- Dean Guitars unveils the new DIme Amp. Using Dime's original Dine-o-flame guitar, Grady Champion, Dime's lifelong guitar tech puts the Dime Amp to the test and it sounds great!! This Amp comes out Summer 2009 and it is priced very affordably for all the rockers out there.
www.deanguitars.com
Grady Champion was a great guitar tech and is a stand up guy. Respect to Grady for being the backbone of Dime’s sound.
You don't need Dime's Guitars Amps to sound like him. You need His Fingers!
You’d have to have passion, dedication and soul as well
No problem
No. You actually need his effects and gain. It doesn't work that way
All the hate about Grady. The guy is a fucking genius. Lay off him..
Dime's right hand man.
And a real nice guy talk to him all the time on Instagram
this is why the sound guy, is THE SOUND GUY, not the musician.
They forgot the one key component to Dime's sound.... His fingers....
It's actually the way he held his pick and how hard he hit the strings. Fingers on the fretboard don't make that much of a difference.
Nah they didn't forget brotha....none of us will ever forget! Take into account probably but, I've got to say the amp is chugging!!
@@albinomma Pressing the strings hard or soft makes a huge difference too and vibrato of course.
@@HenritheHorse applying bend to strings, sure, but whether you're holding your chord hard or loose doesn't really do anything. Dime's sound was his attack with the pick and littlethings like upstrokes together a heavier crunch on some power chords(example: Cowboys from hell verses)
@@albinomma I know I have that hard picking hand too, but pushing the strings too hard or soft can make the notes out of tune.
The reason the tone doesn't sound good is because the audio your hearing is coming through that handheld mic like 2-3 feet away from the speaker cab... which is not a good representation.
You could literally just buy the randall for even less.
Exactly. And it even sounds so much better and closer to dimebag anyway.
Sam Hepfer It depends which randall theyre talking about. The warhead will be more than this head by itself and the rg100 isnt close to dimes tone without alot of extras so no you really cant
I don't know dude, I've got a RG1503h and I find it sounds close to Dime's tone.
I've been through the RG1503, RG3003 and RH100 G2 and this one sounds closest to me. That's aside from the 1503 blowing fuses and 3003 having a low gain problem.
I think I will trust Grady (the Dimebag guitar tech for pretty much his whole career)
It's really nice to see a CEO that is actual somewhat in touch with the company, and has a personal love/interest for what the company is about. That is what makes a business genuine. Not just some banker trying to keep his wallet full.
Rip man
It sounds like that Dean is tuned down one whole step!!
there was only one darrell abbott and you can buy every f***ing amp, effect, guitar, and you will never be him. it's cool to try different equipment, emulate your hero's and experiment by all means, but for christ sakes be original and practice 8-10 hrs. a day for 5-10 years and be the 1st you! so much about playing guitar is missed and if your a young shredder remember, play with balls,be yourself, practice shit you don't want to practice even if it's harder than shit.and work on picking style and picking attack. remember, music is business and thats o.k. but don't belive anything you hear and only half of what you see.
Were you at the top of the mountain with the ten commandments?
The sound was extremely sharp with the marshall cabs, it sounded really brutal!
just wanna let all the snobs know; Dime stuck with solid states his whole career 'till he switched to krank in his later life. Also, the sound in solid states amp has vastly improved over the years. Give it a chance at your local retailer. And if it sucks, then by your logic, so did Dime's sound throughout the 90s.
Based on this video I would rather have a fender grunt man 212 than this !
"It's nice to see Dime's name anywhere." -seems like Dean took this too far...
When she said do you know all the songs I think she was ready to lay on the floor.
i cant wait for the retail to hit up this amp, probably sometime in June...its going to be great, and for a great price too.
Nice cans!!
I don't think it was anywhere near Dime's tone.I actually thought it was kind of weak and shitty. Unless they've found a way to replicate his go to Randall RH100's and the rack equipment he had in front of it. And they're playing thru a guitar with Bill Lawrence pickups installed upside down (IIRC) then no you will not be getting his tone out of this amp.
