How often do you use this product to maintain your desired end result? If you stop using the purple shampoo will your hair go brassy again?
Add T18 or 14 Toner to neutralize the yellow to tone the hair down. Other than that love the platinum look. They also they don't keep using shimmer lights because it will deposit brown in your hair after so many uses. Learnt that from UA-cam. Thankyou for the video interesting. Amy Forgione Brooklyn NYC
Shimmer Lights is not a dry shampoo...it's Shampoo!! Being a Black Woman whose had grey hair since my late teens I just couldn't commit to dying my hair so often, however.. Relaxing my hair had turned my grey a brownish color that I did not like & I learned of this shampoo back in cosmetology school. I've been using Shimmer Lights for many years & only let it sit about 5 minutes on my wet hair & use a deep conditioner after rinsing. My grey hair POPS....SILVER & I LOVE IT💕💕...Very many compliments on how my grey shines & it's ALL NATURAL grey hair😉😉

I believe it only drys your hair if it’s already damaged from coloring. I put it on my (dry) gray hair and it gave my hair more body. I left it on for 10 minutes, then put a conditioner on for a minute. It’s not dry but it does look better.

You guys please don't use this shampoo on dry hair or leave it on for an hour!!! It will do serious damage to your hair and make it very dry. It Will also deposit to much purple into hair that is damaged or platinum color. U just want to deposit the purple color gradually. It's not meant to use for an hour or on dry hair.

@@kristitime u can use the shampoo that u used but on wet hair like the directions suggest. Or u can use toner. It lasts longer on the hair than shampoo. If u use the purple shampoo on dry hair it is more likely to be patchy bc the hair has different levels of porosity in diff spots. If you use it wet the water helps the hair to absorb the purple more evenly so u don't get hotspots. But I would suggest purple or blue toner depending on how yellow your hair starts out.

I believe she lightened again, purple shampoo does not lighten orange hair with red undertones, to white hair. She bleached somewhere in between before achieving the final result.
It depends on the hair strands, if you have thick hair it won’t work that much I guess, my hair has thin strands thats why it worked

Could someone tell me how much purple shampoo you’re supposed to use or does it depend how bright your blonde is? I am going to dye my hair blonde tomorrow and I’m a little excited but also worried because I don’t really know much got here meeting other than using purple shampoo and keeping it hydrated by using coconut oil. yolanda fonseca you can use olaplex but it’s kinda pricey for a small bottle, i also use fanola no orange mask to tone my hair now and i love it, it makes my hair easy to brush

just use a really hydrating conditioner and if its still dry afterwards just let your hair sit in a moisturizing hair mask for 15-30 minutes

For those who say this shampoo dried their hair out.. use a “pre-poo” method. It’s where you drench your hair in oil like coconut oil or olive oil so when you use this it won’t be as drying.

There's many ways to tone hair. And everyone is different with their preferences. Like I hate the fact that I have bleach my hair, cause I don't like the chemicals, it's never nice to my hair. And I don't want to tone it with even more chemicals. So watching videos with people giving you other alternatives to toning your hair is helpful for me. Everyone who suggested that her method was a waste of money can shut up. This video is helpful to others. I see way to many comments on people's hair dye videos stating they did something wrong, when really it's their decision to do this to their hair, and it can also be helpful to others who have similar hair. So again, negative nancys become.

I did thirty mins and alot of hair started falling off and I put it straight dry. It works way better getting your hair wet and adding the shampoo and leaving it in for 5-8 mins the most, rinse then buy a deep moisturizer that is going to help your hair restore ... Looks nice though just becareful

I have this shampoo and conditioner and it seems to work a little but it says to use like once or twice a week or something so I don’t use it that often.. I’m curious if she used it more often than that with those results.. I even did the same thing when I first got it and applied it to my dry hair lol

Increase the time. If you shampoo 2x a week using a purple shampoo, leave it on 3 mins. Next time go up to 5 mins. See if that works. You dont need to wash more than that unless sweating a lot the gym. You can always just wet the hair in a shower to rinse. You dont need to do on dry hair or leave in 1hr. That might leave purple in your hair.

Best results Damp toweled dried hair so not dripping wet then apply and leave on for desired time usually 1-5 or 15 mins .... rinse and good conditioner

much less expensive in the long run to just buy a 4.00 bottle of blue/orange toner and a 7.00 bottle of activator , tone it properly... then follow up a week later or so with the very pricey purple shampoos and conditioners. Using half a bottle of 14-24.00 shampoo to tone is just kinda crazy.

costs 9.00 where I live... toner is 2.99 and I have a big bottle of the mix you use with it so it costs me a little over 3.00 to use toner. 6.00 saved.
Some people can't use toner because of the strong smell. Makes me feel like passing out and I'm allergic to the smell. I'd much rather use a shampoo.

I use to do hair, and I just wanted to tell you and anyone that needs brassiness gone, you can basically do this by mixing red n blue food color up and put it in shampoo until it's dark purple,

It literally says on the back of the bottle how to use this you wash your hair with it with wet hair don't use it on dry and leave it on for 5 minutes it works great when you do it like that but people are using it on dry and I don't know why

i think applying it to dry hair would be better because you would be sure to saturate all of your hair with the shampoo. if it is wet, it seems it would be hard to tell if you got the shampoo everywhere that it needed to go

@@ItsRossKelker I bleached my hair then it was/is brassy af. So I tried Wella toner in t11 and t18 and it did nothing. So I am using the shimmering lights and it too didn't do anything. I've done it twice now and gave up. I'm adding purple, pink and blue streaks throughout my whole head as we speak. But thank you. #thelasvegasmermaid
Oh my I’m so sorry to hear this, I hope the shimmer lights will eventually work for you, if not maybe try fanola no yellow shampoo I haven’t tried it though I just tried the fanola no orange and I think it’s pretty good, but if trying to achieve platinum blonde I still think shimmer lights is the best

chelate your hair first? check out @ellebangs videos for how to chelate your hair. basically it strips your hair of all the product build up from conditioners, hair spray, etc. so the color or toner or toning shampoo can penetrate your hair to effect the color! It's also very healthy to do periodically and can make a difference in volume. my hair weighs down easily, but when I chelate my hair is instantly voluminous and it curls up! Basically I never knew I had curly hair... 🙄

use a lot of regular conditioner after rinsing the purple shampoo
Don't do this every day. It can stain your hair purple.
Be very careful using this shampoo because it can permanently stain fiberglass bathtubs should a drop or two get on it (in concentrated form) and you don't rinse it off
I know this is old but anyone watching this just put it on your trouble parts trust me. It will turn the hair that’s already blonde or platinum purple I mean the purple will wash out I promise but I’m just saying if your planning on going somewhere or something.

I am 70 and have full grey hair. The Shimmer lights Shampoo followed by a leave in conditioner makes my hair soft and silky The grey pops. I can not use their conditioner because IT leaves my hair straw like, even with additional leave in conditioner. Go figure. Finding the right product\products can be a bit of a journey.

People need to understand that shimmer lights WILL NOT work to cancel orange hair. Shimmer lights is to cancel YELLOW tones. You need a BLUE based shampoo/toner to cancel orange. And yes, I’m a cosmetologist 🙋🏼♂️
