This video is top notch. I love the comparisons in the same setting with the same light. Then to show a before and after when the updates. Definitely some planning with this that a lot of UA-camrs seem to miss.
The stabilization on the ace pro 2 is simply stunning! The footage is so smooth, it feels like you're shooting on pro equipment, not a portable device! Hardly any cropping at all - with this quality, I don’t even think about needing a gimbal!!! I recommend to buy!
Not really perfect, an optic zoom would make it perfect. It's quite there, but with a fixed lens you are limited to certain shots. A 15-45mm equivalent or a 10x zoom would make it perfect, even in a slighty bigger form factor that would also allow a bigger screen.

Trying to decide which of the new action cameras will replace my GoPro 10 for family travel and adventure vlogging. I’m leaning towards the GP13 because I’m more familiar with the tech, but I’m also looking forward to learning more about the Ace Pro 2 before making up my mind.
Awesome video, Peter! You’ve quickly become my go-to gear reviewer. Now that the flattery’s out of the way, let’s dive in. I was really hoping for a upgrade to the flip-screen and get a fully articulated 360-degree screen, make the "360 offical". The lack of 10-bit support feels a bit underwhelming, it’s 2024, after all! I’d also take 4K at 60fps over 8K at 30fps any day. Most of us stick to 4K, and 8K just eats up too much storage without a noticeable leap in quality, plus it seems like the 8K has a bit of a color balance issue. I think I’ll wait for next year’s model, but your detailed reviews definitely make the decision easier!

On ya bike mate! Even though it’s heavier than some other units, its stability and accessories (wind guard, lens guard) make it even more reliable and durable! I’d trust something that can take a hit more than a pig with lipstick.

Definitely not upgrading but I really do like my ace pro. As someone that has one for a year. GET THE TWO BATTERY PACK, ONE....depending on your needs, is not easy to work with
Long time embargo on this one 😅 did you also record a side to side with the DJI? My opinion is that the skin tones on the “pure video” indoor shots are not good. 8 bit is off course not much to work with also if you want to grade. Sunny shots look good though.

Would you go Insta 360 4k or the ace pro 2? I’m done with Glitchy GoPros. I rarely use POV cams but can see the creative possibilities with the 360 4k in post
Neither. DJI Action 5. You'll also have a better chance of getting a camera with no faults and better customer service if there are any issues. I lost trust in Insta360 a long time ago. Too many shady business tactics.
@@NeilEvery interesting. You’re the very first negative association I’ve heard of regarding Insta. DJI is the same level as GoPro. Insta is waaaaay ahead. I’m only interested in the post production capabilities Insta has with its 360 models. The rest are just your average POV cams. Which I personally use very little.

In terms of picture quality, and there comes a point where this is subjective, the Action 5 is a better purchase than GoPro or Insta. As for negative association with Insta, check out what iphonedoo and many other big name creators have had to say about Insta demanding full creative control/censoring of their content to remove anything remotely negative. Creators that review products must be authentic or they lose trust. Insta forcing creators to be shills for their brand is bad for everyone.
The ace pro 2 stabilization is simply excellent. I believe it’s thanks to the AI chip they have and their proprietary algorithm. You honestly can’t even tell it's handheld, and there’s almost no cropping. If I buy it, I don’t even think I’ll need a gyrostabilizer at all!
was considering DJI but knowing they did release a camera that overheats without proper testing made me doubt their commitment to action camera series. (they have a roaring success with drones)
2:59 the leaves are like sent from above with shining effect on the edges.. I guess this is the problem of the processor used even dji have the same problem. Or is it UA-cam can't compensate this kind of videos taken from this cameras. even the clouds looks the same artifacts with dji.
this camera just need a good color science . at this time gopro has a better color science and 10 bits color depth. if ibemove that the ace pro 2 seems better gopro camera
Good video. You have the same audio curse I have. I make a video and the kids voice show up in the background. :-) Not a criticism. It's a pool so good luck with no background voices..
*The 8K resolution pure video (Rec 709 ?) settings by far look the best, however, the Ace Pro 2 isn't yielding very "Pro" results from what I can see in your post. This camera has a very "Generic" digital video camera, oversharpened look to its footage. The colours look "Artificial," and the blacks look a little crushed to me (??). This could be good Ol' 4:2:0 8 Bit UA-cam doing this to your footage. I have never been satisfied by how UA-cam naturally desaturates source colour levels. P.S. 8 Bit camera ! Oh that's an instant deal breaker for Me ! No thanks ! An 8 Bit camera in 2024 ? Really Ace Pro ? While DJI's version 4 and now 5 are 10 bit colour science cameras ? So are GoPro's ! Ridiculous ! NO thanks ! I'll pass !*

The FOV feels really natural, and the video effects are pretty realistic. The quality of the video once exported is top notch too!

No. It has 8-bit and "new" I-Log as color profile for better re-editing.
They will tell you that а "real Pro" doesn't need 10-bit! 😉

Its mainly due to HDR. The camera captures one over exposed, and one underexposed frame and blends them. I’m not a huge fan if HDR in general.
The colors is weird, Ace Pro 1 from other reviewers looks nice.

Looks like action camera footage - don't want to be to negative, but the phone footage looked nicer.
It’s an action camera, fixed focus, wide angle lens. But I agree, the phone looks better and has a nice depth to it! Incredible how far they’ve come