And as with any guitar player a lot of their tone really comes down to their hands and how they play. That's why when Dime picked up a guitar he sounded like Dime, Van Halen sounds like Van Halen, George Lynch sounds like George Lynch, Marty Friedman sounds like Marty Friedman etc etc.
Sure that's your opinion & you know what they say about opinions but when its the guy that designed the Randalls & his buddy who was there the entire time & probably saw Dime play more then any human besides Vinny I think i'll take there word for it. Besides like Eddie VH always say's the tone is mostly in your hands. There's the difference your hearing. Dimes not playing it here. But you know that.
True story dude that tone lies in them hands and u can't duplicate that no matter what!!!
RockNJeep Rg100 for first album then the randall century 200 for the next couple then back to the rg100 for trendkill and suppose to be the warhead for RTS. The rack mounted randalls were mentioned but idk if he ever used them
Just picked up my dime D412 half stack!
At 13yrs old with my attic camp replica Dime series with the bolt on maple neck lol this guy I got 4 lessons from told me you don’t need the, ‘DIME wah pedal’ to sound like Dime’s, you just need the wah pedal he used.
That repainting a Dunlop pedal in camp and putting Dime’s name on it was just a way to charge more money..
I agreed with that but the fact that they had Grady work on this thing really give me the confidence to snag one
he really likes looking down her gown
Getcha pull brother
Sounds tight
With that list, keep in mind that the RG100HT was IDENTICAL to the RG80ES/RG100, just that it was rackmounted.
The Century 200 had a different voicing and a built in "gate" then the RG-series, but still sounded pretty similar(More aggressive though.).
So essentially, NOTHING happened in his rig until reinventing the steel.
Well, he still used the Century's then, and used the first Warhead for it's cleans only.
i bought the dime head a few months ago and holy fuck dudes! the amp is so awesome! the fucker is loud, the tone is amazing, the crunch is insane, and its so quiet when u need it! i love the amp, i don't think its dead on to dime's tone but if thats what you want its a good first step.
@ferbicus Thank you! And his genius!
@RandomHero12 unfortunately not...as long as kids keep buying the shit that Dean pumps out, they'll keep pumping it out.
lol at 2:18! look in the background and Robert Marcello from danger danger walks by mindlessly! hahhaa what a legend!
the man the legend the DRAGON
dimebag r.i.p miss you so much
He's playing the mash up that Dimebag played in the Randall guitar clinic video
I got this when it first come out and it was faulty and I just took it back never got another. But I've got two of the little 20 watt combos and they're really nice hard to find also
yeah that would be pretty cool....the thing is though, is that when they are playing it, they are also using dimes mxr flanger doubler, which is part of his sound...so we'll have to see what it really sounds like without it.
whats dimes settings on that flanger doubler
@JaredFury actually its both, i am a huge dimebag fan and i know that a lot of companies are using his name in memorie but mainly for sales. i dont like it but its true
@GuitarTube11 How exactly does he dramatically change his rig when for about 15 years + he used a randall amp mxr 6 band a furman pq ?
@GuitarTube11 Yea i kno he didn't use tubes :P no hard feelings the only tube amp he really used was the krankenstien but that was his hot rod version of the krank rev but yea this dime amp is affordable to get dimes tone
@GuitarTube11 uh thats a randall tube amp I see the randall solid state models that dime use to use in my local guitar center for 200-300 for the head
Oh ok. It is actually cheaper than a Randall. I'd still get the Randall though HAHA
live from foundations they were the main band. in these videos the hybrid set is clearly seen. do you think that dime didn´t have a single marshall stack? there are videos of him playing jackson´s RR. les pauls, and lots of oher models of guitar that weren´t usual in him, so its probably that he had a few marshalls i think that for the early days he used a hybrid set.
