Thanks for this. Luke is my favorite comic hero and one of the reasons I took up strength sports (powerlifting, strongman, highland games). Plus I resemble him. Lol
I think the reason Netflix toned him down because on the series he new to using his powers. One of Luke's skill traits is if you do hurt him when he heals his skin becomes stronger. Remember on the show he got shot with the Judas bullet the 1 time it hurt him but the 2nd time on the 2nd season it did nothing. He even mentioned it on the show. In the comics Luke more experienced. So all things that hurt him in the past won't hurt him in the future because of skin durability.
@@youtubestudiosucks978 Yes. Though it’s not an official term in any media I’m aware of, “Zenkai” boosts have been around in comics and whatnot for decades
Cage started out at about 3 tons. Lost and regained his power a few times and has gotten stronger over the years. Durability is really his thing but he is NOW an easy 50+ton man.(40-50 can go for short periods against much stronger: see Wrecker,Ikaris,Rogue). Didn't really get back up on that Hulk blow for a WHILE and the "earthquake " was DEFINITELY more the oncoming HUGE ASS Chtholu Beast breaking into our realm. Still at range 50, Invulnerable skin and lots of grit and Street savy Luke is a tough fight for Almost anyone......But it's Blue Marvel that's your World class Brother.
I'd like to see Cage go against more powerhouses even tho he'd lose but it would show how freaking tough he is and isn't scared to go toe-to-toe w/the big guns!
He beaten Orka, Absorbing Man, Man Mountain Marko, Iron Clad,. Went toe to toe with Wonder Man, Thing, Proxima Midnight, Old school Iron Man, Juggernaut (half-powered).
Luke Cage aka "Power Man" the all time favorite superhero of actor Nicholas Coppola who took Luke's name and has been known as "Nicholas CAGE" for the longest. 👊🏾💥
Luke Cage vs Rhino... That was a good measuring stick for the strength of Cage.. Also, Cage beat / curb stomped Absorbing Man while on a date with She-Hulk...
Okay ... Awesome Vid Bro. And also... Yes he has had a couple run-ins with the Hulk. And he has held his own in ALL of them. Including being the catalyst for the Hulk becoming KLUH !!! Luke Cage ... Aka PowerMan..... Is Highly Underrated and was SERIOUSLY nerfed as far as the Netflix Series goes. His Feats of Strength in the comics are unreal... And keep in mind... Sue storms Forcefield have survived... Nukes, Energy Blasts, and even Magical Attacks !!! And Luke was the only one able to break through with sheer force. Now... We are talking a forcefield that stopped the Hulk and Even Galactus !!!! Yeah... Let that sink in !!!!
Good assessment! Yes...it's hard to know which category Luke Cage actually falls in terms of strength levels. And since the comic books are the predominate reference and canon, we should always look to that no matter what the MCU presents. I have a comic book where Luke Cage fights Merged Hulk or Prof. Hulk to a draw----period. So this would make him able to stand toe-to-toe with a lot of characters of high strength levels in the Marvel world.
Good review on Luge Cage. I get most of my information regarding Marvel’s characters from a series of books called Marvel Universe. These books discuss origins, strength levels powers. They even gave stats on height, weight, and eye color. I will be the first to admit that these books may be somewhat outdated, being published in the late eighties early nineties. However, the information printed is still relatively good. It allows for discussion on this subject matter. Regarding Luge Cage, aka Power Man, it stresses his skin’s invulnerability, which makes him incredibly durable in a battle. While his strength is somewhat impressive, it is his durability that makes him the true badass.
In his early days Cage had trouble breaking a chain. Then he went toe to toe with Ben Grimm ( Thing exoskeleton version) then years later Grimm beat him with ease in Grimm's Marvel Two In One series. When I read the second Marvel Universe handbook in 1986, his listing said he could lift only 3 tons?! I'm glad he's stronger now. I just wish Marvel hadn't killed the speedster Thunderbolt. His battle and team up with Cage in issues 41-43 of Luke Cage, Power Man is one of my favorites. A character with lots of potential.
