That line was so good! But actually the person speaking stated it incorrectly. She made history as the first black woman to win two Oscars.
It’s actually really disheartening to hear that he had Quan didn’t have anything lined up afterwards and that they were still looking for something for him because it’s kind of scary. You can be on top one year and then afterwards be trying to scramble for parts, but even Bette Midler said that’s how it was for her in an interview with Oprah and she’s a legend, so I just hope I’ll be seeing his face a lot more
I cried like a baby when Ke Huy Quan and Brendan Fraser won. Well deserved.
I don't think there's been a more undeserved oscar than Jamie Lee Curtis. If they wanted to give her a lifetime achievement oscar, they literally have the option to do that.
I think it was a whole "JLC has done so much stuff that she deserves an award at some time. She was really good though not the best this year but she's getting old and we don't know how many more movies she's going to do and let's be honest, is any movie she's going to do in the future going to match up to this one? I feel bad for the competition but the competition is young except for Angela and I'm a lot more confident Angela or one of the young 'uns are going to kill it in roles in future movies that are going to be Oscar nominated so maybe we should just give it to JLC this time."
It was like the Leonardo Di Caprio Oscar, it was a lifetime achievement.
Jamie Lee Curtis shouldn't have won the Oscar, but that doesn't mean Angela Bassett was snubbed. Kerry Condon and Shephanie Shu give the two best supporting actress roles of the year imo

What the hell is with Hollywood “not having any parts” for Ken Huy Quan?? The man oozes charisma and just won an Oscar. Shoutout to the Daniel’s for giving him the Chace he deserved and not having that bs “gotta find the right part for you even though we miscast parts all the time for the sake of having big names in our movies” mentality that it seems all of Hollywood has.

If that were true, then Japanese anime such as Masaaki Yuasa’s 2022 offering _Inu-oh_ wouldn’t’ve been left out of Best Animated Feature. :(

of course they would contribute to western animation! if the Oscars took anime into earnest consideration Western anime wouldnt stand a chance!
I'm not sure all quiet on the western front deserved all those awards but they definitely deserved best score. I feel like that movie wouldn't be half as terrifying if not for the music.
As excited as I was that the Everything Everywhere All at Once folks won, it was a bit weird that Jamie Lee Curtis won over Angela

I am happy that GDT Pinocchio, Brendan Fraser and EEAAO won big.
I am also happy to see All Quiet On The Western Front winning three more awards than just International Film, even though they didn’t win Best Adapted Screenplay.

I wanted Banshees to win Best Picture and Original Screenplay and I wanted Steven to win Director. I'm still glad Ke went home with Supporting Actor. So well deserved. Probably one of the best performances of the century so far.
Angela Bassett didn't win, but she Did The Thing, and that's something.
The reason Del Toro was already there was that he was super tired from campaigning his movie to win the Oscar he was jetlagged. So they had him backstage to go home sooner.

The fact that Jamie Lee Curtis beat Stephanie Hsu will always demonstrate that her win is a career achievement award.
Also, Dolly De Leon _(Triangle of Sadness)_ deserved to be in Best Supporting Actress. Still can't stand all the "Asian Oscars!" and "16 1st-time acting nominees" praise while De Leon got snubbed, despite her film managing to get into Best Picture, Director, and Original Screenplay.
That slap kept them in the headlines for months
Great insight into this year's very interesting ceremony! Helped fill in some gaps and some great insight on this year's winners. I totally agree with how it was filmed and produced this year (3:00) - they always seem to find new ways of making the broadcast look ever beautiful (I actually went behind the scenes to find out how this year was made, if anyone wants to find out more!)
I'm also in the '...why?' to how Jamie Lee won over Angela, but she'll forever have done "The Thing"!

This had to be one of the Worst set of Winners I have ever seen. To think Banshees and Tàr got nothing was a crime. I preferred the BAFTA winner's.
NGL, it's hard to celebrate _Everything Everywhere All at Once's_ 7 Oscars when _Tár_ and *_especially_*_ The Banshees of Inisherin_ won nothing. :(
