About Ustadh Dr. Ali Ataie
Ali Ataie is a perennial student and researcher who has been involved in interfaith activities for over two decades. He holds a Masters in biblical studies focusing on New Testament and biblical languages. He also holds a Ph.D. in cultural and historical studies in religion from the Graduate Theological Union. His doctoral work focused on Muslim hermeneutics of Biblical texts, especially the Gospel of John. He lives in San Ramon, CA, with his wife Roya and three daughters.

I totally agree with Professor Ataie about the graduate school comment. As a Muslim I felt like I couldnt even engage because the syllabus was pure materialism with a thelemite ethos

asking the question "who created the creator?" is stupid and irrational. its like asking "who has painted this painter" or "who has architacted this architecture". rather you ask "who has painted this painting" and "who has architected this building"

Dr. Ali Ataie et al in the field of comparative studies need to preach from now on - We now understand the 21st Century Laws of Thermodynamics.
And that will relieve religions alot - practically re-inventing Wisdom in them - young;
"In any system of energy, Control is what consumes energy the most.
Time taken in stocking energy to build an energy system, adding to it the time taken in building the system will always be longer than the entire useful lifetime of the system.
No energy store holds enough energy to extract an amount of energy equal to the total energy it stores.
No system of energy can deliver sum useful energy in excess of the total energy put into constructing it.
This universal truth applies to all systems.
Energy, like time, flows from past to future".
"And do not walk haughtily in the land, for you cannot (thus) rend the earth asunder, nor can you match the mountains in height".
I really enjoy listening to Dr. Ataie's lectures, but I think it's a bit presumptuous to say that Islam is superior to all other beliefs. The Vedas, Upanishads and the Gita came before Islam by a difference of thousands of years. Some could say that that makes them superior and more pure than all other religions.
Also, some could compare Islam to the Mormons due to the way that these revelations were presented to their respective faiths.
Before someone jumps all over me about making this observation, I happen to be a seeker and a mystic. I find much of Islam as being a very good faith. I just don't think that any one individual can claim that this religion or that faith is superior to all others. I believe that even someone who worships a demigod, they are worshipping God is it's essence.
Islam as a Way Of Life is something easily said than done. Have we achieved its truth, beauty and reality? Something questionable.
