The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry has conducted a policy review of the rabies virus risk in imported dogs, cats and canine semen from approved countries.
Starting on 1 March 2023, for dogs and cats from group 3 approved countries either
• returning animals of Australian origin or those that have had their identity confirmed by an official veterinarian, a post-entry quarantine (PEQ) of at least 10 days is required is animals are prepared in compliance with the pre-export measures
or
• for all other animals prepared in compliance with the pre-export measures, a PEQ period of at least 30 days is required.

Are there any additional steps to be taken if dogs are coming from Namibia?

hi! Im from Dubai and I'm planning to bring my 1 year old Himalayan mixed Persian cat to aus.still no idea how to start .
Hi Nadie! How exciting that you are coming to Aus :) You will have to contact a pet migration company in Dubai to assist with your cat. But you will have to start the whole process long before you actually want to be able to be in Aus as it takes time to get all the blood tests and vaccinations done for the animals. And Dubai might have different rules to when bringing in an animal from South Africa to Australia.
I have been in Australia for 8 months without my Boston terrier, and I am starting get get hopeless of her getting here. We have done all the tests, vaccines and verified her microchip. The only problem now is getting her here, because Qantas is constantly delaying the time that they can bring snub nose dogs into the country. Is there anything else that I can do? (I live in Tasmania)
Ah I'm SO sorry to hear this. It seems like a bit of an ongoing battle, still now with getting any snub nose dogs. Hopefully there will be some resolve very soon though. Who is she staying with at the moment?

No everyone has to go through the permit and quarantine process. Takes a year minimum!
