I saw this film when I was 15 years old, today I have 55 and it's a great pleasure to see it each time. Great movie, great soundtrack.

Such a great movie. They would play it on Labor Day every year when I was a kid. After watching it all the kids in my neighborhood Army club would don our surplus gear and go re-live it. Always loved the music. Especially the "Flight to Africa" which had such a neat arrangement.
Years later I wound up flying in Africa and it sure brought a lot of context to what is seen in the film.

“The Wild Geese” is not the standard war movie, although the poster promises some typical action. Without spoiling anything: the movie has a bit more to offer and with the CD release of Roy Budd’s “The Wild Geese 2” last year we were reminded how enjoyable his music for the two movies- and how great the first of the two movies was. The score by Budd reminds of the styles of Elmer Bernstein and Jerry Goldsmith and focuses mainly on the main theme, like John Addison’s “A Bridge Too Far”. Roy Budd, a talented composer, passed away way too early at the age of 46, but let’s enjoy this rather optimistic music he left.

Brilliant score - so many different themes. Roy was a great composer who never got the accolades his work deserved.

      Hello njuham,
let's see, but it is a fact that we have not infinitely masses of great movies and scores, but there are still many there to discover. :-)
      Thanks for everything!

I have several Film scores but not this one by Roy Budd. I was never a Fan but I knew he wrote some wonderful music for Films. Where are the Roy Budd's today in the film industry none to be found. Great selection Fred as usual I really enjoyed it. Out.

Roger Moore was asked about the legendary drinkers Richard Harris and Richard Burton. He said "I never had a drink problem, I always knew how to find it"

Notification says a new Suite by Fred. I click. Great film and a great soundtrack. Loved the film as a YA. Film was on TV again a couple of months ago and so I saw it just recently. The music can easily be listened to outside of the context of the film which is a bonus. Now I have to add another OST to my list to purchase. Good thing its available on vinyl. Thanks again Fred!

      Hello Morlock,
I thought the same - a perfect score to just run and enjoy even without (even knowing) the picture.
      Thanks for your kind words!

The movies of our youth! We grew up with them, and loving it! A great hit, back in the late '70s, here in Greece too! Brilliant work from all the crew and the artists! Bravo!

I find that Rafer´s theme is really "And this is my Beloved"...which really is an Alexander Borodin composition.

    Hallo Fred.
    Eine sehr gute Auswahl. ^_^
    Bis denne.

Is there a purpose for the Borodin string quartet melody being quoted verbatim? A reference in the movie?

I believe that it is used for Richard Harris' character of Rafer Janders.

A good film. But the amount of humor is not that good. This an average score, specially in main section when the soldiers jumps from the plane. The music is so out of place.
