- Thousands of people paid their last respects on Thursday to Ratan Tata - one of India's most influential business leaders - in the country's financial capital ahead of a state funeral later in the day. The veteran industrialist, former chairman of Tata Group, a $100 billion conglomerate, died at a Mumbai hospital on Wednesday night at the age of 86.

His ancestors were originally from Iran. I am of Persian heritage too. He is an inspiration to many. I am glad his forefathers could move away from this country and settle in India pre independence. Most of us Iranian identity as Zorastrian & not muslim. ❤
Iran could have become a superpower if it had preserved its original identity instead of adopting the path of Islam. The Parsi community in India stands as evidence of that belief.
Unfortunately Iran being Iran kicked out the Zorastrians who escaped persecution. India has been their homeland for hundreds of years. Doubt he ever set foot in Iran during his lifetime.