I remember that comic book well when the Hulk slapped him thru those buildings... the Incredible Hulk #300!! Iron fist tried to hit the Hulk with the fist and the Hulk held his hand out and Iron Fist felt the pain of his own powers and went down and PowerMan( Luke Cage) yelled “Danny”.... ran and hit the Hulk with a flying tackle from behind and it was effected but the Hulk turned around and gave him this look and smacked the 💩💩💩💩 outta PowerMan(Luke Cage) and that’s when you see him flying thru those buildings!! Awesome classic comic. Hulk #300. Everybody was in that book fighting him and helping people from the Hulk’s devastation!!!
Luke Cage gained his powers from a weakened version of the same process that granted Wonder Man his powers, he is now and has been for decades underrated by many.
Well to be more precise, Luke was part of the Weapon program (unknowingly) that created Captain America, Deadpool, and Wolverine. Marvel retcon's are weird, but this one actually works.
He was part of my favorite team ups. As a child I didn't care about Iron Fist or Power Man, by themselves. And by themselves, their comics didn't sell well. But teamed up, they were awesome! I preferred them to DC's Dynamic Duo.
My all-time Marvel artist Jack "King" Kirby, Gil Kane, John and Sal Buscema, John Romita Sr. & Jr. . And one of my all time fav Jim Starlin. Their artwork were flawless in creating the Marvel Universe
They really did Luke Cage a disservice when they discarded him after Netflix. Mike Colter is a perfect Luke Cage, the people like the show, and it would bring in a ton of money for Marvel. But alas the Luke Cage tv show was sending the wrong message of trying to be a good dude in the current environment. Can't have that.
That's Disney who owned Marvel majority of comics not all, was not Netflix as Disney got rid of most of the Marvel comic book based series on Netflix. Don't forget Disney was starting Disney Plus streaming, and we know Disney is hard on violent cinema despite Logan which was a Fox property prior to Disney buying Fox
Pretty good video, albeit in need of an update. There are lots of solid feats that got missed. There are also some odd statements here and there that kinda conflict with the comics. Particularly around the 5 minute mark. One example being the comment on the Doom fight since I'm fairly sure Doom lost that fight, or at the very least was losing before it got interrupted? Anyways I look forward to more videos and a possible update:) *Overall Cage is a pretty underrated power house, who based on everything is sitting in the Thing's range of strength*
According to the Marvel Database Luke is capable of HERCULEAN levels of strength as the bulldozer incident was done with no strain an it weighed 54 tons. Alot of people also don't know Luke had his power levels increased 3 times. Once in prison where a corrupt guard messed with the controls in an effort to kill him. Then he was exposed to the treatment again and thirdly the power man virus increased his strength yet again. Keep in mind when he fought Namor, some of that fight took place in the water where Namor becomes his absolute strongest.
Luke Cage is actually stronger than that. He's been class 50 for decades at this point. His top speed is at least over 600mph. He's been shown to move faster than Spiderman and Spidey topped out at more than 1400mph. He has gotten slower since he mostly web swings and doesn't run much.
Spiderman should definitely be in the 25 ton class. Also there is no way Luke Cage is faster than him. I would say he might be stronger than spidey(but I think that's a stretch too)and he's definitely more durable. Yeah I'm a huge Spider-Man fan, but Peter has held up collapsed buildings, underwater lairs, fought the Hulk, kept a fully fueled plane from crash landing and not to mention he holds back when fighting. As evident when Doc Ock(Superior Spider-Man)takes over his body he literally punches Scorpions jaw off with the flick of his wrist and is surprised because he doesn't know his own strength.
He has nearly unlimited endurance so he can run almost indefinitely, also he's very intelligent, no he's not Stark or Richards smart but he's very very smart.
