Why have you forgotten about this game, CAPCOM???? It's one of the best fighting games I've ever played! sooooo much fun!!! I wish SONY would expend their PS1 library of games on PSN. This game should be there, along with the second one!!
There are long convoluted stories why this series hasn't been revisited since the last Dreamcast entry. Some say it has to do with licensing issues related to some music/characters and others say it simply another Megaman issue, where the creative team behind the series is no longer around and just isn't a priority. It's a HUGE loss for Capcom as this would have been an AMAZING "Anime" Fighter to have capitalized on in the PS2-PS3 era when Anime got more popular in the US/West. Why Capcom focused on those foolish 3D Street Fighter games instead is beyond me...
PH CLANK I feel like this could definitely work as an anime in today’s world. Knowing its from capcom will give it views all on its own. Not to mention its about high school kids and fighting. This would definitely work because those two things alone make up a lot of current anime. At the end of the first season they could release the rival schools game and at the end of the second season they could release Project justice. If they see enough success then it may be possible for a 3rd game in the series.
Man, I remember buying this game and playing the living hell out of it with my friends, brother, & cousins during long summer nights of endless gaming at my grandmothers house. LOL! The memories.
I remember playing this along with Capcom vs Marvel 2. Got it both for the Dreamcast! Best fucking fighting games ever! My cousins and I would beat the shit out lf each other.
I used to deactivate the CPU character swapping JUST to have uninterrupted music... RS' OST is bad ass. Te way I found this game, though, was on its original arcade game. I WAS SO AMAZED BY ITS GRAPHICS and it was just next to an MK4 arcade... guess those were the best coins I have ever spended on an arcade.
I have lived in the era of good music,VHS , cassettes, physical friends and the Arcade.. the future is boring.. scrolling through Netflix for hours and when I find a movie I only watch 15 minutes and move on.. the world has so much to offer but at the same time nothing.. I get that old saying now .. " sometimes less is more"
9:50 gotta be one of the best themes in VG history to me. the dynamics and changes are just stellar also why ya made 35:33 seem soo fukked up and epic at the sametime lol
list of fighting games Capcom doesn't give a shit about: Vampire Savior/Darkstalkers Red Earth /Warzard Cyberbots Rival Schools: Project Justice Plasma Sword: Star Gladiator keep adding here, I'm sure I'm forgetting another ten thousand
what an incredible fighting game, I played the second on on the Dreamcast and thought it was really fun. Looking back at this from 2016 this game doesn't look bad at all....
que clásico juego, que viejos tiempos. es una pena que tremenda saga no haya tenido mas juegos. siempre me gusto esta saga, tenia algo que lo hacia especial.
One of my all time favorites!...This game was hard to find. They should remake this game and definitely dont take anything but add the better graphics, with more characters and moves..Yet still rival schools is just as fun as it was back in the day, untouched!
This is an amazing looking polygon game for that console gen. The models are appealing and the animation is nice. It just has so much charm overall. Hinata's lil victory dance cracks me up, lol
Very nostalgic. I still remember when every arcades in malls (Philippines) had this game. I just wish Bloody Roar was popular too. I really like King of Fighters '99, Soulcalibur, Kensei & Samurai Shodown, but those (RS & BR) 2 are the coolest fighting games to me!
TheOrangeMatty good news you should check out the physical us psx game disc version of rival schools and you can play it on ps3 because the ps3 will play most of the psx game disc's with no fucking problems.
This is the first fighting game I ever played, I recently got back into fighting games and remembered this one. Back in the day, Natsu was my favorite character.
Although Batsu and Akira were my favorites from the 1st game, I really liked Ran with her super silly picture taking powers. Incho/chairperson was also 1 of my favorites. I also really liked when you and the other player landed team-ups on each other at the same time and the 3rd teammates wld have 2 do a sudden death fight to decide which team-up tech would actually be applied. Talk about nail-biting tension.
Some of the game play mechanics were borrowed and used for X-men vs Street fighter on the PS1 port. Since it lacked the Tag-team game play it played more like Rival School in 2D.
It's funny that this game brings back memories, and I don't ever remember playing it. Did play a ton of other 3D fighters on the PS1 and Saturn though.
I'm not stereotyping but the only guy i knew who had this was my good Asian mate, he introduced me to this on his 'chipped' PSX he had so many games but this one i smashed for so long *RIP my mate :'(*
This game was so cool,it had simple button to press to perform a combo or special moves, remember to playing this with my cousin and uncle around 2007 - 2008 and I'm playing it now with my epsxe emulator I finished it now though, unlike back in the day 😆
I've played this game with my brother 13 years ago when we still have the Playstation 1. I didn't know its got the physics of tekken 1 when we played it.