If there's a person who are to design Dime's amp, that person must be Grady Champion.
@GuitarTube11 What was in his studio rig ?
@GuitarTube11 yes but still are good amp heads not hot rodded anyways I was just trying to say some of them aren't that high price plus I thought u were talking about randall tube amps
what is the box thing at 2:29
when does this come out?
It would probably sound awesome if the camera had a decent mic
i know how to get DIme's tone..... buy a Randall
Or thats all Champion can play. This is a good sounding amp overall. If you take the mids back a little bit more, you could probaly get a RTS sound.
Der Amp matscht total. Da lobe ich mir den Randall 1503!
GUitarTube11, Noteurn, give it a rest. You both know. Isn't is just better to enjoy dimes playing in all forms, and enjoy the video?
@45thundertrain they weren't his amps, nor was the kit vinnie's if you're referring to the show I'm thinking of (outside gig, filmed in crowd), no reason why Pantera's equipment wasn't used, perhaps it wasn't worth the set up and take down...
if any one is worthy enough to take is place for a one time show its grady. fuck all that shit about zakk or anyone else. but thats my opinion.
which guitar waz dimebag shot with on stage
Red and black camo one
This chick is either high, drunk, or both...
What happened to Dean B. Zelinsky? Is he making Dragonball Z, er...DBZ guitars now? I don't really dig this tone. Sorry. Dime still rules tho!
Geile Maus! Wow
@Glazeman11 actually, there is a video, liveo from fundations, when they were in cowboys tour, were you can see that apart from the four full stacks of randall, there is one fullstack of a white marshall. also this setup ios seen in moscow 91 i think.
Name of that vid?
is that metal sanaz?
Dimes doppelganger!! Hey Grady, why don't you play with the 2 original pantera boys left together with the anthrax's skinner in the forthcoming reunion?!!!why didn't anyone thought of that?
His rig was almost unchanged between Projects In The Jungle and Great Southern Trendkill, so i dont know what the fuck you are talking about.
One of my source happens to be ..... Grady Champion! ;)
The source i have for Damageplan is a roadie who carried all of Dimebags stuff on stage at their gig at "The House Of Blues".. he said the Kranks where dummies, and he had a rack with RG100HT's.
Ive talked to the guys for years, and he loves to talk about meeting Dime, so i trust him on this one! ;)
I know this is old as hell, but I think Krank was just a payday for Dime. I was told he never even used the Krank heads, they were just up front for show.
I would probably get the head and a different cab.
@DrEviscerator666
A new Level
He was shot using the same sorta guitar in this video
If I wanna get a Dime sound, I'd get the actual AMP HE USED. A friggen' Randall. I bet the Dime amp is overpriced. Just a way to get money. Put his name on an amp and you're fucking set!
The dragon 🐉
i like dime but i think dean is really pushing it too far. making 10 signatures a year, is already toooooooooooooooo much. now amps? stop it dean just stop.
i wish they would show it without the flanger/doubler
He used his amp at HIGH volume, connected to 4 cabs in studio.. live he used different types.
The rig he used on New Found Power was a Randall Titan for distortion, and a Randall Warhead for cleans.
On the tour he used a combination of the Titan, Warhead X2 and the all tube RM100.
The Titan for rythm, Warhead for leads and the RM100 for cleans.
It was only during the last months he had Kranks on stage, and i have a reliable source telling me he actually used the RG100HT.
Unimpressed? I know it's dimes tech, really the tone ain't that good, and just one Dime! Mostly just in his hands and mind, I have never heard anyone play like Dime, that is why he's legendary!!
me too
He used all marshalls at a show in 1995 in sweden
haha yeah I noticed too
What was the second song dime's guitar tech played? I've heard the riff b4 but can't figure out the song
Pantera - A New Level
RadialJugernot thanks
You're obviously not even a pantera fan or a noob
@@SharpEdgeStandardOfficial bro this comment was 6 years ago. I know more now than I did then
Tone is always in the fingers, remember that
So a Randall RG100ES is cheaper than this, alot of you say on here? Funny, I see them going for well over a grand here and there.
his play is sloopy but nice amp...but still I prefer Randall 100 wt stack..awesome!!!...Getcha Pull...
walk!!!
the best guitar the best ampl. my dream.