When he 1st vame out(hero for hire comic)he was around class 10-15, got injured in a secret wars story, went into a coma then somehow upgraded to class 60-70. Plus his above average skill in fighting complements his strength so he can fight stronger opponents.
Needed this. When they say his skin is IMPERVIOUS, they mean it! I hope Cage carries over to the movies in a New Avengers themed movie. (Edit: also loving this How Strong series! Im surprised you're not getting more views!)
@@IvaNTheUnStoppable What's up, Ivan! Big fan! You should check his late 90's comics of Heroes for Hire. He was definitely fought more powerful opponents and won. Like Ironclad from the U-Foes, Orka the killer whale villain, Sandman but lost on purpose cause....well didn't want spoil that one! Also, fought one if the deviants, can't remember his name but he was biiig but again lost cause of some plot to the story. In the New Avengers, he fought the Living Laser and told him that tickles cause his powers couldn't penetrate his skin and then knocked him out. Aww yeah also, he beat up the Absorbing Man. My bad, that's enough for now but you check 'em out if you already didn't. Thanks for this vid, playa!

Nice video thanks! Yeah seemed like they nerfed him big time on his show, that said I still enjoyed it. Of course the show would have been less dramatic if he was as powerful as in the comics (as you effectively described)
I have a couple of questions my good man and I liked the video quite a lot, but can sabertooth or woverine cut Luke and did he get stronger over the years like hulk or colossus or does he stay same base strength over the years. Also he did survive the nuke but died to the poison radiation lol.
@@IvaNTheUnStoppable yeah I always thought that but most writers never make them fight and when they do its whomever opinions is it like woverine couldn't cut colouss but now he can
Cage back in the day was at a strength level class 3. I’m glad that he was upgraded to a class 25, but his claim to fame was always his steel hard skin.
DUDE, how could you not go over the fact he beat down the MIGHTY Sabertooth. And beat down original power man Trying to get his name back, MR LUKE CAGE SHOWED HIM THE DOOR.
actually when marvel initially started the official marvel strength class chart back in the late 70s, early 80s it did literally mean thats is what they could lift. But when the company agreed to their first crossover with dc, and they had superman state that the marvel supers were only a little less powerful than they were, marvel had to adjust their strength chart. Otherwise, there was no way fights between the characters from different universes could be competitive and relevent.
Good video. I didn’t know most of that stuff. The only problem is that the MCU has Black Panther. You know D... well that they are not putting to heavy hitters in one movie.
I grew up with Power Man and Iron Fist. They were downtown heros who tried to keep the city crime free and sometimes got involved with big super hero fights. But the great thing about Luke Cage is that he was low key, cool and on the street.
The powered luke cage way down in the Netflix series. I read power man and iron fist comics back in the 70's and it seems like cage possesses the strength of an average asgardian male(25 tons). Thor is in the 100 ton range. He doesn't have a healing factor, but really need one because he's so difficult to injure. He also filled in for the thing in the fantastic four temporarily. He fought the wrecker who is another 25 tonner and knocked him out with his own crowbar. Luke Cage's stamina, strength, durability and fighting skills make him very dangerous. I'm glad he's one of the good guys.
Luke Cage aka Powerman is a beast. I use to collect his comic books and still have them to this day. They had a ranking of heavyweight and super heavyweights. He was among the Super Heavyweights in a class with Hulk and Thor. The way they did him the series on Netflix could of been a little better with this strength. But don’t get me wrong I definitely enjoyed it.
I wish that the shows and movies didn't have to nerf characters and streamline their backstories and abilities. I just hope eventually we get to see Blue Marvel. That dude's got one of the best origins and powersets I've heard of.
I've done the math, in the video feats of strength samples, when he is with Doctor Strange, if the rock door he moves is made of granit, Luke Cage can drag at least 200 tons.