One of the most underrated fighting games ever
I'm pretty sure every one knows this game in Asia. This game sure was fun, but broken in a lot of way.
Rui Prasatya Why this game is so good
yup it is truly a gem
Yess.
Fuck I had this game before tekken. Wtf happen to it?!!
i remember playing this game with my cousins in 1999 miss this good old days
me too with my cousins - cool boarders, king of fighters, fatal fury's wild ambition,.....🥰
An absolute classic. Please re-release this game, the double disc PS1 version is so expensive to buy.
Iso
Jailbreak your ps3
If they confirm a Rerelease? , it would come out on ps plus
Why have you forgotten about this game, CAPCOM???? It's one of the best fighting games I've ever played! sooooo much fun!!! I wish SONY would expend their PS1 library of games on PSN. This game should be there, along with the second one!!
Amen bro
It's on PSN. JP only though :(

Strangely enough, I'm getting back into the series. Hopefully one day, Rival Schools will see the light of day in the future...
PH CLANK

Dao Yang project justice?
Oh god, I miss my childhood so much. :/
Most of us do ;)
This is my childhood
This is the underrated 1990s fighting game.
I used to deactivate the CPU character swapping JUST to have uninterrupted music... RS' OST is bad ass.
Te way I found this game, though, was on its original arcade game. I WAS SO AMAZED BY ITS GRAPHICS
and it was just next to an MK4 arcade... guess those were the best coins I have ever spended on an arcade.
Ahhhh the memories please reboot this game
Dang, this music rules. I haven't ever played this game before, but I always wanted to. Those infinite backrounds, though, haven't aged well at all...
this must be brought back
yo nostalgia called
IT WANTS ME BACK
man this brings back memories! I used to play this almost every day with my friends when I was a kid. Now I kinda want to play it again lol
is it just me or is this game really more exciting than street fighter?
Yess it is, this game makes street fight look boring
"EXCITING!" - Tiffany
it's so much better, the soundtrack alone beats most other fighting games.
Rival schools, street fighter ex plus alpha, and tech romancer, are much better than the capcom street fighter games.
Both this and darkstalkers where better canditates to be capcom main fighting game series but they never got the same popularity as street fighter
" sometimes less is more"
Hey there! I think I'm in the same path than you. You nailed it with "physical firends" by the way...
The 2nd disc and all the extra features were epic.
I wouldn't mind enrolling in any of these schools actually
mee hoy minoy
I wanna be in akira's school and be friends with hinata and sakura
game was way ahead of its time. still one of my favorites.
come on! make a new school rivals!
DrJangoR9 Kazama hopefully they make a new one
@@Gr_cristian069 when
At least Akira's in SFV!
Damn this game is classic. I'd play this with my brother for hours.
Capcom in the 90s was like "ok lets make some cool super unique fighting games and never do anything with them again"
9:50 gotta be one of the best themes in VG history to me. the dynamics and changes are just stellar
also why ya made 35:33 seem soo fukked up and epic at the sametime lol
list of fighting games Capcom doesn't give a shit about:
Vampire Savior/Darkstalkers
Red Earth /Warzard
Cyberbots
Rival Schools: Project Justice
Plasma Sword: Star Gladiator
keep adding here, I'm sure I'm forgetting another ten thousand
Power Stone. Though considering how far Capcom has fallen, it’s probably for the best that they don’t put these games out
Pocket fighter
Megaman legends
Misadventures of tron bonne
what an incredible fighting game, I played the second on on the Dreamcast and thought it was really fun. Looking back at this from 2016 this game doesn't look bad at all....
funh3ll project justice
que clásico juego, que viejos tiempos. es una pena que tremenda saga no haya tenido mas juegos. siempre me gusto esta saga, tenia algo que lo hacia especial.
I was so obsessed with the intro sequence of this game!!
14:16 That was a good cinematic style finish 👍
this was my favorite game back in the day's I am a Beast
One of my all time favorites!...This game was hard to find. They should remake this game and definitely dont take anything but add the better graphics, with more characters and moves..Yet still rival schools is just as fun as it was back in the day, untouched!
Yes keep everything the same except make it a higher frame rate and upscale the graphics keep the engine the same and make rival school 3
I’ve never heard of this game till recently. Looks really fun.
This game was ahead of its time
I remember the game store that was across the street from my house had an arcade cabinet of this, good times
Ps1 times. 1998 i was 8 years old and happy. Good times so simple...
