun with the newness of an altered book!!!!! Thanks for sharing this video this was very helpful especially with the watercolors and gesso not used. Stay Safe...

I really like this project, I'm currently making an altered book junk journal autumn themed because I love the autumnal colours and I have collected some items that are in the scheme of colours. I didn't use watercolours for back round but I will give it a try because watching you do it looks like so much fun. I have 6 watercolor pencils that I've bought from Lidl and I will borough the watercolour from my 6 years old daughter 😁
Sounds like a great plan Elena. Try out all of those supplies, have fun and see what happens!! Well done ✅ and thanks for sharing your thoughts, joie 💜🌿🍄
