Not a fan of Tutberidze, just saying: she was not angry, she was surprised. The goal of that particular part of competition was to jump a sequence of 5 jumps. And it wasn't that Akatieva wasn't able to jump them, she just miscounted them, thinking she performed all 5 required. So, it was sort of a frustration with such silly mistake.

Paola does this on purpose, not just on this video. For those following and actually watching all Russian competitions, we know what we saw and we also know things here are being put out of context. Paulo just hates Russians and Russian FS. If you doubt just watch her previous videos and listen how she refers to the Russian GP calling it a "fake" competition, when the poor skaters had no other choice. Too much xenophobia in this channel. But the cherry on top is making a video saying you weren't going to talk about Russians and then half the video is about them, not to mention she talks so much about something she despises. What a shame.

@@TheEmmaSmith this is a very much opinion-based channel - not necessarily supposed to be an objective ice skating gossip channel. However, i feel as though she just dislikes Tuberitze. She clearly empathises with and appreciates the tuberitze girls who have so much life, love, personality, strength and talent. She merely does not agree with the ethics (or lack thereof) with Tuberitze’s coaching. Nobody is particularly happy with Russia and the war right now; but obviously we dont dislike the Russian citizens, who have nothing to do with the war.

@@TheEmmaSmithI think the russian gp series is a fake competition. It has no effect to anything isu related. Everything would be the same without it. And if they wanted to compete they should not have started a war. (I know of course that not the skaters started it. But I'm pretty sure that the people who started it were aware, that this probably means that russian athletes will get banned.) I watched the competition live and I was so sad for Sophia A. when she did only 4 jumps instead of 5. That part of the competition the skaters were allowed to jump UP TO 5 times for maximum amount of points and no one Knows why Sophia only did 4 but the commentators said that it's hard to keep track of how many jumps you do when you are actually doing them. So afterwards the fans started counting the jumps for their favorite skater, particularly Sophia A. She probably felt rather embarrassed and my heart goes out to her.

@@fotomagrol Don't talk about things if you know nothing about them. At least educate yourself first. Japanese federation is full of internal politics. Yuzuru has always been mistreated by the federation because he didn't join any party, because he doesn't wanna play political games he just wanted to skate. He got treated like shit by Daisuke camp when he started as senior. Japan has severe regional discrimination. In figure skating, infrastructure is formed mainly in Nagoya and Osaka, which are wealthy regions, and it pushes people from those regions. Yuzuru coming from sendai had noone beside him. Yuzuru has made himself with his sheer talent and determination. His support is the Japanese general public, not the federation. Yuzuru has been always shunned by the federation unless they needed him for his money and prestige. He never got the support from them that other skaters got because of his background and lack of political connections. Not even after bringing them 2 gold medals. And that's just from his own federation, let's not even get into ISU politics.
As for your figure skating community, I would rather watch Yuzuru Hanyu skate and share his love and vision for figure skating instead of watching corrupt ISU games with bought-in judges where passport matters more than skating skills. Like it or not Yuzuru Hanyu brought and introduced millions of people into the sport. Inspired thousands of athletes. He made figure skating more mainstream and shared the sport with a whole range of audience. People fell in love with the sport through him. Me including one of them. Meanwhile ISU turned that sport into a joke. I am glad Yuzuru left so I don't have to suffer through those competitions anymore. I am still watching some of the skaters I like if they compete. But I am ready to log out of the isu sport when they do. Cause this sport is a joke now. I actually feel bad for the new generation of skaters. I hope they find the real passion and beauty of skating instead of being puppets for their feds. It was heartbreaking to see Alyssa retire and lose her spark and love for the sport. If the sport doesn't reform itself, the same thing is gonna happen to many other young skaters. Especially if they are from the two big federations.

Paola as usually cant get her facts right. Alisa cant be "next shiny thing" right now, because she is ineligible for next Olympic. And guess what - Sofia is eligible, so no - TeamTut will not put Alisa over Akatieva.
And no - they were not mad at Akatieva for no reason. They were mad, because at this moment it was possible that this mistake would cost team gold. Of course later it become clear that in reality fall from Alisa would cost them gold (she made first 5-jumps combo right and then fall on opening quad at second attempt)
Akatieva btw do 5-jumps combo easily at her second attempt.
Also it is funny how Paola choose to not speak about this event. I mean i understand her, after all her bragging in previous videos about "Kami is done" looking at her easily jumping lots of quads (some of which were in 5-jump combo in warm-up) and winning that event can be hard.

sadly russia is turning an artistic sport into pure athletics at the expense of the young women. this event proves it. also, akatieva is on the outs with tutberidze NOT because of mistakes but because she is bettering their sacred cow valieva who is being propped up and rehabilitated as some kind of national hero (though i believe she shouldn't be held responsible, and her coaching team will get away with murder). the event where she mysteriously lost points so valieva would win is so russia. i wish you would cover daria usacheva more including her absence from the russian gp though she was scheduled twice.

I'm russian and you are right, everybody got used to her behavior. But also I should note that in Russia nearly no one believe that a child could achieve something without a coach or parents who is forcing him. Same in sport, same in school. Generally no one believes in "soft power". So humiliation is a norm, mocking and bullying is OK, they believe so. Russians don't blame Tutberidze just because she's like themselves. They can't see why this behavior is bad, like they treat their own children almost the same way. Behavior in public is essential actually. It reveals everything with years. You shouldn't be supportive every time, but she is like monster to me almost EVERY time in public since like 2018.
Have you seen some interviews of her ex-students? Tutberidze is just another cruel coach ( like American one in sport gymnastics, don't remember his name). If she was a male, she'd be ruined already. The only difference is that she's not s*xually interested in her students. Everything else is there

@@emmanuilaklein1649 tbh i think that in sport of big achievements there’s no place for soft power at all.. The professional sport is always about trauma, injury, overcoming etc etc., and it’s in general not healthy at all, nor physically nor mentally. So Eteri being the ‘’’cruel’’’ coach is what it takes to have those amazing results which her sportsmen have.. But ofc, professional sports and especially figure skating is kinda harsh in general because the kids are starting out at the age when they don’t even know what color of their dress they want to wear, not to speak about dedicating their whole lives to this traumatic path