I loved the intro and the ending! Too bad it was never was an anime series.
5:08 - Batsu & Hinata: SEKIHA LOVE LOVE TENKYOKEN!!!
I wish I knew more bout this when I was young, especially how this is a capcom game
I like how every HS teenager is in great shape and expert fighters. (yes I know it's a game, it's just a joke)
the graphics were so awesome
This is an amazing looking polygon game for that console gen. The models are appealing and the animation is nice. It just has so much charm overall.
Hinata's lil victory dance cracks me up, lol
Very nostalgic. I still remember when every arcades in malls (Philippines) had this game. I just wish Bloody Roar was popular too. I really like King of Fighters '99, Soulcalibur, Kensei & Samurai Shodown, but those (RS & BR) 2 are the coolest fighting games to me!
They must remake this game or at least put it on PSN
Just in case you didn't know it is on PSN but unfortunately only in Japan :(
I think this series was massively popular in Japan but not in North America.
TheOrangeMatty good news you should check out the physical us psx game disc version of rival schools and you can play it on ps3 because the ps3 will play most of the psx game disc's with no fucking problems.
put it on steam
This and Project Justice.
This game was the shit back in the early 2000's.
Nostalgia right there...
When the voice over starts with "19XX," you know it's about to go down.
I did not realize how story driven this game was, rare for a fighting game from the 90s. Great game!
Capcom needs to bring this back for ps4
What an amazing soundtrack! "C'mon baby"!
Wow, you defeated Raizo on the supposedly impossible fight! Impressive!
The good old days of solving a kidnapping crime by serial assaults on school grounds
This game and Tech Romancer, two of capcom’s most underrated fighting games.
one of the best games in my life..i will never forget this game
Amazing game, I used to play this with my buddies after school at the local laundrymat that had arcades. Damn I miss it!
imma be honest i only know this because of tatsunoko vs capcom.
45:19 Best video game ending cinematic ever. Sweet song too.
i played on PS1 this more than the other Street Fighter, this game gives you the feeling of fighting, is a pleasure for the fingers to play!
Just picked up the Japanese version of this one at long last, was long overdue for my collection. Played this at a friends house, always enjoyed it.
I remember the combination of kyoko and tiffany the most difficult to beat.
around the 27:00 mark, i was hoping you'd pick sakura and shoma. two of my three favorites♥
One of the best games when i was a child! These memories
I still have this game . PS1
This was one of my favourite games on the PSX
Some of the game play mechanics were borrowed and used for X-men vs Street fighter on the PS1 port. Since it lacked the Tag-team game play it played more like Rival School in 2D.
I used to play this in black and white (PAL/NTSC problems haha) on our chipped Playstation one with my little brother. Rest in peace bro'!
I loved to play with Tiffany & Natsu so much. Loved all the volleyballs hitting the face from the opponents. :D
Beautiful, simply beautiful! :)
It's funny that this game brings back memories, and I don't ever remember playing it. Did play a ton of other 3D fighters on the PS1 and Saturn though.
I'm not stereotyping but the only guy i knew who had this was my good Asian mate, he introduced me to this on his 'chipped' PSX he had so many games but this one i smashed for so long
*RIP my mate :'(*
ScHlAuChi always doing the gold work of the channel
Was living in the Philippines and travelled to Hong Kong to get my first PSX, this was my first game
That intro video was a huge part of my childhood changing me into a weeb I love it
this game is sooo classic! the tournaments held in my house my god! if only they'd at least make a hd remake
Memories... :')
I remember playing this game with the life gauge set to the biggest setting just so the matches can last longer.
Oh this takes me back. Glad I still have my PS3, in hopes that I can get this game on it.
This game is an absolute masterpiece.
30:42 Absolutely awesome song, omg how I love this! 😢❤
I loved the intro!
This game had some of the most responsive controls. I wish I still had it
I used to play this game on ps1 when I was like 6 years old, so nostalgic and more when I remember that my grandpa gave me the ps1
Hermoso juego... lo jugaba tanto en arcade como en mi casa toda la noche
This game was so cool,it had simple button to press to perform a combo or special moves, remember to playing this with my cousin and uncle around 2007 - 2008 and I'm playing it now with my epsxe emulator I finished it now though, unlike back in the day 😆
My absolute favorite fighting game ever made.

People have been asking for re make for ages, it is FUN !! :) GREAT
one of my favoriite game on ps1
I've played this game with my brother 13 years ago when we still have the Playstation 1. I didn't know its got the physics of tekken 1 when we played it.
If they do a remake of this game,is gonna be the coolest one of all!
