Oh be still my heart! To watch the band coming down the hill & listening to ROCKY TOP. There's nothing like being there & taking it all in! It really pumps you up. Hopefully in the near future our team will get back on the right track. Love The Pride of the Southland band and love my VOLS❤
I ain't even going to lie there was more energy and excitement in this 8 minute and 31 second video than, probably the entire 2 hour and 30 plus minute game... No one, I mean no one!! Does it better than my beloved USC Trojan marching band lol,. Then again...
It just doesns't get ANY SWEETER!!! Brings a smile to my face and a tear in my eye all at the same time!!! Husband gratuated in 1973 and our son in 2006.....Husband will pay for grandchildrens tuition as long as they go to UT!! Oh, and we're born, raise and live currently in Pennsylvania!!! But our blood runs Orange!!
I'm an Oklahoma alum, and I've got to say there's no other school, athletic program, or band (other than OU's) that I respect quite like Tennessee... and of course the real UT is in Knoxville! Go Sooners and Vols!

I`m a proud parent of a member of The Marching Illini. And after watching this how any fan or parent of a member of the U of T marching band can keep it together I don`t know. (I had tears in my eyes.) Outstanding!! I love "Rocky Top".

oh my gosh, i used to live in TN, and my son just graduated there in May 2010. These people go crazy over this college. i came from KY in 83, and we sure didn't go crazy over UK, like they do here, people even paint their cars and houses orange and white, lol.

Im a Clemson fan and happen to play the sousa in the band. However, i was born and raised in Tennessee =). still have some rocky top in me, I hope Tennessee the best and their band the best. Though it looks like the band is still doing great haha
My high school gets to march with the UT band and perform our halftime show at the UT-Buffalo game on October 1st. you all should come out to support us. this is the first time in 60 years that a high school has done this, and the last high school was my high school. you need to look up the Dobyns Bennett Marching Band

Come on now people. I'm an unabashed Vol fan and loved watching this video; however, I have been fortunate enough to see UT games at UF, Auburn, UGA and Alabama and the atmosphere there is just as electric at you see in this video. There is nothing that will ever compare to the excitement, energy and emotion of an SEC football game. Go Vols!

Once several years ago, I had the good fortune to escort one of my granddaughters to an invitation from the music department to attend a game. We were seated in the band section before they "marched" down the hill. As we sat there we could hear the band and crowd up at the other end of the stadium. My granddaughter look around and ask where are the fans? (she expected to see 90+ thousand people) I told her to wait. The band has not started inside yet. I knew from past trips the fans don't really come until after the band finishes and starts to inter the "bowl". Sure enough, by the time the band was on the way to their pregame locations, the seats were starting to fill with the 90+ thousand she was expecting. Go Vols!!
although I am an LSU tiger, this pre-game routine is very good... I was in Golden Band from Tigerland and we did/do something similar to this as we run down our 'hill' in baton rouge, LA

The Tennessee band has always been classy. I remember coming up to Knoxville when Ole Miss would play the Vols, and the Vols would play Forward Rebels during their pregame. Very classy. Although we won in 09, it will be interesting to see how Ole Miss does against the Vols this year.
As an Oregon fan, I traveled to Knowxville for this years game. What I saw was a great Oregon team, but I also saw a young Tennessee team with enormous potential. Next year, or maybe in two, the Vols are gonna be back near the top of the SEC again. Thanks for the hospitality, Vol's fans, An believe me, as great as the salute is on UA-cam, it's even better in person. Hope you guys can come to Eugene soon so we can return the favor.

Altho I am an LSU fan, this is one of the best pregames in college football. I agree with the earlier post in that THIS is part of what makes college football great!

@seamus1956 I'm a huge UT fan and I was at the Oregon game too. I was pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of the Oregon fans I met because in SEC country we normally dont like anyone other than fellow UT fans haha. Its cool to hear opposing fans who enjoy our pregame traditions as much as we do. And Ive heard Autzen stadium can get a bit loud as well itd be awesome to watch a game there.
Early September is always an exciting time in Knoxville, because every true blue Vol fan is convinced they're going to win a national championship. By mid-September, they're just waiting for November, so they can take out their frustrations on Kentucky and Vanderbilt.
Still can't believe the Tennessee band has yet to be awarded the "prestigious" Sudler Trophy. They are better than some of the bands that have gotten it, including several bands from the SEC.
I'm a Gator fan to the end, but I must admit that Rocky Top is prob my favorite fight song. And this video shows why the college atmosphere will always be better than the pros

i love how right before fight vols fight you hear the whole band yell MARK TIME!! One of my favorite parts is the first rocky top after salute to the hill is finished.
I am a live and die UGA fan, alumnus, and proud supporter, but I have to say that UT has it going on with this fight song, Ole Smoky, and the UT marching band. I love the old southern tradition this brings out when I hear it. Except for when they play Georgia, I am always pulling for the VOLS.
Thanks for this video, I enjoyed it. I am transferring to UT next year and cannot wait. I have talked to the band director and I am going to be marching the the "Pride of the Southland Band" as a tuba player. I am so excited to be a part of this band. I am so ready for school to start next year!

Our society has created the illusion that if you don't agree with stupidity you automatically hate something. I am for the average UT fan, the nucleus of the program. An average fan from Newport can't afford to go to a $500 dollar game for a family of four. $4 gas, $4 cokes, $4 hotdogs so a few people can sit in the skyboxes or TN Terrace. Almost all UT games are Televised and pay per view is only $30 for as many people that you can get in your living room. I started watching games from the Hill
