In this day of greedy lumber yards and home centers jacking the price of plywood out of all proportion to the shortages the lumber industry hasn't actually suffered due to the pandemic; being able to make an actually useful scrap lumber rack out of a single sheet of plywood is amazing. Great job using what looked like every tiny scrap of that sheet. Totally ripping this off for my shop.
4 years on after you dropped this and I added it to my little shop today. It's my 3rd actual build in mid life journey and the best so far. Thanks for sharing it and keeping the plans alive!
Just finished making my second one of these. My first used Baltic Birch. Second was the economy model. OMG people stick with the good plywood. After an hour of cussing the splits, voids and failing glue I was ready to burn my entire house down in a fit of stupid rage. After a beer tranquilizer I finished but I genuinely recommend the extra few dollars to avoid quitting woodworking all together. Thanks for the epic video and keep up the good work. From one former frustrated saw dust maker.
Jason s I was in a rush and bought a warped piece of plywood from HD...big mistake. I’m enjoying making this cart but will have to do it again with a nicer piece of plywood.
I was thinking the same thing on the plywood...why does everyone's plywood look so much better on these videos??? The plywood at Lowe's and Home Depot usually looks like crap. And I'll have to remember your beer tranquilizer comment...love it!!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. This is very helpful especially for me, having limited tools, but enough that I can do this with what I have. Great video, great explanation.
My dad and I built this today. The plans were so easy to follow and the video walkthrough covered everything and then some. Wish I could post a pic, so much better then cardboard boxes full of wood! 😊
@MakeEverything thanks for the lesson and tips...I have one for you! I recently had to improvise to reach a hard area. Unfortunately I don't have a 90° head for my drill. I threw the driver bit into the end of a socket wrench! One hand to guide and one to turn worked really well.
Just built mine out of a sheet of oak plywood. Turned out nice. I off set the bottom all to one side to give a larger storage on just the one end. I wanted to pay for your plans but couldn't find them on your website, so I just screenshot them. Thanks for the great idea for my tiny shop!
Built one of these this week, really pleased with the unit, thanks for taking the time to put this video and plans together, really handy this is all from a single sheet and being straightforward. I’m hoping this will help me sort out scrap wood stashed in various parts of my garage. I picked up a sheet of 12mm ply from a neighbour who was giving it away, a useful way to use the gift. I had to make some small adjustments from the plans based on a 3/4 inch board. 😎
I have put off building a scrap cart do the high prices of plywood, but this, using just 1 sheet will do nicely and not cost too much. Thank you for sharing!
You are the best!! Will be building this weekend. The only difference is I will dado all. Think it may be stronger. Greatly appreciate the plans as well. I can make most anything as long as I have plans. Many Thanks
Saw this four years ago. I built a larger cart. Now I’m finding myself wishing I had something smaller. This looks like it will work great. Thanks for sharing.
I really enjoyed watching your video and you've inspired me to make one of these myself. Since I don't have any dowels to store, I'd add a lipped shelf to store my budding collection of wood clamps. I'll send you a photo when I'm done. Hopefully, it'll look as great as yours. Thank you for sharing this tutorial.
We are just going to check the placement of the bottom by eye, as you put the tape measure down. My OCD would do the same thing. Great video sir. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you my friend. I have been wanting to build one of these but the plans I have seen either call for a cart that is too big or require tools I don't have. This cart is the perfect size for my needs and requires only basic tools. Had it built before lunch and that included a trip to buy the plywood.
Made one today. Had to convert plans to metric but afterwards cut sheet worked perfectly. Thank you so much for your work with this. Very handy addition to my space.
Great plans and idea. Love the small size. I made it this weekend. Thanks for the additional tips “measure with locked measuring tape” included along the way. Love to pick up those nuggets.
I try to use reclaimed wood as much as possible but sometimes you really need a new sheet of 4x8 plywood. This project makes complete use of that wood, no waste, and your efficient design fits the spirit of using only what's needed. I was impressed with the speed and precision of your work. I'm going to build this cart but I'll probably use pocket holes because I don't think I can accurately position screws through plywood into 3/4" edges like you can.
With so many projects this is a very well thought out one for scraps. I know as I have need to build one and you've done a very good job on showing how its done. Much appreciated.
I had an extra sheet of plywood from a project, and put it together this afternoon. Great instructions, and thanks for the plan. I should have used a better grade of plywood, but otherwise everything turned out great.
