In the upgrade and road services tabs, if you click and drag on the roads, you can upgrade/add trees and grass all the way down the road as far as you want.
expansion is key. Every time you get to a new level, you get a nice chunk of cash to keep you going. I am up to 40k residents and I didn’t make dime one until about 25k. Ramp up the taxes and run your services in the 60% range until it gets better. Keep adding parks too. And your people need jobs.
Well. First time I played it I was enjoying it. Set my settings to medium etc. And it's still looks and feels amazing. I'm just sad that most things are not available probably because it's early game still. I do miss the move it tool we used in CS1 ... But let's see what the future holds.
Hey Timeister, in my opinion you should seriously fix the look of the river/canal running through the city. I think it looks a bit janky and unrealistic tbh. Rest of the city looks good tho. Hope this helps
it hurts my soul how you make such a nice series and city, but then you completely butcher every traffic control rule ever (building service buildings directly on main roads (just creates constant traffic), building unnecessary arteries in your city (looking at you, elementary school) and placing low density housing at a main road in the city center...)
You are too afraid of the upkeep costs mate. A lot of the services also make the money back. You would be okay placing some of the expensive upkeep buildings. They only help make your city better and you can expand well without having to demolish buildings in future.
CS:2 wants you to take it slow. Even though you get lots of money from milestones, I am now approaching 20k and have still issues with keeping my balance in the green. CS:2 is so different with all the mechanics working together, I felt like I had to rush all the big services out there even though they were not needed... and then yeah, we still seem to have bugs and issues with industries and import / exports not working properly.
It’s easy to make money by exporting with a connection on the edge map. SurProduce your own water, electricity, wood, livestock, cereal etc... and export it is worth it. The cost to set up and to upkeep facilities or building are larger compensated by the export. Fast well educated population help a lot as they pay more taxes and increase level 5 building
Making money is indeed hard. I took me till 11k people to make money. Quick question, do cargo trains work right now? my cargo trains dont seem to move goods. Thanks in advance!
@@Luigi5241 i know. I have 3 lines, going border - cargo station - other border - cargo station - og border. Its a triangle setup but only sometimes i get cargo in the trains.
@ 35:24 Doesn't that type of street upgrade remove the option for the local residents to park on the street thus removing zonal on street parking charges?
Yes, that's the new way to do it in one go, same for upgrading to grass lined or with trees. Just start at one end and drag it all the way to the other end. And it's the same if you want to upgrade a road to one way roads, drag them the way you want the traffic to flow.
I don't like doing it, but I used Cheat Engine to change my money. Mostly to experiment around with Taxation and City Budgets. I had a clinic and citizens were constantly complaining about the city Healthcare. They still were after I replaced it with a Hospital.
I connected my train to the outside however it only gets like 5 or 6 passengers coming into town. I currently have about 30,000 population in the city. What am I doing wrong?
to answer your question of whether or not I enjoy the game, I want to enjoy it. But I can't because the performance is so terrible. I really am praying they optimize and fix the game, because I could run CS1 fine for the most part. It makes it unplayable, so ill just stick to the oldie for now.
I think I saw on someone else's video that you can do a click and drag to add road service upgrades (grass/trees) to a longer segment at a time? Dont quote me because I can't remember who's video I was watching...
@@Timeister yeah but you get so much each time you level up (which happens fast too) so even a few k negative is zero issue... when you get to 8-10k you begin to earn money if you are careful... and be skimpy with services unless they are really needed
what are you talking about making money is ridiculously easy its basically impossible to go broke. the game is way too easy when it comes to its economy
Regarding zones breaking "snapping to guidelines" is the culprit most of the time, so switching that off is often sufficient.
I don't even know why it's on by default, how I play, I almost never use it, especially with the fact you can now drag roads further than the node

i love this series so far, cant wait for more content to binge watch!!

Good luck on your series. Watching you has been inspiration for my build since I'm fairly new to the game.

I have been enjoying playing 2, but as usual with cs1, I really suck at designing cities
That's so true, especially because these maps have a really awful terrain imo
Can't wait for custom maps
36:10 i believe you can drag it to nearby roads so you dont have to do it manually. Thats how the first city skylines was.
If you dig deep and insulate well enough, you can put ANYTHING underwater.
This city will be my inspiration for when I get the game
I love this quaint little town so peaceful looking
You _can_ actually drag the update sidewalks stuff to update all at once, but yes, you do have to do trees and grass separately.
My intrusive thoughts might win at the sharp 90-degree turn on that coastal road near the canal.
Lot sizes has something to do with rent cost plus it looks like your unemployment rate is high with the need of industry and commercial

love the videos! could you begin adding cinematics at the end of these videos? i know this is more of a playthrough, but still, it would look cool^^
I want to but there's a bug on this map which prevents photo mode from working properly :/ Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

I like it better this way, looks more organic than trying to create a surburban unwalkable hell hole

Add the road maintenance thing
Your wind is strong think to ad some wind turbines maybe you can earn more money

I know this is an older video but I always put the taxes up as 10% is far too low and they wont complain if you raise to around 15% when you start off

Yup that works too.
