@wesknipp Hey Wes, thanks for checking this out! Admittedly, it's been a little while since we've revisited this game - there's been too much time in between the initial release, and when they actually released some DLC with substance. However, that doesn't change the amazing time we had with this game on our first play of it! As for upgrading, what seems to be your biggest issue? We'd likely recommend upgrading fishing poles before engines, as engines are more for convenience than anything. If you don't travel too much at night, there really isn't too much to avoid (albeit, there are the bosses in each area, but they can be completed without upgrading engines (even though upgrades will make it easier!)). When you upgrade a specific item for your boat, it'll increase the number of equippable slots so you can place more/bigger equipment, which then allows you to gain some overall efficiency! For the actual placement of the equipment, it's essentially just Tetris within your allotment of equippable slots. I believe where you can actually mount the equipment to your boat, there will be little "hook" icons inside the squares. Don't forget, you can rotate the equipment to make things fit a little better - this can sometimes come in real handy, and be the difference of equipping only one items versus two! Hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please let us know! We'd be happy to try and help as much as we can!
@@friendlyfrenzygames awww, ty!!! U answered my questions I'm there. I'm brand new with the game so I wasn't sure exactly how the upgrade system works in this game , but now it makes sense after the explanation of things. Ty very much!!!!!!!!!
right on, glad to hear it! yeah, for some reason we didn't upgrade until a little later either. we spent time researching upgraded tools, just to not be able to fit them onto the ship so we learned that lesson pretty early haha. let us know if you need anything else, and we'll hopefully be able to have an answer for ya!@@wesknipp
@kris_rocksteady_9359 thanks for watching and taking the time to drop a comment, appreciate it! I hope they helped. Admittedly, haven't played DREDGE in a little while so I hope these are still relevant. And yeah, I didn't really know what to expect for those ships the first time I encountered one. I really did think it was a trader or something until I got close. 😅 If you're just starting out on your DREDGE experience, enjoy it! Definitely one of those games that just looks and feels different than so many other games out there right now!
@ChrisPatti Hey Chris, Thanks for checking this out. Hopefully the tips still ring true, this was initially made when DREDGE first released which is almost a year ago at this point... it's a few updates behind. FYI, you might find added benefit in crab pots, many others did, but it was too slow for us which is why we didn't include them as an essential tip in this. Just wanted to shed some light on that as well though incase it helps! Have a great one! 🙏
@MsCherryKiss hoping they're still relevant, a lot of patches, updates and additional content has come out since this video was made so keep that in mind. Otherwise, thanks so much for taking the time to check this out and dropping a comment! Have a great one! 🙏
@harrybishop7206 definitely a viable option as well especially if you keep circling back to the same place, UT honestly, that really wasn't a primary method of earning for us since we tried to keep pushing progress to the next town. We'd much rather just stick to fishing! We used crab pots for the specific encyclopedia entries later but that's really it!
@@friendlyfrenzygames fair enough, i mainly followed the same path till the endgame where i was going for the research achievements and that sort of stuff
@@harrybishop7206 totally fair! The game is very linear and not all thar challenging but it was still very enjoyable to play and collect everything. Hoping that the DLC will eventually add a lot, there hasn't been much additional content so far with these free updates, but we'd like to hop in and play some more!
@@harrybishop7206 yep, on the devs roadmap they've got some paid DLC coming down the pipe! Not exactly sure of many details, when it's going to release or how much it'll cost, but there's something supposedly coming!
@HumboldtSqu1d I guess that really depends on the type of experience you want to have. This tip video was made solely for those looking to experience the game how it was meant to be played, but definitely, if you find it difficult or really just want to enjoy the mini games, passive is the way to go.
I love this game but im struglling with upgrading and how the fishing poles and engines work where u place them at