Just made this.. had to convert the measurements to metric but the way the plan is layed out also works for that. I used a standard 18mm sheet of 244cm by 122cm thats roughly the same size as the sheet mentioned in the video. Great project thanks for sharing bro!
Thanks for sharing Chris. This video finally inspired me to make one for my shop. I just uploaded the video to my channel and I made sure to give you a shoutout and linked your plans as well. I opted for the cheaper plywood myself as I put a custom finish on mine as you will see in the video. I also utilized pocket holes and wood glue. Keep up the good work - Ryan
There’s something that I need for my shop. By using just one sheet of plywood it’s economical. I’d make just one change and use pvc pipe on the side for dowel storage.
I may almost be able to make this out of scraps in my shop now... if you consider edge gluing scraps together to make the larger pieces viable. I guess that means I probably also need two of them.
Thanks for the tutorial and plans. Very beginner friendly. Unfortunately, now I want to make another one and the same plywood sheet is way more expensive now.
@@bouncer812 Yes everything is more expensive. The inflation portion appears to be due to the interests rates raised by the Fed Chairman Powell since 2018. The Fed supposedly operates independently for obvious reasons. So not directly tied to any administration. Anyway, time to search for scrap boards for a scrap cart. 🙂
I just made a version of this out of scrap plywood I had laying around. So different dimensions but it's gonna work out amazingly. I am going to doll it up and share it with you on Instagram. Thank you for sharing your craft with the world. 👍🏼
Great project, made one of those a couple weeks ago, I think some kind of handles would help to pull it more easily, watching you and enjoy from Greece, thank you for sharing this
Great video! Just want I needed. Simpler plan than others I've seen with more basic tools since I don't have all the fancy tools. I appreciate you making this video. Keep it up and I'll keep watching!
Loved it! Regarding those extra scraps, you could fashion handles out of them to mount on the sides so you have a natural place to hold when pulling it around the shop. I'm looking to do something like this myself, but I'll be using scraps of wood I'm salvaging from my job. We receive a lot of crated material and can't really repurpose the crates here, so I have a practically limitless supply of good quality plywood & OSB already cut into smallish pieces.
Really liked this project. I don’t have a big shop so the smaller size very attractive. Also really enjoyed the production of your video, was well done. Also loved that you had links to everything in the drop down. You definitely got one more subscriber in me. Thanks again
Thanks for this! It’s super handy to be able to do this with one sheet of plywood. I ended up building this out of 1/2” plywood to save money and weight, and it’s still quite solid. though I didn’t take that into account when cutting the inner dividers so they all ended up a half inch short. Oops! I was able to make it work with some scrap pieces. The other modification I made was to move the casters on the back towards the edge of the plywood. I found that when I had them located at the edge of the box part, it tended to get tippy when I stacked too much weight in sheet goods on that back lip.
Amazing!!!! I'm a beginner and the way you laid this out is awesome! Very easily to follow! Liked and subd!!!!! Looking forward to seeing your other videos. I definitely need to look into getting one of those track saws too! Thank you!!!!!
Awesome project, demonstration, and video. I'm brand new to woodworking. The first thing I've ever made was a sawhorse earlier today lol but this looks easy enough and the way you walked us through how to build it not to mention the super simple and elegant design and plans makes me confident I'll be able to build it. Thank you so much for the great work you've put into this for us. I'm definitely a new subscriber.
During my apprenticeship I had to do everything (including curves) on a worm drive and since then I've always made fun of guys using track saws, mitre saws, table saws, jig saws ect. As I was watching this I was amazed how fast you were able to lay down the track and make a cut. It's as fast if not faster then I can lay down a chalk line. Combine that with the fact that it's almost completely dustless and I think you just sold a track saw to this hater! Great vid! This would be a great addition to any shop!
I should be able to buy a single sheet of plywood and get it cut down to pieces that'll fit in the back of my car. I can do the rest of the cutting at the shop. Thanks for the plans.
I finally got around to building this project. I have a few observations. Breaking down plywood with a dull blade, poor technique, and no saw guide went poorly. Also, I used much lower grade plywood (half inch) than you. One thing I changed that worked well was attaching G to E and I and J to F so that both sides of the dividers can be screwed down. With all the hollows in my plywood, I felt better having as many mechanical fasteners as possible. Despite changes and issues, it came together quite well. Thanks for designing something for those of us without an acre of shop space.

