    Thanks, mate, it was the second tip for me. I was arching for my back when pulling, and that’s when I felt the pain.

    Oh mate, this is changing my life. I’ve had lower back pain for years due to trying to catch a running child and have recently started at the gym for the first time in my life (35yo). This exercise always left me undoing the good stuff I’d done with deadlifts and the like, which weirdly don’t hurt.
    I’d been really swinging into the motion and extending both forward and back, thinking that I would get more from treating it like rowing a boat for Oxford or something!

    Just found your channel - had fusion surgery 2 years ago in the same place you had your rupture. I have been working out making incredible gains, but the seated row was killing me. I think I have been doing everything wrong - cannot wait to drop the weight and try again, because I love this exercise! Thank you for the tips!

    "Not respecting the shearing effect" is exactly what I did last week and felt a pain in my back. Thanks to this video I will not be doing that this week.

    Would standing rows be easier on your lower back(L4-S1 disc bulge), since your also using your legs?

    Do you feel doing this on the floor opposed to on a raised bench in the gym helps or makes a difference? I like what your putting out very valuable stuff sir

      I think with tight hips being up off the ground would be better. It also will help with the angle at the low back when sitting. Even with my injury I can do both without an issue.

    How do you brace from the abs and not the back? When I brace I am firing up all of my core muscles

      It’s more of a mental shift. Your looking to prevent over contraction so you won’t be able to just shut it off completely.

    Hi. Literally just felt a sharp pain in spine doing seated row because I rounded my back too much. What should I immediately do now to treat my back?

    What about the chest supported row? What's your opinion on whereabouts the chest support should go on a seated row

    • @Fitness4BackPain
      @Fitness4BackPain  2 роки тому +1

      Whatever feels good nothing to technically with where your chest should be.

      I personally found the chest supported row to be a safer option. Having the support in front of me helps me to better brace and avoid excessive swing of the weight during the exercise.
