I have 2 1971 Datsun 521"s one for 44yrs while the other for 26yrs. I became a collector by default as I did not like the overpriced rigs of today. Datsuns are cheap to operate, easy to repair, reliable and easily modifiable. Glad I kept mine all these yesrs.
I love the 521 series Datsun trucks the very best. Be nice if Nissan would build them again, this time with a 4 wheel drive option. Gas prices ate out of sight, bet ya if they started building the 521 series trucks again, they'd get rich over night.
So cool you get to save this one. I just got a 76 version (like the one my Dad taught me to drive with). Runs great but still needs lots of love to refresh it back to stock. So, looking forward to seeing what you do with this one.
This is a good truck, well worth saving, great patina. I had a little hustler, only problem was the king pins would seize up if not driven regularly 👍😀🎩
Man ! I'm familiar with this exact car ! it's one of the toughest machines ever built by Japanese Nissan car company ! first you need to flash the engine from all that old oil, fix the radiator, get new tyres ! don't change the wheels ! they are original ! with some sanding and painting the wheels will look sharp. with new oil filter, engine oil and new electric parts, and you will be the King of 1975, man ! Amazingly great found ! Congratulations !
Tell ya what I would do with this little girl. After gettin her running like a little honey bee, and she's in pretty amazing shape for the year and series 620 that she is, start painting the underside chassis and floor boards if they are in still good shape with rust olem black paint. Get ready to sand her all down and prime this little girl real good with the exception of the inside of the bed, sand the primer and paint her up real good. Work on the interior cleaning it up and getting it ready to paint, from there get new tires on the stock wheels after painting the wheels nice then get paint on bed liner on this little girl. She'll look better than when she came from the factory! Love this little truck!
I know this vid is a bit old, but if you haven't already found out, the bolt pattern (and offset) is the same as a chevy truck, 6x139.7, so you're very spoiled for choice on rims to go on this, if you're going that route. Mine came with K5 blazer 4x4 steelies on it, so that's a good place to start.
Thanks for the information! I honestly never knew. I sold it to my best friend but might buy it back because it’s sitting… I really appreciate it! I’m currently deployed so I won’t be able to make anymore content until I get home next spring.
Just saw this now... I just litterie died... omg I feel old. Had a 610 wagon with a rotory swap back in the day but my friend crashed it. Like RC car..crumble like a stepped on recycle can.
@@modelashane7545 No, please leave the wheels and tires as they are. No ugly wagon wheels and thin tires, no over sized ugly wheels and tires, just stock wheels and tires. 20 years ? I got one after 19 years parked 50 feet from the ocean. The body is to far rusted to be even remotely safe. The only Mechanical problem it had was the chain tensioner stuck in the block after I started it. I had to remove the Dist. and oil pump / intermediate shaft. Then i had a clear line of sight to pry the tensioner back out until it worked properly. There is no reason to remove the chain cover for this operation.

Facts I love datsun
I rescued a 1976 Datsun 280z 2+2 out of a junkyard back in 2019 and have been daily driving it since last October. Can't beat those L series engines.

Trust it will not need a lot ! The parts are cheap and can go for so long time ! You're one of the luckiest men on Earth !
I have a 79, datsun pick up, 620 I would love to get back on the road and paint it. But it's so rusty.
Don’t paint it! Just drive it!

I would paint her a nice color and keep her well taken care of both mechanicially and body wise by means of keeping it washed and waxed all the time.

Wish I could have this little girl. I love the 521 series trucks the very best, however the 620 series trucks are pretty darn nice looking to.

Lseries Datsun Engines are Really reliable like Toyota of the past :) make it run bro:)
I found a 70s Datsun pickup in the woods of my dad's land in Northern NY and I am gonna fix it up any suggestions on places to find parts?
There is a Facebook group called Datsun 620 that has a TON of helpful people and parts.
Such a cool car, k20 swap or sr20 is big in all the Aussie ones
That’s super cool
It is!
A Datsun L engine never dies.
Still have this?.. is it forsale? I’m interested
can you link me to that hip hop beat you used in this video?
Beatiful 👍
Chevy, Toyota, Nissan, and I think there's another, 6x5.5 my dude. Just find some fat daddy Prime wheels!!
Will do baby!

Have you watched any Puddin's Fab Shop, AKA Datsun King?
Damn no follow up video???
A pesar de 20 años esta muy bueno
Any Chevy or does 6 lug works. Titan, D21 wheels, Silverado steelies.

Good
20 years of sitting is nothing for these trucks. I've been driving mine all over the rockies for the last 6 months, mostly original parts.
Wish I could find a little girl like this out there.
Man I'd love to throw a lil 305 in that thing
If I'm doing any swap it will have to be k24
