Hello Alex, I've been a Wes Montgomery fan since I was in highschool in the 1960s. I play guitar and Wes was a big influence. I love your transcriptions. The really sound like him. Keep up the great work. Rony Be.
"Undisputed heavy weight champion!" 🤣 Got that right! Phenomenal lesson here just subscribed and I'll check out the rest of your videos! Plus free pdf, can't beat that offer! 🤣🤣🤣
Hey Alex! What a great lesson! Thanks so much for dissecting and explaining these amazing licks! I've been waking up early each morning to get a couple more under my fingers and into my ears! So glad I found you! Any tips for how to work them up into those fast tempos would be great, too! Cheers!
Thank you very much for this and all of your other lessons. I am just at the beginning stage of trying to learn how to play jazz guitar and these videos are a huge help. Thanks!
A beautiful video . I am a lover of Wes's playing , but I'm practising these licks on chromatic harmonica . Your video gets right down to business with useful insights into what is happening in these licks . Thankyou !
Hi, great teaching from you and excellent skills. Wondering of could You made with this method some whole song of Herb Ellis? It’s perfect way for me and I think many of us to better remember melody by practicing licks with You like here, but with whole songs. Kind regards from Poland 😊
I really dig your approach to teaching Wes Stuff. I just started playing bumpin', and it has taken me a very l long time; probably not the best song choice to start learning jazz. Do you have a video of improving my thumb speed and left hand?
Wes used a 6 string Danelectro bass - my nerdy intuition makes me think it compliments James Clay's flute. At least jazz makes nerds cool 😀 Great licks, I really like that ya slowed em down too, cheers from county Devon, England.
Great stuff here. Saw another vid where you were ranking underrated players. Haven't heard a player yet that truly understands how great Wayne Krantz is, that can't also play their own ass off. Haha. Subbed.
Thank you for checking out the channel! That means a lot! Now that the school semester is winding down I’m going to be posting regularly again! Stay tuned!
The major seventh over the flat 7th is what is confusing to me, but it's done a lot in Jazz. What is your spelling or theory, just a simple passing tone from nowhere? In secondary dominants is where you see it a lot.
These are great. And your playing is, too. This is not a complaint: The last two eighth notes in the notation for the second bar of the ninth example don’t match what you’re playing, which sounds right.
I thought there would be two hundred fifty one licks 😛 Those rhythmic phrases (along with the accents) are absolutely swinging---I'm actually more interested in that more than the notes. Great playing by the way.
Thank you for the PDF's.
No problem!! Hope they are helpful! Happy jammin

Very nice Wes primer or intro to Wes. Well selected.
Nicely done, once again.
Such. Wonderful lesson, please post more!
Thank you!! More coming soon, I promise! Happy Jammin!!
Another GREAT lesson Alex. Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for checking it out Greg! 🙏 Like I always say... “It always comes back to Wes!”
Thanks!

Glad you liked it!! Cheers!
Alex, just discovered your channel. This was a really excellent presentation for me. Thx!
Great lesson. Did the same on this song years ago, and this has worked beautifully for me.
i wish i had had an access to videos like this 40 years ago. thanks!

Many thanks! I’m working on a Mark Whitfield licks lesson that will be up next week. Make sure to stick around and check it out too! Cheers!
What a lesson! Right on the money 👌 Subbed 👊
You always do really great stuff Sir.
Thanks James! Appreciate the support. Happy Jammin!
According to what I've read it was his brother, Monk Montgomery, who played electric bass.
Nice playing and way to go tracking Wes!
Great video. Thanks!
Thank you
Alex
Electric bass player is Wes' brother, Monk Montgomery
This is groovy, thanks for slowing down as well. May I ask where does one find the backing track to practice?
I just made the backing tracks in iReal Pro app!
Great content man you rock
Thanks Michael! Rock on!
Beautiful
Wonderfull!
Nice lesson
thank you very much
Ottimo lavoro 🎉
Thank you 🙏🤘
Great job 💪
I'm wondering if he's mixing the major and minor pentatonic here aswel
How do I purchase the TABS kindly send me the links 🙏
Could have been a typo. Monk Montgomery, his brother, played bass in ihs group.

Melodic Lines Thanks

excellent analysis !! curious, what Ibanez model is that. beautiful guitar
Alex
I'd like to know what model guitar, what brand and string dimensions, and what amp and effects that you are using. Sounds great. Thanks

Good sounds and information. What model is your Ibanez guitar?
Thanks so much for watching! It’s an Ibanez JSM100 (John Scofield Signature)
Good~~
Is that an Ibanez with stock pickups? It has a nice fat sound to it.
Yes! Early Ibanez john Scofield signature… 2001 JSM100. I believe the pickups are Super 58s!
Amazing tone! Are you playing through a Fender champ or Princeton?
Can't tell.
@@U2BER2012 Thanks! Princeton!
@@AlexNaumanMusic Keep up the great lessons.
Wes played an electric baritone guitar on that recording
and his first instrument was a baritone guitar.
It's hard to know what to say to people who think there is any such thing as a GOAT in guitar playing.
That’s probably fair 😂🤷♂️ Cheers!
He's the goat, in my opinion. I'm pretty sure I'm not alone on that one
what guitar brand is that?
It’s an Ibanez John Scofield signature model!! JSM100 I believe. They now make a cheaper version too
You're my teacher from now I will be checking more videos please help me to be a jazzman

do Django!
Ooooo good call!!! I’ll get one up on the next week or so!!
nice would love if you checked out some of my playing - tried to learn jazz i failed lol
Wes played single note lines with 3 fingers of his left hand.
These are great. And your playing is, too. This is not a complaint: The last two eighth notes in the notation for the second bar of the ninth example don’t match what you’re playing, which sounds right.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Wes could play the same lines with octaves, then with chords
The range is low because he is playing a bass on this track.
I thought there would be two hundred fifty one licks 😛 Those rhythmic phrases (along with the accents) are absolutely swinging---I'm actually more interested in that more than the notes. Great playing by the way.
