I've lived and worked in Croydon for the past 30 years plus and volunteered with what was then the BTCV which became the TCV and remember spending many a happy couple of days up on Shirley Hills clearing bracken and gorse. The Croydon area, very sadly, has changed beyond all recognition and has become a slum under the auspices of a rotten Council! Excellent video Sean.
Ahhh this video brings back memories for me. I lived in this area many moons ago. The roads seem a lot busier now than they used to be. There used to be an old blue police phone box at the bottom of the hill! Thank you I really enjoyed this😊
Great video ! I often go to the view point as my family live nearby in Woodside , I've never been to Mary's , but will now thanks to you, about 8 years ago I was in sainsbury car park west wickham & saw a rolls Royce i was staring at it & suddenly noticed Ronnie Corbett waving to me from the drivers seat , it made my day as many years ago I watched him in panto at the Bromley theatre wearing a tutu dancing across the stage , still makes me chuckle now ! I now live in south Wales x
There's another church in Croydon that's over 1000 years old, the Croydon Minster, or at least the clocktower is, there was a fire in the 19th century and the church was rebuilt to the same design again. The route you took was my stomping ground in my late teens, I used to get the 130 bus to college at John Ruskin. There is a hidden cycle path that goes from Addington Park all the way to West Wickham, Beckenham and beyond to Bromley.
I found that very interesting, thank you, as I was born and lived in Norbury for 50 years and I knew Addington,, but not as well as I thought. But I do enjoy learning walking
Loved your woodlands walk very interesting, will miss your lovely theme tune, I am against bon fire. If they cut all this vegetation and left it in a pile for little creatures to seek shelters and refuge during the winter it would eventually rot down and create a lot of carbon fungi food for the soil in the area. The burning is not doing any good to the atmosphere. Looking on the bright side your walk ended up in a beautiful spot it looks just like the West End common close to where live thank you for this great video.
