The scariest videos that kept us up at night back in 2006 and paved the way for the scary paranormal UA-cam videos we know today. Using different editing techniques.

One of the scariest ghost videos I watched back in the day was the one with a little girl combing her hair while seated in front of 3 mirrors. She turns to face the camera person and in the right-hand mirror the reflection is still staring back at the girl, it is still so creepy 😳
I remember that one! Spooked me the first time, then I annoyed my friend by watching it over and over trying to work out how they done it 🤣

Remember the one with the two guys going up the stairs (in night-vision) and out from a doorway pops this really tall Nosferatu looking thing carrying a lantern? That really got me the first time!
I think the same thing happened to the paranormal that happened to the rest of the internet - monetization. You don't see anything like Marble Hornets or Lonelygirl15 anymore. They were corny, sure, but at least it was people trying to make movies in a new format. Now it's just channels like MindSeed chasing ad revenue, and everybody's thumbnails look the same because "the algorithm" demands it.
I was on Something Awful when Slender Man was created-and I agree the early stages had some seriously creepy results (there was one Marble Hornets video that I watched while slightly drunk where I totally admitted to myself that it was fake. But I was not going to look out the window while I was closing the blinds, just in case).

Nothing is better than revisiting blasts from the past with Dandalf the Paranormal Debunking Time Wizard.
Creepiest one which I can’t find was an old vhs recording of supposed poltergeist activity caught by paranormal investigators. They were in the kitchen and a girl was sitting at a table trying to draw and the table or chairs were shaking and she sat there crying while the adults were soo happy to capture it.

The guy who played The Rake in that video was a European fashion model. Sad thing is he was actually emaciated. He suffered from bolemia and was starving himself to stay that thin

Dan have you done a video on "Most Authentic ghost footage of all time"? That creeped me out back in the day.
It's supposedly shows ghostly apparitions walking in the woods at Gettysburg.

The one taken near the horse trail? I think Mr Grey debunked it. It was people on horseback being filmed through the trees by ppl in a clearing at a slightly higher elevation. The camera is old, and the perspective makes it things hard to male out.
Interesting true fact about the hotel security guard footage. The guard is a guy called Clay Turner. He is an actor director and if you look up the Blackwell Ghost film series on Prime that's his passion project. It's filmed like style of documentary investigation and is 8 films in and quite entertaining. A LOT of people think those films are real (they aren't of course) but they're worth a look.
John Wolfe did a brilliant video about this guy and his Blackwell Ghost creation, I highly recommend anyone to check it out, especially given how dry and funny John Wolfe is, his debunking vids are hilarious 😂

John Wolfe did a very nice job breaking the movie down. Turner even has the clip in the first movie. He pretended it was filmed by someone else and calls it out as fake. The clip Mr. G played Turner is the one doing the voices and that's him walking in the room.
The second video were a couple of possums, and the "lady" in the closet is the guy posting. You can see his legs with shorts on at the bottom of the door before the "ghost" appears at the top. Lol!

The hotel ghost video is from a movie called The Blackwell Ghost which released in 2017, the "Rake" video or more commonly known as "Possible Fallen Angel in Catalonia was actually a promotional video for Diesel or some designer company to promote their new line of clothing.
Came here to see if the "Possible Fallen Angel in Catalonia" video popped up. Ha ha, yeah, there it is. Still think about that one, every now and again. Wild that we never got any kind of explanation on that.
The hotel one is an early video by the low budget film maker turner clay. The maker of the Blackwell ghost series
Oh yeah, the hotel room one is done by a film maker who has this series of movies on Amazon called The Blackwell Ghost, they're SUPER well done and are a nice little spooky low budget found footage, and he carried through with the tension in the first 3 or 4 films in the series, highly recommend, half way recommend the last 2 or 3 lol (they've started to go into a true crime direction). He even features the video in the first Blackwell ghost film
Having seen a younger Mr G now the vision of you in a civil war nurse's uniform is competing with a baby Mr G looking exactly the same in my nightmares 😅

IIRC, the video with the “rake” was for an ad (video game?) - it’s a “fallen angel” - they found a feather, and the thing had wounds on its back where wings would have been.
Oh now you mention, i seem to remember hearing something about that. Going to have to look up the ad :)
Was just coming over here to say that, lol. I believe actually that there’s more than one of these advertisements. I’m not sure what they were used for though. I’ll have to check it out as well.