He's a weird combo of Wolverine and Doc Samson. In the sense that he has a hax power that allows him to punch above his weight and makes him hard to kill, but not a lot of "woah" feats that make people give him the respect he deserves.
Pffft Luke Cage- aka Powerman.. he is a powerhouse! He is same level as some of Marvel’s heaviest hitters. All heroes tend to Power up depending on who’s writing them, but I read the Heroes for Hire comics as a kid, Luke Cage could always go toe to toe with the Thing, Hulk, all the heavyweights. He was always more of an underground character though so he didn’t get the same profile as the bigger selling guys, but he could always hang with them, and yes he never backed up from a throw down. Always one of my favorite characters
Im going to say the Netflix show dumbed him down and he was still trying to figure his full potential I'm going that the older the stronger and more durable he will get 💪
The very early days of Cage were the best. Netflix I thought took Cage based on the beginning years when he still seemed more as a "normal" human. When he teamed up with Danny Rand I felt it was one of the best duos of Marvel at that time. The only reason he got a major increase in power was right after Stan Lee retired from the bizz and Marvel was under new leadership. I will always prefer the 1972 version of Cage then today's Cage. It feels like his old emotions have been ripped right out from him. I feel that Cage is Marvel's version of Superman. What I mean by this is that with Superman there's no real consistency with him. He's either overpowered or underpowered, one punch may turn his head and not move him whereas that same punch could send the Man of Steel through buildings or leave a good size hole in the ground. Because of this the storylines lack everything. Same goes for Cage in my opinion. But that was a generation ago so what do I know?

Makes sense!!! Relatability is key
Isnt that a zenkai?
I heard he's a lik' stronger now, like in the 65+ or more tonnage range.
I'd like to see Cage go against more powerhouses even tho he'd lose but it would show how freaking tough he is and isn't scared to go toe-to-toe w/the big guns!
Wym lose.😂😂😂 imagine.
True fact!!
Luke Cage vs Rhino...
That was a good measuring stick for the strength of Cage..
Also, Cage beat / curb stomped Absorbing Man while on a date with She-Hulk...
Notice how She- hulk kept running back to get that DDD!!!!
Luke is my favorite character of all time. Love this video.
"He's able to shatter a shirt completely made of steel". Valid point but that line is so funny to me 😅
He didnt survive that nuclear explosion. He died soon after.
Luke Cage can now lift/press 50 tons. His durability is approximately the same as titanium steel.
He took a punch from THE HULK and survived?! WTF! I'm sold.
Right
The way you present your content is great bro.. *subscribed*
It was an amped up version of the program that gave Warpath his powers.
I agree both characters are so underrated
Great take 👊🏽
Great video Ivan on Luke Cage
He was part of my favorite team ups.
As a child I didn't care about Iron Fist or Power Man, by themselves. And by themselves, their comics didn't sell well.
But teamed up, they were awesome!
I preferred them to DC's Dynamic Duo.
Really liked the video bro! I didnt how Netflix watered down Luke Cage. Him surviving a nuclear blast is jaw-dropping 😳
He's basically an upper tier Asgardian warrior
I have the entire collection of Luke Cage graphic novels.
120 issues of Power Powerman and Iron fist. 👍
Wanna sell em
Damn dude that’s awaome cage is ma man
That's pretty impressive.
My all-time Marvel artist Jack "King" Kirby, Gil Kane, John and Sal Buscema, John Romita Sr. & Jr. . And one of my all time fav Jim Starlin. Their artwork were flawless in creating the Marvel Universe
This is amazing, please make more like cage videos.
Just found your page. Great content im subbed
Good stuff bro. 😎👍🏿
Great video!
Great video man and luke cage is so cool :]
Good video such an underrated character.
Anyways I look forward to more videos and a possible update:)
*Overall Cage is a pretty underrated power house, who based on everything is sitting in the Thing's range of strength*
Awesome stuff. I also agree that Luke Cage second best marvel show. First daredevil, third punisher,
Luke is a beast end of story.
