Ren Ferguson Co. - Circassian Walnut Nick-a-Like Acoustic Guitar
Recently had the incredible honor of recording a few demos for the Ren Ferguson Co. up in Bozeman, MT. These hand built guitars are easily the best sounding and most beautiful acoustic guitars I have ever held in my hands or heard in person. A ton of work went into these videos and I'm incredibly grateful for the hard work and friendship that it took to make this happen!
This guitar is a "Nick-a-Like" model and is loaded with custom details and features! An Adirondack Spruce Soundboard,Circassian Walnut back & sides, hand-carved neck, pierced inlay package, Flur De Lis headstock inlay, and comes with a custom hard shell case! So cool!!!
HUGE thanks to Bob Brown of Ship's In Studios (Billings, MT) for audio engineering, Steve Brown of Gallatin Studios (Bozeman, MT) for photography and video production, and of course the support and graciousness of Ren, Tim, Virginia, and the whole Ren Ferguson Co crew for this opportunity!
We will be sharing clips here and on other social media soon, so please subscribe and keep a look out for more!

I'm trying ti look for an elbow adapter to have the microphone in doen position. Tried looking for 1/4 female to 5/8 male L Shape adapter. It is possible to find it? Thanks
Wow i also play this song 👏 the music is amazing 🎉🎉😂
Great video. Thanks!
ii-V-i intensifies
Lenny Breau could play it
🤣 I mean technically you are correct
Very nice, thank you
Cheers!! 🙏
Can you share the knob settings for 6:18? Vibro champs are the best!
Impresionante.. espectacular!
😂😂😂😂😂...
🤷♂️
I think this song was our high school graduation song. Whew!
Awesome! Haha!
trying to learn the guitar and stumbled upon this vid, this is amazing 😮
Thanks for checking it out! 🙏
I’ve had a few Vibro Champs. A ‘71, ‘75 and the 1978 that I have now. It’s a great amp. Takes pedals so well. And hey, if it was good enough for Bob Dylan to record with then it’s good enough for me. I love playing The Smith’s How Soon Is Now? with it on my Frankenstrat that has a Billy Corgan signature model DiMarzio bridge pickup. Ha! Ha! Ha!
I think it’s my favorite amp now!!
o início me lembra "Samba de uma nota só"
Would this be considered like a typical bossa nova chord progression/rhythm?
Yes!! Totally
Thank you for combing your hair 🪮 🙏
bossa nova chill
57a and 906 are great mics, but to me, nothing compares to an Ehrlund EHR-E for guitar cabs. Also like the Telefunken M81 better than any mic in this video.
Terry was a bomb rest in peace
Great Vid Dude!
Thanks for checking it out!!
Comping with henriksen and solos with fender
I like the alnicos at lower levels. If you actually cranked that thing, maybe with some humbuckers, the ceramics can get nice and crunchy. The alnicos may not handle the low end as well. These amps make great pedal platforms if you want some drive at lower volumes. They sound particularly good with the boss od-3.
Very well played and great sound! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you!! 🙏 Cheers!
Hey I've been playing guitar for a very long time. I have a rock metal, blues background. I'm wanting to get into funk Jazz. What are a couple of songs just starting out with Jazz that you could recommend learning?
Heck ya! Check out Cold Duck Time, Cantaloupe Island, Chameleon, Red Clay, Mr Clean, Jody Grind!
Could have been a typo. Monk Montgomery, his brother, played bass in ihs group.
Hendriksen sounds like mud. No thanks.
i wish i had had an access to videos like this 40 years ago. thanks!
Thanks for watching! Glad it was helpful. Stay tuned for more!! 🙏
Really good to see his rhythm playing recognized. Nice job! His rhythm playing on 25-6-4 (live at Tanglewood) is off-the-charts. I think he was wound up a little tight that day - couldn't wait for the tech to get the drum kit fixed.
Yes! Incredible stuff! Thanks for watching 🙏🙏
Amazing!
So many crazy details!
Such a magical moment in time ❤
Much more to come too! 🙏🙏
Why so much bass? Most Fenders flub hard with bass past 6. Not necessary for recordings either
Ehhhhh…. I like my tone THIIIIIIIIICK 😂
Amazing work
Thank you!!!🙏
Wrong key wrong chords
Ummmmm…. ?
Love this ❤
Thanks for watching!!!
Stunning sides on that guitar!
Why they insist on making solid state amps with a closed back puzzles me endless. Other than the only one I like - the Roland JC amps. They all sound like they have sinus congestion.
I had a JC120 back in the day. It was such an awesome amp!! Like an idiot I traded it for something else. Regret it to this day
Nah that amp doesn’t have the issue. The white noise is normal amp. Some of these units emit a loud electrical buzz not white noise. I was going to purchase one but tried it at a Guitar Center and the noise could even be heard while playing the guitar. My daughter could clearly hear it and was like what is that noise.
Yeah this one didn’t sound too bad. I’ve seen other videos where it was way worse!
He buscado tutoriales por 2 días y ahora me salió el tuyo <3
Bravo
🙏🙏🤘
Excellent job on the legendary Terry Kath without a doubt one the greatest guitarist ever! Please do more of this!
Thanks!! 🙏
UA-cam is the absolute worst medium to be attempting to judge the sound of amps. Anything can be made to sound like anything. The sound of the amp is not the most important thing either, it is the 'feel' of the amp. The only way to determine and judge that is to be sitting right in front of it in the same room. Outside of that all of these internet comparisons are utterly useless and redundant.
Well I make these videos primarily for my own curiosity and knowledge. if it helps some people out, awesome. If not, well… Thanks for watching anyway? 🤷♂️
I have the sm7b scarlett solo and a cloudlifter, it sound great maybe a little floor noise but sound great another thag i dont know how to fix is that even with the cloudlifter i hear my voice not loud enough even though the colume is almost at the max gain
How did your Henrikson end up sounding so flat and muddy? They are not meant to sound like that at all. ua-cam.com/video/359TXgaOtVU/v-deo.html
Lovely tune,thanks for uploading😎🎸🎶
Thanks for checking it out. Cheers!
I own a 1976 Vibro Champ and 2 Champs from 1975 and 1976. They all sound amazing and they're simple but effective. The sounds you can get from them are simply amazing considering the size! I have the original Oxford alnico in the Vibro. The Champs both have the Jensen P8V that really do the amp justice. Good video, but they sound even better in person, trust me!
Both amps sound great. Would have been great if you tried matching the brightness of the Princeton on the Henriksen.
Hey bro!! What gauge strings are you using on your Ibanez? And are you using a wound round 3rd string? I have that same guitar. Just curious. By the way, fantastic 2 5 1 lines. Thx👍🙏👍
Terry was the man and my all time guitar hero . Thanks for keeping his legacy alive. 👍
It's sounds nice, but im not sure what fret it begins on sooo i can't play it..... perhaps you'd be willing ta reiterate/iterate where to start from???
This scale shape is moveable up or down the neck but in this example I’m starting from the 5th fret on the low E string (key of A)
Ahh cool thanks....its because i couldn't see the headstock and then count down the frets...
Fender wins.
Several years ago I put a 12" speaker in my reissue Princeton Reverb. At the time Mojotone offered a 12" baffleboard that was an easy swap-out. Yes, it is a tight fit but wasn't difficult at all. Mojotone still offers this BB but they are custom built. Check with them for lead-times.
