  • We purchased Rocky about a month ago with the intention of taking it with us camping. After days of thinking and watching videos on how we are going to get it into the back of the truck this is what we decided to do.

      Ironically enough, when we where at NMB dry dock a guy drove his up his ramps and the back wheel broke through. He jumped off and the golf cart was leaning. Was a little scary. The campground we are at this week has a loading area for golfcarts. That may be the next think places add. You know us Americans and our toys!

      Thanks. I kept thinking that I didn't want it exposed in the bed of the truck, nor did I want it in the way back there as far as picking up mulch or wood, etc. Plus then I would have needed something so it didn't rub against the tailgate each time. This way it just sits on the tailgate until a certain point. Thanks again for watching.

      You can go with a standard cart thats not lifted and stuff, it'll be a little shorter but will nees to leave your tailgate down. Or they even have mini carts now I see around. Our cart just fits with the tailgate up but the footreat hangs out a few inches (8 ft bed). Also gotta watch cargo capacity. Our f350 is well over 3000 pounds so with the camper tongue weight of like 900 lbs and the cart weighing around 1100 lbs we have plenty of extra for more cargo. Happy camping and thanks for watching.

    Good day sir.
    As my wife and I are getting ready to place our order for a 2021 Entegra CornerStone 45W, I realized I was going to need a golf cart for the wife, then, well...needed a truck to put it into. Wondered how people were getting those things into the back of pickup trucks. Thought I'd ask UA-cam. Sure enough, found you, and answer was simple.
    Now. We are childless my wife and I. We wondered, do you get into anything your daughter is not apart of, LOL? Her on the skateboard, about running into the back of your car had us in fits of laughter. Guess that's the tom boy in her, and well, Daddy's girl!
    Thank you for giving us the answers we needed.

      No issues. If you have a weight distribution hitch your TT will be far away. I don't believe the foot rest hangs out much farther than the bumper does. We had a propride hitch which puts the TT far behind the truck. Probably over a foot farther than a standard hitch.

      Yes it did. I always folded down the windshield though. I remember back in the day having a turtle top on my minivan and hearing lots of wind noise driving down the road. I heard nothing with the golfcart. I don't know about the design but I know thousands of people do it. I was there the day mine arrived on a trailer, with several others, that must have driven down the road pretty fast. On the east coast, lots of these are converted by a place in Myrtle Beach and transferred up and down route 95 on the back of an open trailer. Thanks for watching and Happy Camping!

But there was no need for that so no when didn't affect it at all even alone without the camper I never could tell that it was back there. I always kept an eye on it but there really was no motion at all from the golf cart itself or just the roof or windshield.

    • @kenito1967
      @kenito1967 3 роки тому +1

      @@FTRV ... It's not the tailgate that you have to worry about (the hinge). Its the little cables that hold it up. They're not rated for a lot. I learned that from another UA-camr that you should make a bar that overrides the cable so in case one of the cables snaps, the bar will be there to secondary catch it. You could also make something that temporarily replaces the cable out of heavy metal to avoid it all together. Then when done put the cable back on. .... The other tip I learned, which I learned from others, which you probably don't need because its a F250 or larger (me F-150) is to back the cart in so the motor and batteries are not causing the tail to much weight. Backing it in distributes the weight more forward. Your F-350 Doesn't have to worry about that. Just passing that on to small truck owners. Enjoy ! I especially like the winch idea because you are not on the golf cart in case something were to happen... i.e. fall off.

    • @kenito1967
      @kenito1967 3 роки тому

      I just looked it up... they do sell heavier tailgate cables. The normal cables support 600 - 800lbs. They are usually 3/16 of an inch diameter. Which is .1875 inch. Heavy duty cables are thicker .232 - .249 inch. .... DG Manufacturing sells an EX Tailgate Support Bar ($89.99 on Amazon) that installs in addition to your cable to double up on your cable, too to help support the weight.

    • @jsimonff
      @jsimonff 3 роки тому

      @kenito1967 he can’t load it up that way because of the rear seat step up. This is exactly the way I was thinking of doing mine before I saw this video. And now that I’ve seen it done, I will definitely be doing it. @First Time RVers, harbor freight sells solar panels and voltage regulators. That’s what I plan on putting on my cart to charge the spare battery, which will power the winch, radio, phone chargers, etc.

      I can take some this weekend. Basically I used a winch mounting plate from harbor freight. It was like 5 bucks and drilles holes into the frame of the cart. Bolted the plate onto the frame and the winch onto that.

      @@FTRV I’ve bought everything you have. Just couldn’t tell exactly how it was mounted on the cart.

      @@FTRV I don’t know how to PM through you tube, but I’m running into a little trouble mounting the winch plate on my ez go. I have the same set up as you it looks like, got the badlands winch and the 5.99 plate from harbor freight, just don’t know where to drill the holes to mount the plate. When you say frame is that the heavy metal bar that looks like the axel ?

    Where did you get the ramps?

      I got them at Lowe's. The are the kind that don't fold and have a arch to them.

    I'll have a 6.5' bed, and I'll just use thick chains plus the two straps to secure it!

      We got rid of our golf cart when we got our 5th wheel but we do miss it. We went the whole route that's worked out pretty good too.

    I am looking to do the same thing, however I only have a 6’5” ft bed. I’m thinking I’ll have to remove the tailgate.

      18” shank receiver hitch will extend your trailer farther back so you can leave the tailgate on. If you need more clearance, the have a kit that allows for the power jack to be removable.

      It's a f350. Basically a 250 with an extra leaf spring for more cargo capacity.

      Because I watched a man at a campground come too close to an injury when his ramp broke halfway up. Luckily he was able to jump away from the golfcart before it tumbled down. I've seen to many loading fails on youtube.

      Have a trickle charger on it. Always make sure it's fully charged before I load it.
