    Another cool video, love that this stadium has basically stayed the same. Don't find that everyday anymore. This stadium seems to have all kinds of history to it. How fun! I would have loved to seen Elvis play anywhere. I was 17 when he passed, so only been driving for a short while, but boy, would have loved to gone and seen him somewhere. Loved seeing the stadium from the air, so nice was the view. Can't wait for part 2. Thanks Billy!

    I'm so glad you researched and found out about Elvis' play dates in Wilson. And, thank you for doing it. My sister saw him at the high school (Charles L. Coone High School) and will probably remember him playing the stadium. I'll send her the link to this video. I'm sure she'll get a big kick out of seeing it and will appreciate the little trip down memory lane you've provided. Thank you again. BTW: When you get out to California again you might check out Lake Tahoe. Elvis played Sahara Tahoe at least once a year. It was usually August September in Las Vegas then Las Vegas again around February, Tahoe in May and traveling the country the rest of the time. In between he divided his time between Graceland, the house on Monovale and the house in Palm Springs. Anyway, I saw a lot of wonderful shows in Tahoe and it is another piece of the Elvis puzzle. :)

    This is exactly 19 miles from my house. Elvis had also eaten at a burger joint in my town of Rocky Mount NC. The place was owned by a family friend of ours, Arthur Pitt. The place was called the Pitt Stop on S Church St. Not sure of the year but assumed it was in the 70s. Not sure how old the restaurant was. He came in and ordered about 6 hamburgers with everything and sat down by himself and ate them all. I was eating here in 1977 when it came over the radio that he had passed away. I was 8 years old. I had been a big Elvis fan since I was 3 years old.

    • @SpaGuy
      @SpaGuy  4 роки тому

      Why would Elvis be in Rocky Mount in the 70's that would be my question.. Also Elvis rarely went anywhere by himself.. I would doubt the story based on those two things alone..

    • @ericruss4189
      @ericruss4189 4 роки тому

      @@SpaGuy he was with others and it may not have been the 70s. I just assumed that it was. He was, from the story that was told to me, enroute to a concert. The others stayed outside while he went in. I was young when I was told this. I don't truly remember all the details. It could have occurred in the 50s. To get to Wilson, you would have to travel US301 back in those days and that would be Church St in Rocky Mount during that time. The burger joint was on 301, so it is possible. Wish I remembered all the details.

    That was concerning how Elvis fell down…did he fall off the stage? I heard while filming one of his movies, he also was pushed away by a co-star in her trailer across a table and hurt his back one time. I don’t recall the details other than he was a bit frisky and she wasn’t having it. Seems she realized he had gotten hurt and tried to help him up but he told her to leave him lie there for a bit till he managed to get up on his own. I’m wondering how he injured his lower back as his autopsy showed a slipped disc at L4. Of course with all the rough skating, football and karate it could have been caused by numerous of injuries sustained! Makes me say wonder though.
