I been singing for 2 years and once you find the mask it's smooth sailing after that. This is the hardest thing in singing is finding this placement. I even hate the term mask because it was so confusing and I struggled big time. Muh, and Phoo where the best exercises. I did them both well over 3000 times to build the coordination.
You are sooo amazing. Thanks sooo much for your voice lessons. I have started doing all these exercises every day. You such a good teacher I have ever seen 😍
Inch by inch I am improving my voice range. Your scientific explanations connecting mid voice, head voice and back voice are very helpful. Sending love from Bangladesh
When I started singing, I researched different things about singing, came across the mask, but couldn't grasp what it meant, because I lacked the experience. Last week I was practicing switching between "pushing out" and "pulling in", and realized that sometimes when I pulled in it felt like I was pulling in and up, other times it felt like I was pulling in and down, and thought to myself, "I bet this is what singing in the mask is." I watched this video about 3 days ago. Since I have been practicing each of the sounds you mentioned with each different (I call the spots) resonator. At first, I did the exercises you guide us to do in the video. Then I started choosing 5 or 6 words in a song I enjoy singing, and focusing on singing each syllable with each optimal resonator. I'm starting to being able to do it more naturally and think less about it now. Your video really helped!
Matt Calder wow this is amazing ! What a great idea ! Thank you for your comment ! You’ve inspired me to create a new video . I’m so glad this was helpful to you ! 😊
@@melimusiclessons "Eee" is actually the most challenging, I find, even though I have practiced pushing out more than anything else. Since eee is a sound that is easier to sing in a higher pitch, I always sang it in the nasal resonator spot, so breaking the habit is going to take some time. I actually mostly just used mouth resonator for the chesty country music sound, that resembles less raspy vocal fry. I told a friend, this is probably what I'll focus most of my remaining 10,000 hours on.
Greetings Meli I chanced upon your video and have never looked back. Thank you for taking the time and spending all your efforts & recources to help us all over the world. I practice every minute I get going through all your videos over & over. Your'e super awesome and your teachings are profoundly invaluable to us all. Your entire approach is so pleasing and inspiring like MUSIC TO MY EARS! As a 50 year old fast approaching I'm thoroughly enjoying these lessons and will hope to showcase my new found talents with my band someday soon. Stay blessed and thank you again

I been working all kind of execise for year ,like pretty much a lot of years ,so A year ago . I was born with my vocal chords paralized ,big deal , When my father and brother could sing with vivretion high voices tenor .Natural and beautiful . Singing is the most challanging art to do . I do not mean to sound perfectly maybe in couple years ,but I sing on tune and quite reasonable A very tite and tweested larynx was the frustrated issue who caused a dramatic and painful throat . The sensation of or like same one pushing the adams apple hard enough to coused a constant edema on vocal chords for life time ,The crazy passion for singing when I could not even talk with out hurtting my throat by just talking or trying to . What the fac... Excuse my lenguage and my unsuficient english . Being born like that ,serrounded by family members who sing beautiful is no funny . I love to practice ,with her and Jeff Rolka .
Dorian Talledo thank you for sharing your story. It means a lot for me to hear this and to know you’re still trying to sing , otherwise you would’ve had clicked here . Take it one step at a time , and above all create space when you speak. Let me know if I can help in any way
This really helped me a lot! thank you so much,Ive been doing these great exercises for only 4 days but Ive improved a lot especially with using the mask,I just dont know what to say, but your really amazing and thank you so much!!!! may God bless you
Brilliant Thank you :-) :-), I have been watching so many videos and doing vocal exercises trying to sing higher. The Awh vowel sound was always difficult as I assumed it had to resonate in the same space/position as eee .I was trying to force the awh sound. You are the first person to explain the location of the vowel resonants
When you sing "O" and "OOO" is your soft pallet supposed to close? I've tried it both ways, but when it's open it it changes the "O" to more of an "uh", but when I close it out cuts off allot of the overall resonance.
i have to change my picture anyway i was wondering if you had exercises more for the flip? I don't know if that is what you call it but it is when you'r singing but you go up high and hold it. Also thank you again i hope to see more videos from you soon girl
April Leblanc hi April ! Life has been a little crazy ! But I promise I’m working on something awesome for you and all my awesome singers ! Thank u for being such a great follower ! Much love to you
I've been watching a lot of your videos and was wondering if you could maybe turn up the overall sound of your videos before you post them, I struggle to hear you sing when I'm singing
Marcel Venter hi ! The volume in my videos is already all the way up, but I'll try to make it louder without distorting... Last time I tried that and it sounded pretty bad , but thanks for your request and for watching my videos ! I'll try ! 😊