I know you said you had photoshop in the 80s but what about stuff that could add sled-designed digital effects to video available to random joes instead of just movie producers early on? It would be required to explain the video “Venezuela miracle host” whose earliest copy on UA-cam is from February 2007!
I think the only scary vid was that one with the car - I nearly ended up in the ceiling when I first saw that one.

One that sticks out as scaring the shit out of me back in the day was called "ghost girl crying", on guy terry's channel
There was a video, maybe early 2000's, I think he's a college student... in his apartment and his door knob rattles violently. He sounds like he's hyperventilating he's huffing so loudly. His hands were shaking when he went to the door and opened it. That one STILL scares the crap out of me even though I know it was more than likely fake.

My first intro to UA-cam was a friend saying “watch two girls, one..” 😱 Lil did I know how big UA-cam would get. MySpace was so promising but … losing steam. I spent several years not using internet except for my job because I just wanted to kick back at technology so I missed a lot of this. Cut to a few years ago and slapped ham and I loved it but couldn’t figure out how it was done. I typed in debunk slapped ham and found you!
This was a wild time warp! Although, no so long ago, yet people believed everything.
Hey Dan, I’m writing this at the beginning of your vid so don’t know if you’ve included it but the first ever jump scare I saw on my huge computer in I think 2004 ish was the one with the long winding road with a car on and it tells you to get close to the screen and really concentrate on the car,then suddenly you have the witch face screaming in your face, I shot back in my chair, literally scared the shit out of me and took five minutes for my heart to stop racing, since then I’ve been bloody terrified of jump scares since 🤦🏻♀️

I absolutely loved this blast from the past MrGrey ❤️ The good old days of the true jump scares! Back when we really thought these were real. My Sweetie and I used to sit together in front of the 1 screen,watch these videos in his office, and were truly freaked out. We would also sit together and play, Spot the differences games, or find these objects in this picture together. Now, we both sit with our own Ipads, own phones, play separate games,etc.. We thought back to those fun days when people actually did more together. We do enjoy UA-cam videos together on UA-cam, like wonderful channels like yours. He has even subscribed separately and started leaving comments, so ya have a New Fan & Subscriber.

There was a Japanese video a few years back of a couple looking around a house that was for sale, they go into a room and the guy opens a cupboard and there is a man lying on his side, on one of the shelves...tbh it looked a bit fake...I mean why video a cupboard? But it was still genuinely a bit scary...

This is the thing that bugs me the most about this video, and ive never heard anyone point it out.
In the whole video until this point, you could see and hear when john is talking into the radio. Its complete gibberish, but you can see him in the video hold up the radio to his face, then you hear the gibberish.
Suddenly, at this point, john said that he wants them to call the police, everything is upside down, etc, but he never held the radio up to his face, and we never heard any gibberish. So why could we see and hear everything else john said except for all the creepy stuff? All the important stuff he said was somehow missed? It doesnt make sense, and it bugs me that nobody talks about it😂

This reminds me of another video that seems to be deleted. That one was about old paranormal flash videos I used to watch in college. Dude found the exact ones I used to watch. They were kind of like multiple stories of paranormal stuff in one video. Usually they would end with a jump scare with a still image and ask you to look closely. Lmao

@@hellishbound Yes those are the ones! I have been looking to watch those again, for nostalgia. The video I saw was kind of just going over them and reminiscing with some commentary. The channel was called something like Internet Librarian or Archivist or something along those lines.

I found this old video i used to watch back in the day that had a lot of creepy ghost clips. My favorite clip is around 5:10. I've always been curious about its origin but I never really bothered to look into it. I love your videos by the way!
