Russia is not just trying to reap short term deprival of Europe from its resource sources, but long term. This means that, Africa can get a better deal from Russia than from the west. The exploitation becomes cooperation when the tilt becomes marginal. So, Russia is just getting enormous benefits by denying Europe african resources while gaining more of what it already has (which is secondary).
