    That was a bit scary lol it was like prepping for a body dismemberment.... 😂😂😂 Nice job on the build! Something I'd like to do when I get some time in the future!

    Ha your production value keeps getting better and better, and to think that you record with a phone, mind blown. So is this what you're going to put into the crx you eventually get? You gotta come down to Arizona and find you a nice rust free Honda.

      Thank you bro, yes this is going into a crx and I'm with you on that. When I'm ready to buy a crx it won't be from Chicago. I'll be looking for a crx from Arizona/Texas 👍just have to figure out how I'm going to do that because I need to buy one that will be able to make the trip back home

    U should apply a light coat of oil on the back side of the bearings so they slide in easier without gouging the backside of the bearings, your information was completely incorrect about the back of the bearings having to be dry

    Are the bearings oem or aftermarket currently building a k20a2 and can’t decide between oem or aftermarket bearings

      I'm using aftermarket bearings that my machine shop picked out for me

      It's been a while but I have the main parts to start assembly

    Is it cheaper to just buy an assembled short block rather than rebuilding it?

    • @themechanic6117
      @themechanic6117  6 років тому

      Depends what you mean, assembled as in stock parts or built with aftermarket parts?

      The mech a nic aftermarket. I see jbr, prayoonto going around for 2500

      Buying the block off Craigslist, machine work, pistons, rods,bearings ... I'm in about $1500 . Up side to buying it is you know I'll be right and don't have to worry if you did something wrong.id rather do it myself.

      The mech a nic i see a 1k difference which you can invest on the head...

    You measured clearances with plasti gauge with bearings installed. How to come up which bearings (std, hx or oversized) to buy before installing?

    • @themechanic6117
      @themechanic6117  3 роки тому

      First of all my machine shop ordered std bearing and measured everything before I did anything. When I took the engine apart everything looked perfect, no abnormal or uneven wear so there's no reason why it would have needed oversized bearings . Hope that makes sense

    I thought you supposed to loosen the crank girdle in reverse order (outside in) and not in the torque sequence

    Crank shaft bearings without grease?

    • @themechanic6117
      @themechanic6117  3 роки тому

      Bearings go in dry. Assembly lube goes on between the bearing and crankshaft

    I was ducking behind a pillow at the beginning. Very scary!!! 19 views... One comment. Why are people afraid to leave a comment? Weird.

      All videos are like that. I appreciate comments, even the ones that say cool video since I spent a lot of timing making it 😂👍 the intro was a little late for Halloween but better late than never lol
