Thank you I just came across this tutorial and I have a passion for hair. I moved to NC which is so different than what I was used to. I have an interview for being an assistant and front desk Tuesday. I love to learn and want to perfect my skills even though I’ve been in the business for 7 years but extremely part time. This made me feel more confident I’m doing the right thing. Thank you
Thank you so much for your sweet comment! I'm so glad to hear you are feeling more confident and ready to get that job. Good luck, I'm sure you'll do great!
@@savannahsye4204 Do you have any specific questions I can help you answer? The key with any interview is be genuine, confident and personable. No stylist should expect you to know everything about hair. A stylist wants an assistant who is not only dependable and trustworthy but is personable. It's very important that you project these qualities during your interview. Everything hair related your stylist can teach you along the way. The stuff that can't be taught is your work ethic, character and personality.

Thank you for sharing. I am in beauty school and I go on the floor next week and I just was offered to assist at a nice salon and I am nervous amd excited and was wondering if maybe I am unqualified to start assisting but after watching this I realize its a continuation of my education and something I should take advantage of now. I subscribed to your channel and I look forward to learning more from you!
I'm so glad to hear this video gave you some clarity. Assisting is paramount to becoming a successful career hairstylist. Learn absolutely everything you can from the experience! Don't be afraid to ask your stylist questions along the way. You are not expected to know everything right out of beauty school. Questions reinforce that your engaged with the training and give your stylist encouragement to teach you more!
Haha this is a great question! In order to survive financially while assisting, I was living with my parents with no expenses for the better part of two years. It wasn't glamorous, but it allowed me to live comfortably and relatively stress free while training. In order to take assisting seriously and commit to 18-24 months on a relatively lower income, you absolutely have to figure out your financial situation ahead of time. Whatever that means for you, make sure you spend less than you make. It's really that simple. I 100% believe assisting is the best foundation for a successful hairstyling career. Don't skip this important part of your journey to becoming a wealthy hairstylist.