Jesse Araujo shitty amp
Gary Sundan
The MXR, Furhmans etc.. and the fact that he hooked his RG80ES(George Lynch's signature amp.) up to the wrong Ohm to get more compression in the power amp.
And the Warhead sounds pretty shitty tbh.. get the G2 instead.
Damageplan was recorded with the Randall Titan(Cleans where from the Warhead though.).
He started to endorse Krank just a few weeks before getting shot.. so they dont really sound "Dimebag".
who is she?
Tits McGhee
Metal Sanaz
Guys he plays through a fucking randall preamp ??????
wrong, the blue rack unit is called mxr flanger/delay doubler. Dimebag always used that.
whats the function of the blue MXR doubler ? is it for thicken his rhythm tone?
Mohd Mulysa kinda. Its like boss harmonist pitch shift, plus has delay and flanger. Controlled by footswitch( dimebag never used) or by hand from his guitar tech which is the guy in this video. Go watch Pantera's home videos during their tours, you see his tech fiddling with this rack unit on stage while Dimebag is playing. These mxr flanger/delay doubler rack units are very rare hard to find. If you to recreate it on the cheap, you have buy three-four seperate pedals ( Delay, Flanger and Harmonist/Pitchshifter).
thanx man.
@DeathFromAbove1981 the Dean name lost its purpose. He should have the right to Dime´s name cause he was Dimes friend. Thats what I think but whatever.
Yeah but only marshall cabs.
no, you're not :D who is she?
@CaptainFantastik1 Dean Zelinsky left Dean Guitars in 08, formed DBZ Guitars, so this is nothing to do with him really.
When the hell did Dean ever have a USA guitar for 999.00. Lol. Both of my USA MLs were 3 times that.
basically :D
@ferbicus Na bro, didnt you hear? THOSE are coming in the summer of 2013...lmfao
699 bucks! Geil
I think they were just stage props.
you know the dead never complain so why do so many people complain about dimes name being used its seems that the one closest to him his brother vinnie his dad his best friend rita don't care. Plus if its a good amp get if you don't like it no bodies forcing you to buy it. SO SHUT UP ABOUT DIME UNLESS YOU KNEW HIM PERSONALLY.
If PANTERA came back together, GRADY could of play for DIMEBAG. R.I.P DIMEBAG
No, you havent seen that list.
There is no information to get out on the net about the gear he used during the 80's, ive talked to several of his old friends from "back in the day" who told me what gear he is using.
You see, im not getting my information from shitty fanboy sites, im getting it from people who knew/worked with Diamond.. BIG difference.
And you are just trying to look like you know his gear, if you knew about that list, why did you say he used a Warhead on Vulgar Display Of Power?
Tell shawty I said wassup
dont sound like the orginal randall at all.this was more compact sound. like the sound is stuck in a box zzz. nah cant beat the orginal randall RG100ES and his C200 series sorry mate.
this is what happens when you sell your naming rights!
You cant copy dimes tone it was all in his hands and his heart
@Mrmegadeth131da A ML79F (Dean
MY facts are right, yes.. you dont know shit.
The Randall Warhead was released in 2000, Vulgar Display Of Power was recorded in 1992.
Take it from one who has owned just about every single Randall out there, and actually owns Metal Magic, Projects In The Jungle, I Am The Night and Power Metal on vinyl.. trust me, im a bigger Pantera enthusiast then most people out there.
Diamond Darrell used Marshall JCM800's pre-84 btw.
@RandomHero12 No it wont. You can wait for cows to fly and chicken to swim but they will never do so. Dime is a big river of money so dont think so.
