I have fitted one of these to my Hilux and use it for towing I have an auto oil temp gauge fitted and the drop in temperature when locked up is phenomenal More control of vehicle as well I can’t recommend enough Thanks Rocket Rod!!!
Why doesn't the converter lock more frequently from factory when towing? It sure knows that something is back there. What are the downsides? Does a lock-up kit prevent the ute from shifting down at every small incline? I think that my hilux (2021, 2.8 auto) changes gears a lot when I know that the engine got loads of torque from 1600 rpm. It especially wants to do this when the cruise control is on.
Hey mate, I have a 2018 Prado that I dont use for towing and i dont care about fuel efficiency enough to spend that kind of coin, does it have any other benefits?
When you do that with all autos yes it will change down a gear, but the torque convertor will be slipping all the way down, the lock-up kit keeps the convertor locked up so you get a true 100% engine brake just like a manual would do.

Would be great to see one being used doing low range work in the VHC

Does it help with off road hill decents?
Yes it does, especially when paired with the Nomad Valve Body giving lock up in 1st gear
Am I missing something. I can drop down a gear in my MR Triton Auto in manual mode and do the same thing. Why do you need the lock up kit?

Excuse moi sir I have a noob question : does it lock when you push the button no matter what gear is in?
Yes correct
What lockup kit is that.? Do you have one that will work with a 2.8L 6 speed 150 Prado?
We have the new Nomad Lock-Up ready for the Prado 150 6 speed but jst need to complete the programing. Should be ready by late March.