Best UA-cam build of this type of scrap wood bin.
This is so much easier to build than the ones full of pocket holes. Thank you for a design for the rest of us.
4 years on after you dropped this and I added it to my little shop today. It's my 3rd actual build in mid life journey and the best so far. Thanks for sharing it and keeping the plans alive!
That's a nice bin, and great plans. Thank you! I also like how you are explaining the process, simple, clear, and to the point.

one of the best, most straight to the point tutorial vids ever. Thank you.
My dad and I built this today. The plans were so easy to follow and the video walkthrough covered everything and then some.
Wish I could post a pic, so much better then cardboard boxes full of wood! 😊
This is completely awesome. Thanks for sharing the plans for free and also for a simple design that does not need a hundred Kreg pocket screws.
Built this today as my first plywood workshop item. Great plans and video, thanks a lot
Just made this today. Awesome video! Thank you!
Thanks so much for producing this video and sharing the plans. Absolutely love mine. Peace brother 🇮🇹
@MakeEverything thanks for the lesson and tips...I have one for you!
I recently had to improvise to reach a hard area. Unfortunately I don't have a 90° head for my drill. I threw the driver bit into the end of a socket wrench! One hand to guide and one to turn worked really well.
Just completed this cart. Awesome design.
To help with the assembly I used pocket hole screws which made it rock solid.
Thanks for a cool design.
I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this video. Def my next project.

I did the same with the base, agree that might give more storage options

Thank you. This is awesome. Appreciate that the plans are free too.

Easy plan, minimal waste, brilliant in every way. I suspect I shall make more than one!
Just built this today. Modified it slightly. Works great!
Great project! Thanks for the free plans. Awesome!
Saw this four years ago. I built a larger cart. Now I’m finding myself wishing I had something smaller. This looks like it will work great. Thanks for sharing.
Built mine tonight! My garage already looks so much tidier! Thanks! Look forward to doing more of your builds in the future!
What a great video and thanks for sharing the plans!!

Charron Oliver awesome!
Just want to say thanks, I used your plan, very easy and work perfectly! Good job!
Great! You are so fast and efficient. You do things about 10 times faster than I would!
We are just going to check the placement of the bottom by eye, as you put the tape measure down. My OCD would do the same thing. Great video sir. Thank you for sharing.

That’s exactly what I need for my tiny 14x9 shop!!!! Thank you Sir!!!!
Great plans and idea. Love the small size. I made it this weekend. Thanks for the additional tips “measure with locked measuring tape” included along the way. Love to pick up those nuggets.
Just finished mine. Great idea! Holds more than you really think.
I LOVE it. Great job on the design and your presentation. I will be building this! And I have subscribed!

brian murray thank you!!!
Great project! Very clean and well put together. Great work! 👍👍
Thank you so much for this. I made this piece today! Love it. Greetings from Belgium
Thanks for sharing! Gives me something to build today 😀
Thanks. This will be perfect for me. Going to build it this week.
Thank you for the plans. I made it yesterday and I am very pleased with it . Keep up the good work.
Thank you! this was amazing and thanks for sharing the plan as well!
Will be making this evening. Thanks for sharing!
Thank You, I have made your scrapwoodcart. It worked out very nicely. You made my day.
Thank you for this video. I have been looking for plans for a smaller cart and this is wonderful.
Great design, great video; made mine yesterday. Thank you!
With so many projects this is a very well thought out one for scraps. I know as I have need to build one and you've done a very good job on showing how its done. Much appreciated.
I'm loving this bin. I think I just may make it for myself. Thank you!
You’re awesome man. Exactly what I was looking for and even included the plans! Liked and subd
Brilliant size.... Gunna be making this very soon... Cheers buddy boy 👍😀
I had an extra sheet of plywood from a project, and put it together this afternoon. Great instructions, and thanks for the plan. I should have used a better grade of plywood, but otherwise everything turned out great.
Finally got around to building this. Glue is drying so tomorrow I can load it up!

Chris...THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!! free plans. wow. least i could do is sub! making this over the next day or two.
Well, there's my weekend plans. Looks awesome.
Awesome use from one sheet. I have been looking for a design like this and will let you know how it turned out!
Great job! I've been wanting to make a smaller scrap cart for my garage/shop and this looks perfect!

thank you for sheering this with us I was looking some thing like this nice and moos appreciate it and subscribe
Sweet! I need to build this!
Great video! Just want I needed. Simpler plan than others I've seen with more basic tools since I don't have all the fancy tools. I appreciate you making this video. Keep it up and I'll keep watching!
Wow this would be helpful for my scrap steel in my blacksmithing shop.
Absolutely needed in my garage! Great build!
Very nicely done!

Fantastic build! Winner winner chicken dinner!
Thank you, great inspiration, on one piece of plywood.

Brilliant
I really need this, but I also need space to put it too.
What is the little clip you have on the back to store plywood? Cheers
Impressive design