One of my Favorite comics growing up. Power man and Iron Fist..
Luke Cage has been upgraded to class 50.
That first season was gold, second season was cool
Luke Cage is actually stronger than that. He's been class 50 for decades at this point. His top speed is at least over 600mph. He's been shown to move faster than Spiderman and Spidey topped out at more than 1400mph. He has gotten slower since he mostly web swings and doesn't run much.
Great video bruh
Back in the day he was 3 ton. Loved those issues.
Learned some things thanks bro
Stay tuned for More Luke Cage Soon :-)
Thanks... I LIKE and respect Luke Cage.
As evident when Doc Ock(Superior Spider-Man)takes over his body he literally punches Scorpions jaw off with the flick of his wrist and is surprised because he doesn't know his own strength.
marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Strength_Scale He's way stronger than spider-man my guy. Lol
This scale is kinda strange and odd
He has nearly unlimited endurance so he can run almost indefinitely, also he's very intelligent, no he's not Stark or Richards smart but he's very very smart.
He layed the smackdown on Dr. Doom!
I have a feeling that's gonna change soon! View wise! I'm getting allot of positive feedback from this how strong series!
@@IvaNTheUnStoppable I hope so man. You deserve it!
I'll definitely give those a look! Appreciate the love on the page! Hope you're enjoying your time here!
@@IvaNTheUnStoppable I am, right on!
On the Netflix series, there was that One Bullet that ReaLLy Messed Him Up By Penetrating His Skin Deep Enough To Put Him Outta Commission For Weeks! Knowing Luke Cage From The Comics, I KNEW That Was B.S. Tho!
This is more about durability than strength.
I like the video you have done on Luke cage!! I want more of your videos on comics please
Take a scroll through my page! I have plenty
Wolverine can cut Luke imo
@@IvaNTheUnStoppable yeah I always thought that but most writers never make them fight and when they do its whomever opinions is it like woverine couldn't cut colouss but now he can
Cage back in the day was at a strength level class 3. I’m glad that he was upgraded to a class 25, but his claim to fame was always his steel hard skin.
DUDE, how could you not go over the fact he beat down the MIGHTY Sabertooth. And beat down original power man Trying to get his name back, MR LUKE CAGE SHOWED HIM THE DOOR.
I can't show everything!!!!
actually when marvel initially started the official marvel strength class chart back in the late 70s, early 80s it did literally mean thats is what they could lift. But when the company agreed to their first crossover with dc, and they had superman state that the marvel supers were only a little less powerful than they were, marvel had to adjust their strength chart. Otherwise, there was no way fights between the characters from different universes could be competitive and relevent.
Great video. I don't recall him getting back up after being cracked by the savage Hulk, though.
Ah! those Gil Kane penned masterpieces were my favorite.
When you were explaining his speed, all I could think about was:
Bushmaster: “Your not faster than Usain Bolt ya know”
Luke Cage: “I never said I was”
Dude Luke gotta a lot of style on the thumbnail pic.
I love Luke cage he's my idol
Very strong but more invulnerable than strong.
I've done the math, in the video feats of strength samples, when he is with Doctor Strange, if the rock door he moves is made of granit, Luke Cage can drag at least 200 tons.
He should have the Juggernaut Avatar.........
With the chain of cyttorak!!!!!
Gosh!
Kicking Ass my man Luke Cage aka Power Man !!
He's a weird combo of Wolverine and Doc Samson. In the sense that he has a hax power that allows him to punch above his weight and makes him hard to kill, but not a lot of "woah" feats that make people give him the respect he deserves.
Sweet Christmas, Luke is awsome!
Sweet Christmas, it's one of Uptown's finest! 😉
strength low end: high outer deep into it to boundless + to levels into it aka ( high 1a to tier0) creation
Do a video on Slug, The Blob, and Big Bertha.
